  1. Did full-size Pontiacs ever use the GM "X" frame, or have they always run perimeter frames?
  2. I had neck-fusion surgery performed last month. Finally got to get back behind the wheel of my Ranger this week-end. Still cannot turn my head, have to rotate my whole upper body to look right and left, but I am driving. School starts tomorrow, but I will not be able to drive a school bus for at least two more months. Actually may get some bench time. Had a fairly productive day at an auction yesterday - see post in "What did you get?".
  3. Excellent rod, very tastefully done. There are a couple of this style trucks running around my hometown. I never really paid a whole lot of attention to them, but this one piques my interest and may change my mind on them.
  4. Foe someone that just came into the hobby two years ago you have progressed very well. That is an excellent build; especially like the weathering and the overall well-used look. Two thumbs up.
  5. Very nice rig. Those outdoor photos are quite deceptive, looks very close to real.
  6. Oops, guess I need to clean my glasses. Thanks for correcting that.
  7. Local Auction House had some models for sale today. The first box had some sweet built-ups in it but it exceeded my bid range rather quickly. They also had three lots of what were listed as JoHan/AMT/SMP friction models. I bid on the best looking lot and got them. In order from left to right they are a rough '54 Pontiac convert, fairly nice '58 Edsel, fairly nice '58 Ford convert, a fair '57 Pontiac 4dr, and a really nice '58 Oldsmobile. Being promos there is some body warpage and the '54 Buick has the wrong chassis - it is 1/2 inch too long. May keep a couple of them and get rid of the others.
  8. Thanks for the explanation.
  9. Thanks for that link, I will try to get in touch with him.
  10. Great pictures of some might fine looking hardware. A gentleman in my neighborhood has one of the older IH pickups, he drive quite often. I hate getting behind him because it does smoke a bit and I believe it definitely is "granny-geared", top speed behind him is never over 45 mph. Maybe I am missing something, but I wonder about the yellow log-hauler. I do not see any way that load can articulate. How does it turn?
  11. This 57 is coming together rather nicely. That stance is very reminiscent of many '57 Fords and others during my teen years. - "tail high for traction". Will be watching your interior work, I am using those same seats and console in a full custom '61 Starliner I am working on.
  12. Extremely nice looking pickup. Really like the way you rebuilt the bed, as others have said, the proportions are right on. Also like that color and the subdued chrome of the grille.
  13. I was driving down the interstate heading home from town and saw an altered wheelbase 65ish Falcon on top of a three-car auto hauler. It was in primer. Since I was driving a bit over the posted numbers I didn't have time to get my phone out to get a picture.
  14. Now you've gone and done it. I had to bring out my Kleenex while looking through this build. Your ability to take plain unassuming styrene pieces and turn them into works of art makes me want to cry. This is some awesome work and your vision is beyond reproach.
  15. George was looking through the local home improvement store finding stuff for a project. He bumped into his neighbor John. After exchanging pleasantries, George asked John, "Say, do you have that $206 I loaned you a year ago?" John replied, "No, I don't have it right now but I will get it to you, I would rather owe you than beat you out of it."
  16. Really enjoy watching Salters come together. However looking through this WIP, many of your pictures are not showing - at least on my computer.
  17. Really enjoy watching builds of vehicles I am not familiar with. The name is familiar, but all the variations are intriguing. Love what you are doing with this one. May not be correct, but when I look at that body, all I can see is a blown or injected SBC and a set of slicks poking through the rear fenders. Please forgive me for that, but this would make one wicked Gasser.
  18. If you can find a '33 Ford Sedan or a '34 5-window coupe kit kit, both have IFS suspension options and they should fairly easily work on the '32 Roadster.
  19. Really like where you are going with this build. Not sure about the taillights, they seem to overpower those rear fenders.
  20. This is the same stuff as Pledge, Pledge Floor Shine, and any other variants of that name. Should not have any effect on decals, not sure about Molotow. Dries as any acrylic does. It is very self-leveling, so just brush it on as you would any other paint. These are my suggestions, may not be 100% accurate, just repeating what I have read and heard.
  21. Lovely old touring car.
  22. That is one mighty fine looking Impala. Really like that color, I had a '65 Chevelle SS that was very close to that color.
  23. Brings back many memories of years long past. I had a Strombecker 1/32 figure eight that I wore out, also had (still have) a Lionel 027 diesel train set with extra track pieces and a Marx 027 Steam set. I would like to set them up, but they require way too much space and the wife says until I can get rid of some the 300+ model kits I am not going to start a new hobby. Keep those update coming so we can live vicariously through your efforts.
  24. That is one strange looking bird. Looking forward to what yo do with it.
  25. This is scratchbuilding at its finest. Your vision and execution of this build is beyond comment. Keep those updates coming.
