  1. So let me get this straight. You took an awesome shiny build, made it an awesome old and rusty and neglected build, and now you are going to do a full restoration and make it shiny and perfect again? I think you're crazy. And I think it's fanastic! Looking forward to seeing it brought back to life.
  2. Dang. That's looking fantastic. Totally get what you said earlier. It may not be 100% accurate or "correct," but for most of us it sure looks right. Those tiny bolt heads would drive me nuts. I manage to lose track of bigger parts, like side mirrors, so building with this kind of detail would require a complete revamp of my bench!
  3. I've been trying different things with paint after watching some You Tube guys. There are some talented people out there, and it's always great to try some of their techniques. The black is looking good!
  4. If it's not too late, I'll get in on this one. Will use this as my entry. I built one way back in the day when I was 14 or 15 or so. Had been planning to start it this week anyway.
  5. You would think so, but then here we are.
  6. Beautiful paint! You just need to do a 2nd gen RX7 now!
  7. Whoa. I didn't even see this thread when I posted mine earlier. Looks like we have the same idea for colour. After some of the issues I had with mine, I was thinking I'd get another kit and do something very similar to what you did. Nicely done!
  8. Yeah, not just you. I debated whether to go with the plastic emblems or just make decals. Or just fill the holes and leave it bare. I didn't glue them in, so might still remove them and make decals.
  9. Something a little different. This is Italeri's Volvo 760 GLE, I believe original issue from the 80s. Very simple kit that produces a reasonable facsimile of this boxy classic. Went together well, but I had two issues. First, the ride height. The pics you see are AFTER i shaved off some parts to try and lower it. I guess with some black trim, this could be easily turned into a 760 XC! Second, the front grille/headlights did not fit well. Sanded, trimmed, shaved. Just not a great fit. And the hood seemed too flat. Still, I like this kit, and wouldn't mind grabbing one of the new reissues and building a modified version. Lowered suspension, BBS wheels, etc. Paint is Duplicolour's GM Light Blue Metallic. Interior is a Duplicolour Vinyl & Fabric paint. Suitably 80s colour combo. Built box stock, with the addition of some flocking. Turned out okay. The inspiration for colours. And the pics.
  10. I like it. The same company did a couple of Tahoe/Blazers a year or so ago that were also pretty awesome.
  11. Finally, Lambo designs a car that isn't overdone, overstyled, and over the top. i think it looks great. Although...at the end of the day it's just a rebodied Aventador. And I still think this is better looking.
  12. That rendering has been out there for a few years now. There's also one of the "new" Chevelle that is almost as bad. Nice idea, but no.
  13. Big show today. Tons of cars & trucks, weather was great. Alberta Beach is a small community on the shores of Lac St Anne, about 15 min from my house. It's always been a small town/village, but over the past decade, it's been attracting some big money, and a lot of the summer cottages are coming down and being replaced with significantly larger houses. And most of these people have toys, so they started a car show. And here we go.
  14. Your build looks excellent! If that goes together as well as Meng's other kits, then it will be fantastic.
  15. My username dates back to 1989-1990 or so. My old thrash metal band in high school. I was the guitar player, and back then, you had to have blazing solos in every song, and during gigs there had to be a solo spot. I'm pretty sure it was a law. Anyway, before a solo, or when introducing the band, our singer would always introduce me as Superdan. I always thought it was cheesy, but whatever. I rolled with it. And now 30 years later, I still use it online and in my Hotmail. My Hotmail address is old enough that I didn't require numbers or dashes or anything, so that's cool.
  16. A lot of people say they want a more simple car, but then when you stick them in a basic, older car, they complain about the lack of features/comfort/performance/etc. Case in point, I just leased a new 2021 F350 XLT to a long time client. He's always had loaded pickups. Said he wanted something more simple this time, too much to go wrong with his other trucks. He's 2 months into his lease. We just ordered him a loaded 2022 F350 Platinum because this XLT "isn't as nice." He wants his vented and massaging seats, and the adaptive steering, and the big sunroof, and blind spot monitoring. Ahh well, the customer is always right. For me, as much as I enjoy a lot of the electronics and tech in modern cars, I do appreciate the simplicity of older ones. Within reason. If the tech makes the car more reliable and dependable, then I'm all for it. Modern ignition and fuel systems, power steering, ABS, LED lighting. If the tech makes me more comfortable, then I'm all for it. AC, bluetooth, satellite radio, remote start, heated seats. I don't need all the other stuff, and I could not care less where my vehicles are built. Build quality and overall value are far more important to me.
  17. You mean that black gasser thing? He pretty much dailies that one during the summer. I'll get some more pics for you next time I see it. There's a big show tomorrow, I guarantee he'll be there!
  18. Start with Black Holes and Revelations. Then go a little older with Absolution. Both are absolutely killer albums.
  19. Muse are kind of a massive group! Been a fan for many, many years now. If you ever get a chance to see them live, DO IT. One of the best concerts I've ever attended.
  20. This is going to be a great one to follow.
  21. The small town I'm from does a show n shine every Wednesday throughout the summer. I managed to find half an hour to head up this evening. Lots of cool stuff there. Pretty wide variety too.
