  1. Definitely one different build. Looks a bit scary to drive, that is a whole lot of weight on some mighty small wheels and tires. Still one mighty fine looking Gasser and I really like that fuelie Corvair.
  2. Some of those early dragsters make me want to go hide in a closet, especially the three-wheelers. It was all about speed, safety be-damned. Love those pictures., saw a couple of ideas of how I could use some leftover parts.
  3. Most of my fond memories of the flight line were in a bread-truck with a bunch of other avionics maintenance people cruising around during launch to perform any minor repairs needed. Played many a hand of spades and pinochle in those trucks. I have often thought of trying to build one of those.
  4. That sounds logical. But if I am in that bucket and going to be spraying the T-Tail on a C-141 I would want extended stabilizers. You are doing an excellent job with this build; looking forward to updates.
  5. Retired in '89 and saw a few of these in Korea, Ohio, Oklahoma, and even North Carolina. Didn't pay a lot of attention to them, my job was inside the aircraft, working avionics. Really like where you are going with this one. Going to be fun to watch you doing the scratchbuilding. One thing I noticed in the pictures is a lack of stabilizers. I sort of thought those were required on any highlift vehicle. I know when I had to repair the HF antennas on C-130's and B-52's, those had to be extended and in place or QC or Safety would ream us a new one. Looking forward to your progress.
  6. Very beautiful 'Thunderchero'. The color you chose really adds to the luxury of this build. Also like the proportions of the top with the rest of the body; too many of these conversions just don't look right. Howeve,r this one looks very well done.
  7. Mighty fine looking Gasser, really like the idea of using a sedan delivery. One thing I noticed is the class designation should be B/G not B/GS, the 'S' indicates supercharged. Still an excellent build.
  8. Mighty fine looking Gasser. Looks like it just rolled out of the 60's. Nice choice of color, adds to the overall look.
  9. Since the pick-up window is rectangular in shape I would think the rectangle shape on the top of the sprue just might be the rear window for the pick-up. I could be wrong, I have built three or four of these kits and have more in my stash, and do not remember any of them having the wrong rear window.
  10. At my age patience in not a virtue.
  11. Since issue #206 came out in November, I guess it is too early to expect anything on issue #207. Just wondering.
  12. I really like this particular body style F-series pickups. Also like the multitude of two-tones available on these. Your build is an excellent example of a fine looking truck. Sweet build.
  13. OK, I know someone thought they were being creative, and I will not knock that thought. However, there are not enough "u's" in UUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGLY to really say what I think of these monstrosities.
  14. That is one sexy street rod. Nothing sweeter than an A-bone in the garage.
  15. Oh yeah, very nice build. I had a '74 that same color and a '78 King Cab also that color of blue. Love both of those trucks. Put Jackman 8-spoke wheels on both of them. The '74 got sideswiped by a drunk driver, so I put a California Step-side conversion on it, never got it painted, finally traded for the '78.
  16. If you go to the personal hygiene section of WalMart they have nylon mesh bath puffs (for lack of a better description) in multiple colors. They normally sell for around $1. These can be cut to any size you need and by stretching them you are able to make almost any size mesh you desire. The window net on this 1?32 Mustang is an example. I stretched the mesh out and pinned it to a piece of cardboard, used masking tape on both sides to make the edges, which I later cut to the proper size. It can also be painted.
  17. Just completed a great trade with Bisc63. Trade went smoothly and received the parts I needed.
  18. Just wondering if there is any update on issue #207.
  19. Not much for the lowered look, but you have done some mighty fine detail work to this rescue. Really like the work you did with the bed and the front bumper/grille. Exceptionally nice overall build.
  20. One mighty sweet El Camino. That color really sets it off.
  21. Good looking Ford truck. That color fits it very well, looks like something a high school kid or a low-buck hot-rodder would put together. I like it.
  22. Excellent build. You have made a beautiful car even more stunning. Really like the work you have done and appreciate the license plate.
  23. Excellent build and the changes add to the overall usability of the van. Only thing I see missing is some cow flop on the floor, you have the bull standing there already. When I was very young, 10 to early teens, my father worked at a livestock sale part-time and occasionally I would go with him. Some of those vans were sparkling on the outside, but inside was a different story.
  24. I could build a kit on a sterile table in the middle of a large, empty, warehouse and still lose at least one part. Unbeknownst to most modelers, or at least those that refuse to acknowledge it, there is a supernatural parts gremlin that hovers over every model table. When a modeler lays a part off to the side to "get to it later" the gremlin gobbles it up, belches, than lays back and laughs. You may think I am kidding, but I have heard him belch and the incessant giggles too many times in the past 60 years I have been building.
  25. I have used that wonderful toilet paper you find in places like WalMart or other public facilities. Most of it is single ply, however if you can find some of the 2-ply and separate it that is even better. Here are pictures of a '65 GTO AWB I have been working on for several years. I used spray glue, then painted over it. I got the paint a bit thick, used a can of Duplicolor sandable; an airbrush would have brought out the texture better. This also works well for headliners.
