  1. Rubbing is racing, and from the looks of this one he has definitely been racing. One thing a lot of us that build circle track cars forget is the rotted out door sills and rocker panels. A lot of these cars were drug out of a field, junkyard, or someone's backyard and they had some lower panel rust. Yours depicts that very well. Good looking build. From the picture it is hard to tell if the bar beside the driver is parallel to the floor or if it is diagonal. You might consider replacing that with a couple of parallel bars along the drivers door as a bit more protection in case of a T-bone hit.
  2. Don't know if this will help or not but here are the instructions for the Coronet R/T http://public.fotki.com/drasticplasticsmcc/mkiba-build-under-c/mpc-instructions/automotive-cars--pi/dodge/1961-1970/mpc-1968-dodge-coro/1968dodgecoronetrti.html
  3. X2. A guy at my high school had one similar to this one, except his had a white top, slightly different hubcaps, and the Studebaker engine. His had flames, but they were home painted with a spray can; still one kool kemp.
  4. Really fine looking Mustang. Love the street/drag look. My only suggestion would be to have sanded the "Revell Corp." off the gas tank before painting it.
  5. Not sure what to tell you on that. If you are not satisfied with what you have now, trying the white wash may be your only alternative. If that does not work, then I guess it is into the purple pond.
  6. With the white color you probably would have been better to use a much lighter wash. Some will take a bit of the body color, add a touch of black, and make it into a wash. Most door lines do not appear as actually black, but a darker shade of the body color,
  7. Welcome Mick, looking forward to some of your builds. Also welcome to another "lifer", 21 years 2 months, and 18 days, at least that is what my DD-214 says. I've been retired since Dec 1st, 1989.
  8. Great job on the rebuild of this iconic kit. As for the front axle, there appears to be some alignment problems with the grille and the axle, the grille appears to be a bit high; maybe that is just my perspective. I realize that axle is an original kit piece, but to me it looks like a 4X4 axle without a hogshead, maybe you could substitute some thinner tube or a smaller diameter. Just some thoughts off the top of my head. Still, I really like what you are doing with it, and sure wish I could find one without having to mortgage the house.
  9. Every time I look at this post I get the image of Dr. Frankenstein creating his monster. This is definitely going to be an amazing finished build. Just checking out that "load" I sure wouldn't want to meet this one coming down a twisty mountain road. Keep at it.
  10. Mighty fine looking old warhorse. Really like the weathering, makes it look well worked.
  11. Not much of a MOPAR fan, but they are better than the Bowtie brigade, Here are a couple pictures from an all MOPAR show I attended back in 2009.
  12. Would love to find the barn than one was parked in to see if there are any more. Really nice job on the weathering and recreating an old school hot rod.
  13. Looks like a factory job to me. Just noticed the right side B pillar appears to be slanting to the rear a bit too much, or is that just an optical illusion from the picture?
  14. This may help: http://images.tcpglobal.com/chips/1964-Mercury-pg02.jpg
  15. Great trade in return with thatz4u. Quick shipping and exactly what was promised.
  16. Looks like you have nailed the look. Great work.
  17. '55-56 Lincoln.
  18. A very interesting build, looks like it should have been factory. Just my opinion, but it seems the bed is a bit too long, makes it look a bit tail heavy.
  19. All I find in barns are rats and a few snakes. A piece of true hot rod history for sure.
  20. Beautiful workmanship on this build. You are a master craftsman on bodywork. Thanks for sharing it.
  21. Very impressive build. Really looks the part. It's hard to believe these big old boats were NASCAR front runners.
  22. Very well done. Never thought of a 64 Impala as an AWB, but this one looks righteous. Good looking paint job and decal work. Two thumbs up.
  23. I remember watching that build come together before he left that other show. Looking pretty close to the real one, really like your concept.
  24. I was looking through a post yesterday and came across a video showing how to use graphic masks for flames. The YouTube video was from StickIt Graphics. When I try to go to their website I get a page showing "Domain for Sale". Is this company still in business or are there other companies doing this type work? I will be in the market for some scallop type graphics in the near future.
  25. Love what you are doing with this one. Reminds me of the "Baht buses" when I was in Thailand, except they were all imports - Datsun, Toyota, etc. We were told not to ride them for safety and/or security reasons, but what GI ever listened to such nonsense. For $.05, equivalent to a Baht, you could ride hanging on the side of a pickup through some of the most horrendous traffic imaginable.
