  1. Of the few I have built and have displayed in my cabinet I think this one is the coolest. The Mustang started as a slump buster and the rest just sort of followed along. These are both 1/32 scale.
  2. And if you mounted it in the rear, imagine the traction you could get, especially with a good set of Air-Ride shocks.
  3. Stopped by the Barnes & Noble today on the chance there may be a new Traditional Rod & Kulture magazine, I believe they are probably no longer in print. Anyway I came across this magazine. It gives very good details and photos of how the chassis was built from 10 gauge steel sheet, how the custom bodywork was done, interior work, and of course powerplant. And the price is only $5.99 - when was the last time you bought a really informative magazine for that price? It is well worth the price, and that is a pretty good looking machine.
  4. Now that would look cool in a rat rod. Reminds me of the behemoth diesel engines that were our electrical power generators on Shemya AFB, AK.
  5. Nothing finer than a fat-fendered FORD and you have done this one justice. Amazingly it is also got Blue-Oval power under the hood, not some rinky-dink SBC. As the others have said the color combination really sets it back to another era of hot-rodding.
  6. Excellent build, color selection fits it well. In the third picture down, the three-quarter rear view, it looks like the trunk area has been stretched; that would be a lot of work but it sure looks cool.
  7. Now that you mention it it does have a resemblance to the Manta Rays I remember, but it also has a bit of the Cheetah influence.
  8. What irked me today and over the past several days is the incessant calls from people wanting to "help me" locate the correct Medicare supplement for me. The biggest irk is they call in using local telephone numbers so my caller ID will look legitimate. But then there are also the same type calls that come in from many different states and it is the same robocall. As Ace said, (paraphrase) "I am an adult with several decades of life behind me and I know how to make a couple phone calls to see who can offer me the best supplemental insurance." Which I do not really need, since I am retired military and have TRICARE for life. I did sign up for one of the more prominent companies free policy which offers "Silver Sneakers" just so I can get a free membership to my local YMCA.
  9. The red one sort of resembles a Bill Thomas Cheetah. It has the basic body shape and proportions. It was probably a knockoff without permission to use the design and was changed just enough to make it legal. As for the blue one, I do not have a clue, does not look familiar at all. I used to race slots in the 60's and the hot ticket then was the Manta Ray.
  10. Going to be fun to watch come together. I hope you are going to shorten that roll bar a bit, it seems quite tall in the picture. It should be equal with the windshield frame. That is a mighty interesting tonneau cover you have on there, where did you find it?
  11. Nice looking chassis, impressive cage work. What are you using for front and rear chassis clips?
  12. An excellent example of what we used to build in our younger days. Congratulations on your honors. One question, is that a tool box on top of the engine? It resembles the one found in the 53 Ford pick-up kit.
  13. Very nice looking wagon, the colors really complement each other. That grocery bag does not look that much oversized. Another option would be a couple pieces of luggage, I have a kit somewhere with luggage, but can't for the life of me remember which one. I have had one of these for a few years and have planned all along to build it for stock class drag-racing.
  14. Not trying to start a flame war, but I feel NASCAR has been disrespectful of its fans for many years now. I was born and raised in the middle of NASCAR country, Junior Johnson's shops were less than 10 miles from my house. Childress racing is less than 50 miles. Used to be a hard-core fan, but all the changes to the cars, rules, and racing formats have completely turned me off. I will tune in to the last few laps to see who wins, I am still a FORD fan.
  15. Great, thanks, Now where is it available - Hobby Lobby, Michael's or some other source?
  16. Really cool looking Mercedes. Have a similar idea for the MPC Gangbuster's Lincoln.
  17. I am going to try my hand at doing some carving to possibly make a resin mold for my personal use. However I am not sure what material is available for some intricate carving. I remember seeing someone mention a product, but I cannot remember the name, seems I remember it beginning with "ren". Any help will be appreciated.
  18. Very well designed and completed build. Beautiful paint work.
  19. In '64 the only Super Stock Dodges would have been the 330 and a few Polara's.
  20. Great build, very innovative. Opens up a whole new way of looking at some of the builds I have on the list of "to-do's". Thanks for sharing and kicking my imagination into gear.
  21. Very interesting build. Really like the weathering. Also like the "Red Man" on the dash, my late uncle used to chew that stuff all day long.
  22. Good looking salvage job. Elvira was one of a kind. Kind of wonder how much "body putty" it took to...oh never mind.
  23. That is just scary. I can envision both legs broken, complete lack of reproductive ability, and many other injuries. I have always liked the look of the FED, that is what I grew up watching. The wheelstands, 1/4 mile tires smoking, it was all glorious. Those drivers kept many brass companies in business.
  24. Meh, it's a Corvette, not overly impressed. If I had the money to buy a Corvette, I would get a Mustang instead and use the leftover money to buy gas.
  25. Take it down to Fanthom Works in Norfolk, VA. They can rebuild any rust bucket, and it would probably only cost you a couple hundred grand.? Sounds like an interesting project. Looking forward to what you do with it. Really burns my posterior to see such a beautiful machine neglected like that.
