76 Dodge long bed
mchook replied to mchook's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Me too, They're such good looking trucks to me. I think they'd sell pretty good if somebody reissued them. Thanks a lot guys. It's been tough finding time to work on this thing. Work, fixing my daughter's car, getting ready for winter & a snow storm of 3"-6" today isn't gonna help. -
Model A p/u

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one still using rattle cans. Keep it up, looks good so far. I'll be watching too, I love the old Model A's. -

I got most of the chassis done. I used the front & rear ends from a Ramcharger kit. The stance & fit looks o.k. to me. -
Very Cool!!! I did one like this back in the early 90s. I used a Monogram F350 duallie nose, chassis & scratch built the interior. Nothing as detailed & cool as this though. AWESOME WORK!!!

Thanks guys, I appreciate all the compliments. It makes me feel good that you guys think it looks that good. I don't buy much aftermarket stuff for detailing, I just use what I have scrounged from old electronics & whatever I find for wiring & plumbing. Thanks for the offer Jon but I got something that will work. PM me your address & I'll send you the front end I have, It's built but should work fine. Don't worry about trading anything, I'm happy to give it to you to help out a fellow modeler. -
Dodge Power Wagon

Nice work! I love these old trucks, I pushed a lot of snow for years with one. I'd like to find one too & build one like my old plow truck. -
I started this about 6 years ago & it still sits on the shelf yelling at me to work on it. I have others but this one yells the loudest.

You took the words right out of my mouth. -
Your right! I would love to have any or all of the choices you put up here. When I was a kid we had a 41 Studebaker like your 2nd picture & it was cool. My father got it from a guy who couldn't start it. He didn't know that you had to push the clutch down to the floor to get the starter to spin. I think he paid $50 for it back then, I'd pay almost that for a good kit of one today.

Anyone know where I can find some 4x4 springs & axles for this? -
I've tried the salt thing and just can't seem too make it work. I love the look but I just can't do it myself. I use the red oxide primer first too, & I lay it on pretty heavy. Then add light coats of whatever paint colors I want to use, sometimes I use 2 or 3 different colors. Then I sand lightly to get to the different colors and I chip paint with a dull knife or toothpick. It takes practice but it's fun and with your building talents you'll have no problem making it look great in no time. Here's a couple & my first 49 Ford junker...

Thanks Brad, I like your set up, it's pretty cool. I got the cab & box in primer finally after some filling & lots of sanding. The hood needed those big holes filled too. The chassis isn't in bad shape but I need to find a front & rear end for it. I thought I had one in my stash but I can't find it. I found a 2wd set up but that's not gonna work for me here. I found an older style grill I like better too but it needs some help. -
I got this in a lot the other day & I think I'm going to use it to tow my Honda Odyssey. She's soaking to get rid of those decals now.

I like them all, but I love that C-cab!

X2 I love this truck!!! -
I'm not sure if this belongs here so if it's wrong section I'm sorry. I got this off ebay a few weeks back and couldn't deal with it being a 1979 so I tried to make it look more like one from 1981 ish. My best friend had one & we use to ride it & a Honda 350x three wheeler all over the trails here in the Catskills. I added the roll bar, net, air intake, some wires, throttle & brake controls, lights and red paint instead of the yellow. I have to work on the trailer next & then find something better too pull it with. Any suggestions?

What did you see on the road today?
mchook replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Hi Tom, N.Y. does have channel 6 news, it's a local Hudson Valley news channel. I see the trucks every once in a while, I'm kinda out in the boonies so it takes something kinda important for them to come around. -
It looks great! I kept up with the build on the workbench, & man you do some great work! Thanks for sharing.
