  1. Vince, I am so sorry to hear of your loss. Place your trust and faith in GOD, He will get you through this.
  2. I think I would try the Root Beer candy, if you can find it. Back when this kit first came out, candy color was "what you had to have to be cool." Just thinking about the Mazmanian Willys coupe, and some of the other "professional" gassers. But then it is your build , so go for it.
  3. Another story of high-priced auctions. A local auction company advertised a box of older models. I went down, looked through the box, found some boxes that could probably sell for $10-15 at a model show, some parts of a couple of the older Trophy Series kits (40 Ford Coupe and 32 Roadster) there was a fairly nice 59 Buick hardtop, a couple different built T-Birds, and a 60 (?) Ford truck. When the box came up I had decided my top bid would be around $150. The auctioneer started at $260 and the box ended up selling for over $500. Guess my pricing skills are a bit off.
  4. Got some cash, new bedroom slippers, a couple restaurant gift cards, and a Lowes gift card. My wife and I decided that next year we are going to Pay-it-Forward and get a couple of Angel Tree children rather than swapping money between ourselves. When she asked what I wanted/needed for Christmas, I could not think of a single thing, other than the bedroom slippers; her reply was the same. I have over 200 unbuilt kits so plastic is not high on my list at the moment. Hope all had a wonderful Christmas.
  5. Haven't tried this combination. However, I did try try the Riviera Lowrider body and the wheelbases did not match, the Chevelle was much shorter. That being said, drag out the Xacto knives and saws and give it a shot.
  6. I will probably do the Louisville Hauler, it will require less modification. If I have time I will attempt the KW.
  7. That is one mighty fine looking F-1. AS others have said it is a mirror of the real one and difficult to tell apart.
  8. I will try to get into this build-off. Will either build a heavily modified Louisville Hauler or a 1/32 KW T600A also considerably modified. Both builds have been in the "brain" (for lack of a better word) planning for a few years.
  9. Looks like it would be a neat scratchbuild for someone with the talent, and I have seen a few on this forum that could tackle it. Not sure if I would want to be in that cab in a head-on, especially with that much trailer weight over your head.
  10. That is one of the main issues I have with the Tamiya paint stand, I have buggered up a few paint jobs because I picked it up to paint along the rocker panels and forget about the two piece. Rushing and painting do not mix.
  11. Excellent mild street rod. Color choice is different, but really fits this build. Did that dual-carb manifold come with this kit?
  12. Excellent work on this one. Your choice of extra parts has really added to this build. Like that color. Would like to find a pickup so I could build "Rich's" pickup from "Mountain Men".
  13. Beautiful build. Really loved watching those old slingshots smoke the hides for a 1/4 mile. Very nice Suburban also. Like the whole set-up, very nice work.
  14. This is an example of bleed through. If you look just below the word "Service" on the cab you can see a slight color shift in the white, then if you look really closely just under the sleeper window you can see a color shift in the gold. This cab was molded in red, that strip around the cab is white styrene. I used every tip that has been mentioned, except for the Zinsser primer, and I still got bleed through. However the Mustang was molded in yellow and I had no problems with bleed-through and it was painted the same way using the same colors. I really think bleed through is some form of demonic force that enjoys playing tricks on unsuspecting modelers.
  15. Depending on the kit you buy, many of them are on par with Tamiya. Some were designed for electric motors, and have been sort of converted to static kits, and similar to Tamiya most are curbside. Hope this helps.
  16. That is some fantastic chassis building. I also used the '57 Chevy pro mod chassis as a pattern for an EXP I am building. Looking forward to more updates. Are you planning on removing the front inner fenders? Might give you better clearance for exhaust and turbo tubing.
  17. A little bit of time and some attention can make any car look good, and you have just proved it. Very nice build.
  18. I have an old BBQ apron I wear when working on models (I have a tendency to spill glue and paint). When my files or sanding sticks get full I simply wipe them across the apron, when I am finished for the day I will take an old toothbrush to clean the files before putting them away.
  19. Oh man that is going to be so cool. I could just see it chopped about three inches, with a SBF, and some really nice 17 or 18 inch wheels and tires. Would also need a killer paint job. But your version is just as sweet, love the weathering you are doing.
  20. Just went to the Hobbysearch website and looked through the build directions for this one. It can be built into a stock dump truck, just like the stock Fuso dump truck listed below it. However both are approximately $80 + shipping, so unless Santa is really good to me I doubt I will get one. Oh yeah, the stock one was sold out when I just checked the site.
  21. "Amazing work' cannot be used enough to compliment your building expertise. I truly enjoy each and every update you bring to us. Watching you work must have been the same as watching Picasso or Rembrandt put oils to canvas. You sir, are an artist extraordinaire.
  22. Aptly named, and that is where it should be - in the dump.
  23. Looking really good and a very obscure car. Wondering about the "frosted" glass in the car; is that from racing on the sand at Daytona? ?
  24. Sweet Bronco like the simplicity of the build and your color choices. On the other hand my 1:1 school buss seems to be a bit more orange.
  25. To me the pavement is nicer than the car, haven't cared too much for Ferrari since the 250 GT
