  1. Well, now you're really in luck! Now you live a verrrrrrrrrry long 3,293 miles from where your magazine departs.
  2. It is a "hailer" (official name) or "pull down" (slang) lighted sign. Decades ago when it was developed, it was a common (but extremely dangerous now) procedure for a law enforcement officer to pull alongside an offender and signal the offender to pull over and stop. Often done with a hand signal (pointing to the curb), somebody got the idea to create this light-up sign to "hail" motorists to stop for nighttime traffic stops. Hand signals don't work well in the dark. As the law enforcement vehicle pulled up alongside the offender's vehicle, the officer positioned the front clip of the police vehicle alongside the offender's driver's door, then switched on the "stop" light on the hood. It would be directly in the offender's line of sight while not exposing the officer to any more hazard than necessary. As the offender slowed, the officer slowed and fell in behind the offender, having gotten his/her attention and having conveyed the 'pull over and stop' message via the "hailer" light. Michigan has kept the device as a nod to tradition even as the officer-hazard danger has made stops of that nature too risky.
  3. The best way to make a small fortune in the resin-casting business in the model car hobby is to start out with a large fortune.
  4. Super job, Ray!! Sorry you're going to miss DSC.
  5. Matt, We haven't seen your registration. We've been experiencing some computer connectivity issues with the online registration, so yours may have failed (no fault of yours). Please fill out the manual registration form (as many as you need, there's no limit to how many entries you want to bring) and either scan & email them or snail mail them. Email: dsc12@cox.net Snail: DSC12 c/o Dan Baker, 6635 W. Happy Valley Road #104-228, Glendale, AZ 85310. Many apologies for any inconvenience. NOTE to everyone: If you try to register online, you will receive an email response to confirm your registration was received. No response = it was not received. We're working on fixing it, but to be safe, please submit a manual registration until further notice. Class Information and Registration forms attached.   6. LOL. Hard to tell from the pic, but you may be right about that part being the "radio." And, if it is, you're probably also right about the size. The older tube radios had larger control heads and microphones. Miniaturization started later. What's funny is the '57 Ford has an oversized radio control head and this '48 Ford has an undersized control head. They should have swapped the parts. On the other hand, maybe it's a marketing ploy. They could sell the '48 and '57 in pairs for those of us who care about accuracy and scale fidelity. Buy the pair and swap the control heads. Everyone else can keep using over-height beacons from Johan and grotesquely malformed sirens from Revell and misshapen spotlights from Revell and heavy radio antennas (molded the size of electrical conduit) - if an antenna is included in a kit at all. {Oh. Did I say all that out loud? Sorry.}
  7. This kit is great. If it "makes nobody happy," as someone said above, then there will be plenty available for me to buy!! No shortages for some of us.
  8. Does somebody actually use the kit's distributor?
  9. LOL. I commented in the other thread. It is a HUGE improvement ~ even though I rarely ever had any damage to mine before and when I received one in less than pristine condition it was never any serious damage. Regardless, the even bigger story is that Gregg & friends have established their own publishing company and are now in much greater control of MCM's destiny. The bagging of issues is a part of that. Congrats, Gregg, Kelly, Darryl, Harry & all. Good fortune with the new venture!
  10. So, Joe. Now you're going with John's girls? {Good of him to share.} Seriously, man! This is so kewl building. Can't wait to see you . . . and it. 25 to go!
  11. Great pix, Bob!

    Gorgeous!!
  13. Outstanding project, Aaron!! I'll be following this.
  14. Beautiful, Randy! Beautiful. And, your black one is just like my 1:1 was. It is superb.
  15. Niiiiiice!!! What's not to like about a Studey? And, two-dey Studeys? SCORE!
  16. The chrome tree has a '30 Ford radiator shell and radiator (lower one) and a '32 Ford grille (upper one). The '32 radiator shell is probably on one of the trees not shown. '30 radiator shell/radiator on left test shot. '32 radiator shell/grill on right test shot.
  17. Good job. (No radio/s?)
  18. Good job.
  19. Soldier On, Chris! You can do it! Not a big setback. You will prevail.
