Thanks again to landman (Pat) for sending the decals I needed to finish this model. I got them installed on the headlight door and wing uprights today.

My wife - "does paint have to smell so bad", "is it done yet", "do you have to do that inside", "how many more do you need". The list goes on and on.

"junk" collections on ebay, already built, 'key word'
Xingu replied to fiatboy's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
List all the words you think could lead to what you are looking for and separate them with a comma. Be prepared to look at a lot of results. -
Around my house, all the illegal fireworks are set off by the police that live in my neighborhood. They are usually the fireworks confiscated last year from all the other criminals in the area. Does not pay to call the cops on the cops. I just hope they stop setting them off at a reasonable time. Last night there were done before 11:00pm.

Looks like everything is going nicely Kevin. Can't wait to see the final assembly.

Couple of MoPar wheel questions.....
Xingu replied to JollySipper's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Thanks guys. I hate when they don't put photos up. I will have to check them out. I intend to build several versions of the '67 Charger. -
Got mine yesterday and it is the first issue of my new subscription. I know a lot of folks have been upset that it has taken so long, I am not one of those folks. I would much rather the owner take it slow and steady until he gets it up and running efficiently again. No need rushing things to the point where the whole thing, including this forum, fails and has to be shut down.

Couple of MoPar wheel questions.....
Xingu replied to JollySipper's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Since we are talking Mopar wheels. Has anyone ever seen these wheel covers, either in a kit or reproduced in resin. I want to match the wheels on my '67 Charger. -
Steve, you need a better story. Something like.......The room temp has to be exactly 85.2°F, humidity less than 50%, use 1982 Mercedes-Benz black touch-up paint #040, shake the can 102 times, invert can, shake another 102 times, spray 2 light coats, quickly put piece in oven preheated to 106°F for 6 minutes, remove from oven, wait 24 hours, spray one more medium coat and then wait 72 hours before you touch it again. Now, when they ask you if you are serious, you can tell them you are pulling their leg and then tell them the truth.

Put paper down inside the booth or you will end up with paint on your bench. The sides are not tight fitting. They are nice units, I have one. Search "Portable Paint Booth" and you will find lots of them. There are several companies putting their name on it. Got mine from Amazon.

An apology
Xingu replied to The Modeling Hermit's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Doug - You display the models the way you want to. It isn't for others to complain about it. If they do, shame on them. Most folks love forced perspective photos and comment on how real they look. Your method, in my opinion, is just a variation of that. You definitely do not need to apologize. I just shoot my models, the same models everyone has seen dozens of times, in a plain white light box. I wish I had the skills to use a more realistic background. Continue on sir, you rock. -
Thanks. I have tried the Tamiya Light Sand, but wasn't happy with the results. However, I did not hit it with any clearcoat. I think I will try it again.

Thanks. I guess I am looking more for the leather look or feel, than the actual color. I see your point about all the different interpretations that could be made.

Looking for some advice. What brand and color paint will make for a realistic tan interior? I am looking for a medium/light tan to go with a metallic orange exterior color.

I have often thought to lower my 1:1 '67 Charger for a big tire pro touring look. I like the stance.

Thanks to one of the great members here, Pat (landman), I now have the Richard Petty decals that will let me finish this model correctly. This really is a great community of model builders. I will post up photos when I get them applied.

I started racing BMX in 1981 at age 14 and raced well into my 30's. Still have a cruiser in the shed, just in case. Started riding mountain bikes in the late 90's and even tried bicycle trials riding. Never competed, but rode with a guy that did. The problem I have is that I like to go fast and common sense usually doesn't kick in until after the crash. I generally ride alone and have limped out of the woods on more than one occasion. I used to have cardio for days, now it is cardio for about two hundred yards.

Compliments on posted models

Who said sarcasm cannot be conveyed on the internet. -
Base model A-Bodies get no love, which I why they are still affordable today. Brings back memories. Nicely done.

'67 Dodge Charger, MPC or Revell?
Xingu replied to Roadrunner's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I would not look forward to having to glue the front fender mounted turn signal indicators in place.
