  1. Cool Galaxie. It sort of looks black until you changed the direction of the camera and on that interior picture the root beer really show well. Bet it kind of runs rough though, one of your spark plug wires has come disconnected.
  2. To me finishing is highly overrated. Although getting a couple in paint and on all fours would be a good reason for purchasing a new display cabinet.
  3. Just completed a great trade with philo426. Quick shipment, everything as stated. Will trade with him again.
  4. It's a FORD, it is beautiful - end of discussion. I liked the high-boy look of the first rendition, but then I fondly remember those from my high-school years. The lowered look does seem to fit this build a bit better, maybe I have mellowed in my senior years. Looking forward to more updates.
  5. I can appreciate the extensive work put into building something of this caliber, either 1:1 or model. But that work effort still does not make it any better looking in my eyes, and beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Like I used to be told in the military when standing in inspection: "Them shoes look like they have been polished with a Hershey bar and buffed with a brick".
  6. Extremely well done weathering, although you did miss the great big hole in the floor pan. Every reconstruction show I watch on TV requires new floorboards.
  7. To keep it as close to scale as possible I would suggest some .010 thickness by .125 wide. This may be a bit wide, but you can always trim to fit. If it needs more thickness, just stack the strips. Good luck with your work.
  8. That is indeed one fine looking Corvette, very nice color and those wheels really make it shine. My favorite year is the '63 and my favorite body style Vette is the original StingRay
  9. IMHO that is one ugly waste of sheetmetal. George Barris had a vivid imagination, but I think at times he may have spent a bit too much time in Napa Valley prior to building.
  10. It is a Mustang, enough said. Beautiful work, and that Fox chassis seems to fit like a glove.
  11. And the final two for this morning. The door and window cranks are pieces of wire to replace the poorly identified kit items. The original idea was to build a street freak, that is why the full exhaust system, front springs are from an AMT 40 Willys kit axle is scratchbuilt. Rear slicks and steel wheels are parts box.
  12. Here are a couple more pictures. Scratchbuilt the headers out of solder and the cross-ram manifold from bits of styrene and putty. The valve colors are chrome without the purple tint. HEI distributor is white metal from R&D Uniques, wish I could find a couple more.
  13. Started this SCRambler sometime back in early 2012. Some major life changes got in the way and I boxed it up. Just dug it out a couple days ago and am trying to get it finished. Added connector bars between sub-frames for more rigidity to help control the BBC I am using.
  14. Very nice build, really like your selection of color.
  15. Beautiful duo of Chevy's. Especially like the Suburban, slap a double axle trailer behind it with your choice of racing machine and it is off to the races.
  16. The only problem is, without TV viewers and money sponsors, there will be no money to save. With all this push toward EPA mandates emission changes and forcing electric cars on the market the death knell rings even stronger. Who wants to pay $100+ to watch a slot car race? The roar of the engines is a major part of the complete experience. Win on Sunday and sell on Monday is a thing of the past. Another issue is the younger generations are not showing the same interest in cars as those now presently supporting NASCAR.
  17. Really cool period correct custom. Very well designed and executed. Your sir, are a custom builder,
  18. Going to be a nice looking truck. I had a set of the Chrysler wheel/tires, but used them on this.
  19. Great looking build. Those drivers were sitting on a pair the size of softballs. As an aside, my drag racing hole lasted pretty much from Sept '68 - Dec '81. Did get to go to a couple of races then, the Rockingham Pro-Am in '75 stands out in what memory I have left of those days. MSGT, USAF retired.
  20. Oh man yeah! That is a nice duo of Fords. Got to love them.
  21. ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!! Snarf. Wake me up when the Table Tennis finals come on.
  22. Excellent kit-bash, Nice, clean overall build and I really like that color combination.
  23. Excellent build. Love the weathered look and those two Fairlanes are beautiful, one of my favorite Ford bodies.
  24. Excellent build. I watched this build come together and was amazed at the work you did. The final photographs also add a look of realism. Great work.
  25. Thanks for sharing this build. That car was built less than a mile from my house. From my understanding of the story, Junior Johnson helped Travis Carter build a race shop and also provided the equipment and parts for the cars. I think Junior used this team as a test bed for some of his ideas. Anyway, there was one of the older cars up on a pole in front of the shop. Many of the locals claimed that was the only pole Jimmy Spencer would ever claim. Had a chance to meet Jimmy many years later at the North/South Shootout at Concord Speedway.
