They may have just stumbled / lucked into great timing! Due to the panicdemic stay-y’all-home shutdown of spectator sports, the network(s) and NASCAR have been running vintage/classic old races. Tom Carter of Spotlight Hobbies says that has triggered a remarkable uptick in sales of the old NASCAR kits you couldn’t give away the past few years!

Oh, man, Chris! What a great guess: the ‘65 Lark Daytona! Wrong, but a great guess. I wish that’s what it was . . . Sorry. It does sound fun, though. I don’t have permission to announce what it is, but if someone gets it, well . . . I haven’t been told it can’t be confirmed . . . ?

I'm at 16,294 - but I know there's a couple of guys that have racked up more than that. -
Atlantis Models has bought another lot of tooling/molds.....

I received a beta kit today. No, not a plastic fish assembly kit. I'm one of four guys selected by the manufacturer to get a pre-production kit to "beta test" . . . build it and report a detailed review to the manufacturer so that any necessary adjustments (if any) can be made before releasing the kit for sale. Can't identify it yet; no hints now. It's an exciting subject and a very impressive, comprehensive, extensive kit! But, it will fill a 55 year hole in our hobby! Just wait till you see this! We have a short timeline, as the manufacturer wants to announce it for release in about a month. So, I have to drop everything to commence this emergency build. If it's as good as it looks in pieces, it will be a crowning touch for this manufacturer and extinguish a burning desire in the hobby! Stand by - and save some of your disposable income. Don't let it burn a hole in your pocket, you're gonna like this! More to come . . . ?

Snake is correct. But to add additional illumination to the subject, the optional running lights in the fender tips were not available on Bel Airs or Biscaynes. Impala optional, Caprice standard. Gotta separate out those classes!

WAY PAST IRKED! Well into PI$$ED! Mailed a Priority package to an address I've mailed dozens (or scores) of packages to over the years with no trouble, always delivered on time. NOT NOW. Mailed the package on 07-13-2020, Priority, from Phoenix to Denver with a promised delivery date of 07-17-2020. Tracking shows it was in Denver by 07-16-2020 and put on a truck for delivery 07-17-2020. No delivery scan. Never delivered. Still hasn't been delivered. Vanished. I put a trace on it 07-24-2020 per their procedures. Received a very unsympathetic call from USPS Idiot chick in Denver on 07-24-2020. Was told I should call the recipient to ask if it was delivered. I don't think so, for two reasons: 1) The recipient ALWAYS calls as soon as a package is received . . . recipient hasn't called, so it hasn't been received. 2) It was supposed to be a surprise. Calling the recipient kinda screws that, no? Oh, yeah, and what the ph**k is Tracking for? I'm supposed to call the recipient to find out if it was delivered or not? Then I didn't need to pay so much extra for secure handling and tracking, huh? It was put on the truck and never got off the truck. GO FIND IT! Go look in the friggin' truck. Arrest the delivery guy or guyette for mail theft! Whatever. The Denver USPS Idiot chick told me I should contact the shipper and ask them to send a replacement package. HELLO? A) I'm the shipper. I don't have to contact myself, I already know it's AWOL. B ) The package did not contain merchandise, it contained heirlooms from my recently deceased Love-of-My-Life (the Lovely and Gracious Mrs. B ) intended for the recipient. There's no replacement on the planet. GO FIND THE ph**king package! I was told (rudely) I should get over it and file an insurance claim. Been three days since the second call where the same USPS Idiot Chick told me to just send another. Right. Like I'm supposed to trust you fools now? Besides, did you not listen? See "B" above. Sheeeez! The local delivery truck can only be so big. How the H-E-double-hockey-sticks can they lose it? Thank you one and all for allowing me to vent. I needed to get that out. I'm afraid I've gone postal. -danno-

Well, aren't I lucky!!!??!!! I just received - in today's mail - an enevleope marked "IMMEDIATE ACTION REQUIRED." Inside was a subscription renewal for Scale Auto Magazine!! Ironically, it pointed out that the August 2020 issue would be my last if I didn't immediately renew. LOL. But I got the last laugh, huh? The August 2020 issue really is my LAST . . . and I didn't even have to renew my subscription!!! Bwaa haa haa! -
Yikes! YIKES! Yikesahooties!!!

Thanks, Tom. That is high praise, coming from you. We were very pleased that the event came to fruition nearly exactly as we envisioned it. And, we really enjoyed the experience, too! Icing on the cake was that it was well received. Thrilled us! Danno

Sprit of Speed 6 - Pomona, CA November 8 - CANCELLED
Danno replied to sfhess's topic in Contests and Shows
Scott, Sorry to hear this. I had hoped to get over there for this one, but I certainly understand both the difficulty and the necessity of the decision. I’ll keep my eyes and ears out for next year’s event. Good luck! danno -

Very sorry to hear this news, although it was pretty much inevitable I guess. I can certainly relate. As you outlined, Tom, the state’s dictates make it impossible to conduct a successful event — without even getting into the danger/safety reckless/cautious right/wrong aspects of it all. In the end, with the constraints currently in place, you guys have no choice. It left you no way to run a railroad! On the other hand, it will make next year all the more desirable and impossible to miss! Good luck! danno
