I am confused, the box says 1/25 scale but if each of the squares on the grid is 1 inch then it’s a 15 inch model. What scale is that?

That’s looking real nice!??

"Bring Out Your Dead" Completion Build--ROUND 2 Is On!
Superbird McMonte replied to Snake45's topic in WIP: Model Cars
So I had three days worth of downtime while I waited for the voting to get done on my next project. And guess what? I finished the Yenko Deuce Nova! So my Nova project is done! Now onto the winner of the vote the Austin! -
Voting is closed and it looks like my next “Gitter Done” is the AUSTIN! Dad’s 58 Chevy was a close 2nd only because someone mentioned the Austin as a second choice! That was the tie breaker!

"Bring Out Your Dead" Completion Build--ROUND 2 Is On!

I posted a new topic in the on the workbench section. It shows eight possible subjects for my next bring out your dead completion. Please go over and cast a vote. I will tally up the votes on Wednesday night. -
OK everyone, I came up a little idea on choosing my next bring out your dead project. The 1970 Monte finished up pretty quick. So it’s time to choose a second one for this round. Below are some pictures of potential candidates. Whatever project gets the most votes by Wednesday 6pm eastern will be my next “gitter done” ?? #1 1958 Impala convertible This will be a replica of my father’s first car. The 58 Chevy is very near and dear to me. Here are a couple of pictures of dad’s car. #2 1969 Camaro This one is another family car. My mom drove a 69 Camaro in the mid 70s. Here is a picture of mom’s car. #3 1968 Hurst Olds convertible This one is not really too long dead. I started the conversion on this after I finished at the 69 Hurst Olds convertible a month or so ago. The question on this one would be should I do it gold or silver? I’m leaning towards gold since I already have a silver 68 hardtop. #4 1969 Baldwin Motion Camaro I painted this one around 15 to 20 years ago. The hood is glued in place so there will be no engine detail. This one is eventually to be towed by a 69 Phase lll Chevelle as part of a diorama. It also replaces the Camaro like this that I sold to Joel. #5 1970 Oldsmobile Rallye 350 This is another one that was painted at least 15 years ago. The details are of my own creation. I had bought a set from Fred Cady But was not happy with the hood decals. #6 1970 Yenko Deuce Nova This one was painted in 2008 according to my Fotki page. It’s been sitting in red paint since then. I had drawn up decals on my computer but the trunk decals weren’t long enough to wrap down to the bumper. I adjusted the decals a couple days ago and printed them out. After listening to The Model Car podcast, I picked up a can of Upol spray clear urethane they had talked about, and use this as my test subject. It worked very well. The engine and chassis are pretty much done for this one too so really wouldn’t take much time to finish it up. #7 1971 Ferrari Daytona coupe and spider These are a two-for. The chassis and engines are pretty much done too. But these are very intricate kits by Fujimi. #8 1948 Austin This will be a replica of my friends car. And I will be giving it to him when it’s done. Unfortunately I’ve had it over a year. So there you have it! Eight projects to choose from. Please only vote once. I will tally up the votes Wednesday night! Please cast your vote in this thread.

Box Art 1970 Monte Carlo is done! The decals on this kit are made by me 100%. The decals in the kit were no good. I drew the replacements on my laptop but changed the driver name to my own.? -

"Bring Out Your Dead" Completion Build--ROUND 2 Is On!

1970 Monte Carlo progress: The engine is painted with automotive Chevy engine orange. This was the easiest way to align the carburetors. I drilled out the velocity stacks. Not sure if that’s what they are called, but.... I guess the drilled out part should be chrome too. -

"Bring Out Your Dead" Completion Build--ROUND 2 Is On!
Superbird McMonte replied to Snake45's topic in WIP: Model Cars
I’d like to throw this original 1970 Monte Carlo into the ring. I’ve always wanted to do box stock/box art versions of the 70, 71 and 72 Monte Carlo. I think I just won a number of years ago after making my own decals for it. I didn’t trust the old decals so I drew them up on the computer with one slight change, I put my own name on the door. This will be a relatively simple build, but I figured I would be doing more than one project again. But I would like to think that these will be the other two in this time’s trifecta. The first one is a 1968 Olds convertible. I’m planning on another shifter car. And car number three is a 1969 Oldsmobile called “COMMITION” by Motion! This is the 1/18 scale deicast I’m going off for most reference. -
Jaguar short nose D-type from street to race
Superbird McMonte replied to Superbird McMonte's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Oh yeah! The day eggs stand on end! -
I discovered these cars almost 20 years ago when I was working for a model builder. Ever since then I wanted to build a 1/24 or 1/25 scale replica D-type short nose race car. There was a slotcar available in that scale but it is not proportioned well at all. So I found a Revell of Germany XK SS and I decided to convert it to race form. So last night I decided to try and detail up one of the wheels make it a little more accurate. My okan was to cast it in resin. So I threw it in the purple pond last night. Small issue, or should I say large? I will let the pictures speak them selves, but has anyone else had this happen? I don’t want an Donk race car!

Count me in for round 3! -
I know I have some but I haven’t seen them since I moved. I let you know if I find them. Where’s comes to worse I’ll make another mold. I need more of them too!
-
I love those early Vettes! Great job and great stance!

It’s an easy conversion to a 4-speed in the Monte Carlo. I did mine a few years back. It took less than a week! EVERYTHING is Chevelle except for the bracket on the frame for the Z-bar.
-
You are correct! There are no documented LS-6 Monte Carlos or LS-5 with a 4-speed Monte Carlo. The 396 in a Monte Carlo is actually called at 402. And it was available with a four-speed. Something like 89 of them were built. The 400 in a Monte Carlo was a small block, and then you had the base 350. Those were the only four engines available. In the end, the First Generation Monte Carlo Club and National Monte Carlo Owners Association are waiting for someone to actually come up with documents proving an SS454 4-speed or LS-6 car ever existed.

Ever since I mastered and cast this L88 hood for the 1970-72 Monte Carlo, I’ve been itching to build a “what if” Baldwin Motion Monte Carlo. I know Baldwin Motion never offered to modify the Monte Carlo when they were due. I’m hoping this will follow in the spirit of a Motion type build. The tires are from the Baldwin Motion 1971 Camaro. I cast these slotted wheels for my Baldwin Motion Phase III Corvettes. I felt that the Buick GSX deck lid spoiler fit the Monte Carlo pretty well! I’m thinking of using the GSX chin spoiler too. I look at it this way, if Baldwin Motion could get a Chevrolet Biscayne to do the quarter mile in 11 1/2 seconds, the Monte Carlo could’ve been done too. I’m going to send these pictures to Joel tonight and see what he thinks. I’m also going to ask him if there was a reason behind excluding the Monte Carlo from the line up. As always questions and comments are welcome.
