  1. I thought you would of squeezed a what if pickup truck into that lineup.
  2. I would ride all 3 of those, maybe not all out.......who am I kidding, I would peg the throttle and see what they can do. I have taken a few trips to the ER after the phrase " I bet you can't....."
  3. I have used blue painters tape to cover large openings, but I put Tamiya tape at the edges first so the blue tape only touches the Tamiya. Painters tape is a lot cheaper than the Tamiya so I figured to save a few pennies. Has worked well so far.
  4. If you are not happy with the service, then stop using them. Others will continue to use them until they are not happy with the service. Individuals have different thresholds of what is acceptable. There are other options out there. Once he gets situated his service will get better, or it won't. I think some of these establishments order the paint from their supplier after you order it from them. Perhaps the shipping labels are generated when they put the order into their supplier and part of the wait is the time it takes for the supplier to deliver your order to the reseller. If you are not willing to wait from a supplier you know takes a long time to deliver (which is most of the small volume auto paint resellers) don't order from them. Go to Walmart or your local auto parts store and get instant gratification.
  5. I started with model aircraft around 1973 or so. As I got older my interest shifted to model cars. The father of one of the families in our neighbor hood worked at a store (can't remember which one) and he brought kits home by the case and sold them to me for $5 each. This was when kits were in the $8-10 range. Just now thinking about it, I may have been purchasing stolen merchandise. I took 30 years off and just recently started back into the hobby.
  6. I enjoy these articles. Having photography as another hobby I am not very good at, they give me some new ideas to try.
  7. Welcome Mike. I started using your paints after hearing Steve recommend them. I have not been disappointed.
  8. I would like to sit and watch someone who does this kind of work. I mean sit and watch from start to finish.
  9. Saw this while browsing eBay. Here
  10. Here I am barely able to glue 2 premade pieces together. Can't wait to see how this one turns out.
  11. I used to race 1/8 scale on-road. There used to be an east coast series of races, Mid-Atlantic Championship (MAC). I had a lot of fun doing that. Had some spectacular 60 mph crashes as well. Ahh, the good 'ol days.
  12. Not sure how many kits get made in a day, but is it possible all the warpage issues are from a single batch or single day.
  13. The ones I have are stamped Champaign, Il
  14. I have ordered from them several times. I just fill out the form and mail it. Not the fastest method, but it does work.
  15. I just checked the two kits I have and both are fine. I didn't check every part, but the bodies were straight.
  16. Every now and then one or two show up on AutoTrader.com, but not very often.
  17. If you watch your browser to see what is loading when it slows down, it is almost always an ad site. It is the price we pay for a free forum.
  18. I don't think you can change your name. The administrator might be able to.
  19. There is no side mirror, it must be a model.
  20. Very nice. I always thought a cool diorama would be an assembly line of 4-6 war vehicles (trucks, planes, tanks or whatever) in various states of assembly in a factory setting. Would make a very nice, albeit large, display.
  21. You could always just tell them you would sell the model for $150. That is probably a good average cost when you factor in time and materials. If they buy it, great. If you scare them away, great.
  22. We all screw up models. The good modelers know how to hide their mistakes. I want to be a good modeler one day. Rough estimate - how many Cobras do you think you have Ray?
  23. You never know, you might get someone else interested in models. Of course you would be the go to guy for every question or problem. I have had a 125 gallon saltwater tank and an awful lot of taxidermy on display in my office. Maybe I should bring a display case in and show some models.
  24. My doctor described an MRI as a large magnet that looks into your soul. If the doctor can find the cause of the pain, like a ruptured disc, they can usually fix it. The longer you wait or just live with the pain, the greater the chance of permanent damage. Found that out the hard way.
