  1. Almost forgot this one. Just plumb nasty, the AC-130 Spectre.
  2. Very biased on my picks. The C-130 Hercules is the first aircraft I worked on in the USAF and the F-4 (different variations F-4D, F-4E, RF-4C) was the one I worked on the most. Love those two warbirds. And I did work on this particular F-4D when I was in Thailand.
  3. R.I.P Mr Mustang, got to love your vision. I read his book many years ago. One quote (paraphrased) has stuck with me, "US universities graduate 10 lawyers for every 1 engineer. Japanese universities graduate 10 engineers for every 1 lawyer. Do you see the problem?"
  4. Some I would like to have, but will probably abstain from buying them. Just noticed another $2.00 price increase. I guess the model companies do not realize a large majority of their customers are red, white, and blue card-carrying old folks, with a limited budget. My retirement checks or Social Security check has not seen an appreciable increase in years, but kit prices have been steadily increasing. Rant over.
  5. Thanks for the offer. I have those and the ones from the original '58 T-Bird kit. Just not sure if they will fit the panels of the extended '61 Ford. I may even attempt to tape it up and do my own, depends on how I am feeling when it comes time to paint.
  6. Still up in the air over color, I have two or three nail polishes set aside. Have also thought of pearl-white with scallops, but I cannot find anyone who makes masks for scallops. There used to be a company that made flame masks and I think they also offered scallops, but I cannot find them. The interior will either be a leather color to complement the exterior paint, or a white with the seat and door panels the body color. Also trying to decide if it is worth the extra work to make the bubble top functional, it is on the '58 T-Bird. If I do go that route I will be putting "lift" cylinders mounted between the back seat and the sidewall. Big problem is that is going to be a lot of work and I have a bunch of stuff I need to get done before next Friday. I will be going in for surgery to get some of my neck bones fused together and will be out of commission around the house for a couple of months. Will also probably miss the CKM show.
  7. Finally got a little bit of bench time, the temps have been above 90 and the humidity is twice that. Did a bunch of sanding, sprayed some sealer/primer, and noticed a few areas that will need some work. I am scratchbuilding the interior around the custom seats from the AMT '57 Ford Fairlane. Still have a bunch to do, trying to sort of match the sidewalls with the seat pattern.
  8. Stopped by Hobby Lobby yesterday and there were several gaps in their display, but none on markdown. Guess someone beat me to it. Did find the Porsche Diesel Tractor hiding behind a 65 Riviera kit, it is now in my collection.
  9. Both these bring back some great memories. I saw the "Dew" car in Junior Johnson's shop. Back then it was only 12 miles from my home, I got to go there a couple of times to look around. When I joined the USAF in '68 I flew on Piedmont Airlines to Atlanta on my way to Lackland AFB for basic training. I also flew Piedmont a couple times after that, they were headquartered in Winston-Salem which is 35 miles from my home. Two very nice builds. Thanks for sharing them.
  10. Rubbing is racing, and from the looks of this one he has definitely been racing. One thing a lot of us that build circle track cars forget is the rotted out door sills and rocker panels. A lot of these cars were drug out of a field, junkyard, or someone's backyard and they had some lower panel rust. Yours depicts that very well. Good looking build. From the picture it is hard to tell if the bar beside the driver is parallel to the floor or if it is diagonal. You might consider replacing that with a couple of parallel bars along the drivers door as a bit more protection in case of a T-bone hit.
  11. Don't know if this will help or not but here are the instructions for the Coronet R/T http://public.fotki.com/drasticplasticsmcc/mkiba-build-under-c/mpc-instructions/automotive-cars--pi/dodge/1961-1970/mpc-1968-dodge-coro/1968dodgecoronetrti.html
  12. X2. A guy at my high school had one similar to this one, except his had a white top, slightly different hubcaps, and the Studebaker engine. His had flames, but they were home painted with a spray can; still one kool kemp.
  13. Really fine looking Mustang. Love the street/drag look. My only suggestion would be to have sanded the "Revell Corp." off the gas tank before painting it.
  14. Not sure what to tell you on that. If you are not satisfied with what you have now, trying the white wash may be your only alternative. If that does not work, then I guess it is into the purple pond.
  15. With the white color you probably would have been better to use a much lighter wash. Some will take a bit of the body color, add a touch of black, and make it into a wash. Most door lines do not appear as actually black, but a darker shade of the body color,
  16. Welcome Mick, looking forward to some of your builds. Also welcome to another "lifer", 21 years 2 months, and 18 days, at least that is what my DD-214 says. I've been retired since Dec 1st, 1989.
  17. Great job on the rebuild of this iconic kit. As for the front axle, there appears to be some alignment problems with the grille and the axle, the grille appears to be a bit high; maybe that is just my perspective. I realize that axle is an original kit piece, but to me it looks like a 4X4 axle without a hogshead, maybe you could substitute some thinner tube or a smaller diameter. Just some thoughts off the top of my head. Still, I really like what you are doing with it, and sure wish I could find one without having to mortgage the house.
  18. Every time I look at this post I get the image of Dr. Frankenstein creating his monster. This is definitely going to be an amazing finished build. Just checking out that "load" I sure wouldn't want to meet this one coming down a twisty mountain road. Keep at it.
  19. Mighty fine looking old warhorse. Really like the weathering, makes it look well worked.
  20. Not much of a MOPAR fan, but they are better than the Bowtie brigade, Here are a couple pictures from an all MOPAR show I attended back in 2009.
  21. Would love to find the barn than one was parked in to see if there are any more. Really nice job on the weathering and recreating an old school hot rod.
  22. Looks like a factory job to me. Just noticed the right side B pillar appears to be slanting to the rear a bit too much, or is that just an optical illusion from the picture?
  23. This may help: http://images.tcpglobal.com/chips/1964-Mercury-pg02.jpg
  24. Great trade in return with thatz4u. Quick shipping and exactly what was promised.
  25. Looks like you have nailed the look. Great work.
