  1. Another great trade experience. Have no worries if you trade with afx!
  2. Why do I love this truck so much? Yes, I know it's not a "real" truck anymore. But I think this thing is awesome. And he does use it to haul stuff for his business.
  3. I grabbed a few over the past week. Been wanting the Tyrone Malone trucks for a while, and the Volvo was too good a deal to pass up.
  4. In Canada, we have a joke about the seasons. We have two: winter and construction. Well, the small town I live in is takeing that seriously this year. First, they start construction on a major north/south road last summer. However, they forgot to get a permit from CN Rail when it came to work around the tracks, so that has been delayed for a year now, effectively cutting a subdivision off from the rest of the town. So that road is supposed to be done by fall. Now CN Rail has said they are twinning the tracks through town. Which will affect the four north-south roads the tracks cross. The main north/south road is being widdened and repaved this summer and next spring. One of the main east/west roads is also being widened and repaved. So from where my subdivision is, three of the four main access roads are being completely redone. Let's take on literally EVERY major road project at the same time. Will be nice when done, but it's going to be a frustrating summer.
  5. I ordered somehting yesterday afternoon. Free two day shipping, they've guaranteed delivery on Saturday. Should be interesting becuase I have everything delivered to me at work, and we're not open on weekends. And most of my stuff arrives via Canada Post, which definitely doesn't work on weekends. I'm a big fan of Amazon. As my credit card will attest.
  6. It would be interesting if I had two of the same kit. Build one with all the peeves, and then build one with the peeves removed. Now having said that, my skills aren't up to the task of perfection that some around here consistantly acheive, but I think even with my average skil,ls there would be a noticeable difference. As an experiment, I might just go out and buy two kits and do this. Hmm...
  7. The local Edmonton Police Service uses mainly the Ford Police Interceptor SUV and the Chevrolet Tahoe these days. There are a few Ford Police Interceptor Sedans, but not too many. The Chargers in EPS livery above were an experiment that did not pan out. The Edmonton police and local RCMP also run new Ford F150 Supercabs. THese are all grey and unmarked, except for some strobe lights if you look carefully. Local RCMP use the Ford Police SUV and sedan, plus a few Chevrolet Silverado 1500s and Ford F150. The Alberta Sheriffs run Ford Police SUV & sedan, plus a few Dodge Chargers. Their SUVs are both fully decalled and "ghost." The ghost ones are interesting. I've seen both black and white. The white ones run reflective white decalling. The black ones run reflective black decals. Can't see anything until the light hits them just right!
  8. Here's some interesting things we've had locally over the years.
  9. You know what? I'm totally going to do this. At first I just said it as a joke, but I went through this thread and have a list of 30 peeves. This is going to be fun.
  10. Turned out great! And the colour choice is perfect. BF Gaadrich. I'll never get tired of that.
  11. I think the build looks great, but you're right. What is going on with those wheels? Surprised to see that from a Fujimi kit. Overall though, nice job!
  12. clearlyscale.com has a very nicely detailed Hellcat engine!
  13. Personally, I open everything I get. I want to open it up and check out the pieces, make sure everything is there and in good condition. I've had a Revell Challenger that had no tires in it, and a Revell Ramcharger with an insanely warped body. Had I not checked, I'd never know until I tried to build them. And at the rate I'm going, they'd be vintage kits before I get to them. Then I'd have no hope for replacement parts. As for future value...I honestly could not care less. I buy kits, whether new or old, with the intention of building them. They'll be opened eventually, might as well open them now and check it out. Future value means exactly zero to me. Ktis are a hobby, not an investment. My two cents.
  14. I'm going to make a note of every pet peeve in this thread, and then build one kit that incorporates all of them. Making heads explode!
  15. That's the stuff of my dreams now! I'd love an Esprit. But at 6'6", I don't fit.
  16. So I flipped the fenders back to the way I like them. Test fit the engine, and I'm happy. Engine sits exactly how I wanted it. Plenty of clearance for the hood. Now to try adding the turbocharger and the intercooler. Interior is going to be a challenge for me.
  17. Found this for about half what they normally go for, couldn't resist. Brand new and sealed.
  18. Personally, I don't count photoshop creations as being "eligible" for this thread.
  19. Holy cow. Is there anyone who has had more kits made of their cars than him?
  20. Thanks guys! I kind of figured this was the reasoning behind it. Can you imagine, if they change that rule? Have you seen the typical U-Haul renter? Most of them have no business with a cargo van, let alone a cubevan or a trailer.
  21. Looks great!
  22. I love it! Reminds me of the B32.
  23. Will a scale 14" work? http://www.clearlyscale.com/product/rs-fuch-classic-14-wheel-set-of-4
  24. That paint is fantastic! Super impressed with this one!
  25. Question for the truck experts. I see a lot of trucks around with "Not For Hire" decals on them. In most cases, it's on a tractor that is hauling a large 5th wheel camper, or maybe a race hauler. It seems that if a truck is not being used as a commercial vehicle, they have "Not For Hire" decals. Is there some sort of legal reason for this? Just curious. Pics of examples, and one pic that's just cool.
