  1. Beautiful build. I am a sucker for the early Super Stock/FX classes, then racing was racing. Those launch pictures are brutal, sort of reminds me of these hydraulic cars doing their wheelstand dances.
  2. CRASH!!! That is the sound of my jaw dropping at the fine work you are doing with this build. Keep showing us more tricks.
  3. They are also one piece units in the '66 Ford Galaxie.
  4. Just looked through my stash and found them in the AMT 66 Ford Galaxie, they were part of the NASCAR build.
  5. Very nice Chevy, I like the little extra paint detail you put around the wheel openings.
  6. Wow, just found this post. That is going to be one amazing Mustang. Like what you have done with it. As an afterthought on the headers, I seem to remember a kit that had those very headers in them, they had to be installed after the engine was in place. But for the life of me I cannot remember which kit it was, I have slung a lot of plastic in my 60 years of building.
  7. You have done an excellent job on this build. Very clean and a good color choice. I have one in my stash and this build may make me move it up the line. These older AMT repops are fun to build. They are quite simple with the everything molded chassis and tub interiors. In their simplicity they give you an opportunity to experiment with some different building techniques.
  8. That is why I specified RWD Chevelle, since the name sort of morphed into Malibu over the later years.
  9. Very well weathered and a good semblance of a real one's rust. I like the way you cocked the front license plate, very nice touch.
  10. Really cool build. Especially like the detail of the air vents poking out of the window openings.
  11. The original RWD Chevelles, the '65 especially, followed closely by '66 & '67.
  12. You mean I can't use my 5' disc grinder? What fun is that. Thanks to both of you for your help.
  13. OK, what is the accepted procedure for polishing virgin plastic? Do you use progressively finer wet polishing pads and finish off with a good wax, or do you use a liquid/paste combination? I mentioned in an earlier post I have the Dirty Donny GTX, I also have a very pretty black Academy Hyundai Azera/Grandeur I would like to polish. Any help will be appreciated.
  14. I've had this one for many years and would not trade it for anything. I don't remember where I got it or how much it cost, but I know it was worth every penny.
  15. Ours was not a Scout but a 4-door CarryAll or whatever they were called. We rescued it from the junkyard. Mechanically it was in pretty good shape, it needed a few minutes in the motor pool, the floor had large holes in it, the fenders were perforated and the top was rusted almost the full length along the passenger side drip rail. But I worked in the welding/sheetmetal shop, so we spent a lot of time patching and backyard engineering it to run.
  16. Reminds me of the one I drove while stationed at Shemya, AK, except ours was a four-door IH and the top had rusted through along the drip rail. Very nice weathering, looks to be rode hard and put away wet.
  17. A few years back I went into the HL in Spartanburg, SC and right out front was a table of clearance items. In the middle was the Monogram Big Deuce marked for $11.49. SNATCH!!! before anyone else even thought about getting it. I did pick up the Big Tub a few months later for $32.49.
  18. I must reflect all the above comments. This is one fine and nasty MOPAR. Congratulations on getting that black paint job to look so smooth.
  19. I like what you are doing with this. Scale-Master mentioned the balance, to me the C-Pillar seems to be too wide. It would require a bit of work but in my thought a 4-6 scale inch reduction in vertical width of the C-pillar would make it less top heavy. That being said, it is your model, build it the way it suits you and I am sure it will come out fine. Looking forward to updates.
  20. Wouldn't want to try parking that one at WalMart. Mighty fine rig.
  21. I may be late to the game or completely off base, but have you considered the Revell Parts Pack 427 Ford engine? It can be built blown or with 2X4 carbs.
  22. Not much finer than a pink early T-Bird. Very nice build.
  23. Super build. Just enough weathering to let it be known this a a true work truck, but not so much as to make it look abused. I have to try that one of these days.
  24. Yeah, but that Flattie would sound so much cooler than a plain old SBC.
  25. Thanks for the tips. I was just down at my bench a couple hours ago and noticed I do have the two-part hanging on my pegboard, still in its blister pack. Will be digging it out when I get back to doing some more bodywork.
