I checked the Dekalb HL and my Dad and Sister checked the Dekalb Michaels today, negatory on both of those places, but Brian's Hobby also on Rt 23 in Dekalb has a few. Don't have the money for one at full price right now (did pick up those AMT L60's though!), so I'll probably go back next weekend for one.

Testors Model Master paint
Joe Handley replied to crazyjim's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Same here, I've used them on lexan R/C bodies for years, especially after Testors stupidly pulled the Pactra paint line for a while. When I was still with HobbyTown, we sold a decent amount of those paints for the Pinwood Derby kids too. -
I like that paint job alot more than the Barris movie car paint. Was there any special trimming needed to get the Duster chassis to fit?

What did you see on the road today?

Wow, that is a rare sight! -

I kinda, want to do something like this with, but with a Revell '69 Daytona for the main body, their '68 Charger for the fender and quarter extensions, and a couple ACR Viper kits for the chassis..........sofar I only have the '68 Charger kit -
I still need to find one, but Ialso want to get a set the AMT L60's to put on all 4 corners like Dad did on the 1:1 he and Mom had.

"Too Many '69 Camaros and '32 Fords!"
Joe Handley replied to Casey's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Generally, I don't, I'm waiting on the FE-3x version og the Hurst-Olds Cutlass kit, just bought the Foose Caddy kit a couple weeks ago, if somebody would follow the R/C market and make a version of the XJ Cherokee like my family has owned 5 of, I'd buy a case of them, if not more. -

Joe Handley replied to Casey's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Honestly, I'd be happy with more modern cars, even if they were models of cars built in tne 22 years since I graduated high school! -
I had a magazine with an article on it, but it's buried the the storage area I have models stashed in, but everything is buried behind stuff that belong to my Dad and Sister to the point I can barely get in the locker........amazing looking car and I'm kinda surprised there isn't a resin body for this.

fords upcoming mustang
Joe Handley replied to rel14's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
The only thing that REALLY scares me on my 200 is the cam drive and timing systems, the VVTi parts in particular! -

That's why I bought the lifetime extended warranty for my 200 when I got it 5.5 years ago, if any old car problems arise, take it to the dealer with a $100 bill and let them get dirty and frustrated on the non basic stuff. That said, one dead transaxle past the 100k where the factory warranty drops out will pay for that extrended warranty! -
Someone please take the chrome away from the designers
Joe Handley replied to HomerS's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
Agreed, my Cherokee is that way where the only colors that deviate from the green or flat black is the lighting, wheels (Aluminum, but now corroded), and badging (dull silver). If I ever get tp redo it, I'd like to stick with a natural or painted aluminum/hyper silver finish on the rims, swap the front parking lights out for aftermarket clear lenses to match the pre '97 models, the more chrome like badging off the new KL Cherokee Limited, and the chromed grill and headlight trim off the 2001 XJ Limiteds and maybe even see if it's possible to fit the older pre '97 chromed bumpers with the post '96 bumper caps and maybe even the chromed pre '97 door handles. -

I tend to agree, especially if the wheels aren't some sort of steel rim, stylized or basic looking. Oddly enough, I do really like these rwo all blacked out for some odd reason........ -

That is all my Kid Sister's work, she saw it on line. She had ordered a cake, but when things looked dire Thursday, she cancelled the order, which is fine, since Mom can't eat right now anyway.

It's Mom and Dad's 50th Anniversary today, at one point this week, we didn't think Mom was going to make it, but she did!

I just ignore them most of the time, although every now and then I overhear something that makes me chuckle from one of the little "news clip" things Speedway plays.

What do you drive?
Joe Handley replied to gasman's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Nothing current, Little Sister found some pictures of cars our parents owned while digging for pictures to use for their 50th wedding anniversary this weekend. Including the '70 Charger R/T they bought new, the '76 Dodge pickups Dad (the black one with the white topper) and Grandma and Grampa bought new around the time I was born, our '78 Chevy Beauville Van on Daytona Beach was well as in our driveway here in West Chicago and me in my "first car" not long after we moved back here from Iowa (well for them it was back here, anyway). -
My parents 50th wedding anniversary is coming up on Saturday and while my Kid Sister was going through pictures for a collage shaped like the number 50 she found a couple pictures of the '70 Mom and Dad had before I was born! While when they ordered it in late '69, Dad didn't want anything that stood out to anybody who might want to run against it.........or write the driver a ticket, hence the somewhat subdued appearance for a musclecar, he didn't skimp under the hood! This was a factory 440 Six Pack 4 Speed, Super Track Pack car! He has said that at one point he was running L60-15's on all 4 corners of the car too.

Bargains at Hobby Lobby
Joe Handley replied to berr13's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I ran into that at the Naperville, IL HL, picked up a '71 Charger and Surf Woody for myself and a first gen Blazer, Volare, another Charger and a couple other kits for the raffles the club I joined does. Between all of the discount kits, the Foose Caddy, and some batt-op LED Christmas lights for a Halloween project, I dropped around $100.........I had only intended to buy the lights and the Caddy, if this HL had it yet, but that didn't work out so well today........... -
I picked one of these up at Hobby Lobby today, the windshield frame came out of the box OK.

See The Usa In Your Electric Chevorlet
Joe Handley replied to martinfan5's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Thanks, my thouht there is to make it a big, Impala sized car that can be had either way, electric, called the Electra or the hybrid with a small V-6 or a large 4 Cylinder, possibly turboed around 2.25 liters as a generator called the Electra 225 that would have extended range capability like a Volt does. -

Just thought of something, if the electric revolution ends up crossing over to the other brands, wonder if Buick would bring back the Electra nameplate for an electric/hybrid model?!
