  1. Well said, Peter........ Are we all done now? David
  2. Thank you Noel, and whereas Robert has sadly missed the point, you have understood my point exactly. David
  3. No Robert, that is not what I am saying...... I do not think the people who use the like button are stupid, but I am saying that they are LAZY How long does it take to hit the ' Like ' button, and how long does it take to type a well worded response message? See what I mean? David
  4. My view, for what it's worth....... I always try to make the effort to compose a meaningful and relevant response to a topic that a member has gone to the trouble of posting, when I have been reading their detailed explanation and studied their photos. As long as I have something to say that is complimentary about their important project, then I do think about what I am saying. The ' Like ' button, as someone mentioned, is jut plain lazy...... It is there for those who cannot be bothered to type an intelligent commentary. Sorry to be so blunt about the ' Like ' button people, but that is my honest opinion. This is one of many reasons why I do not like Facebook (no pun intended) David
  5. Well Christophe...... Findind space is always a problem ! Do you have a loft or attic space? Maybe you have a small spare room? This will depend upon the size of the diorama project of course...... The 1:24 scale models can soon grow to quite a large area of your home space ! David
  6. The folded hood mechanism that you assembled looked really good, Roman....... and it is a pity that this will not work for you, due to the thickness of the self-adhesive leather. What an interesting model this is ! David
  7. To be honest, Andrew..... my workbench is also a mess, with so much stuff piled up that there is very little space to WORK in. Every once in a while I do clear some workspace, and whatever works for each of us as model builders, that's fine ! I agree with Josh, about the plastic wrap around the base of your engine...... makes it look like a real engine waiting to be shipped or fitted to a vehicle. David
  8. No Andrew, that is just a short term fix...................... ! David
  9. You surprise me...... I assumed that you were only brush painting the primer, and then going on to airbrush or rattle can for the top coat.... brave man indeed! David
  10. You have produced a good finish on the primer bodywork, Mark......... You must be keen to get some colour on now ! David
  11. Beautiful engineering....... All that copper and brass ! David
  12. Thank you, Dennis.......... This is the most challenging aspect of scale model car building, and it is always rewarding when you get the model completed, despite all the setbacks. David
  13. The Red Bull RB14 is now waiting to have some matt clearcoat applied, while my attention has been diverted to the 1:12 scale Tamiya Lotus 49B vintage kit. I have borrowed an excellent reference book by Michael Oliver, from a local professional model builder who is a friend of mine, and this book is widely recognised as the ' Bible ' for anyone building the iconic Lotus 49 and also the Lotus 49B. Watched the Italian Grand Prix from Monza on Sunday, and saw Max Verstappen put his Red Bull RB16B on top of Lewis Hamilton's Mercedes, and it was the halo that saved Hamilton fromm serious injury or even death. David
  14. Some really nice work going on there, Urs....... Your AMG - GT3 will be an excellent build when you have it completed. Some very interesting detail work that you have done so far ! David
  15. Maybe sleeping close beside it ? You have a good sense of humour, Ricky ! David
  16. I would be thinking the same, having got this far into a lengthy build. White primer is a good idea, and then you should be able to see where this is going. David
  17. Oh no, Mark..... disaster strikes when you least expect it...... This sort of thing has hit me so many times with my most recent build. So hard to deal with ! I find that sleeping on it, and come back to the workbench the following morning with a fresh approach usually helps. David
  18. So as I understand this, Rodolfo..... the Meng version of the Ford GT40 kit has an engine, which the Fujimi version does not, but the Fujimi kit has a more accurate body...... is that correct ? Well done with your build, which looks great ! David
  19. You have posted a very clear sequence of photos, Josh, and the arrangement of text in relation to the parts is excellent..... This is how it should be done ! Your build is really good, and the quality of your workmanship is top notch Sir ! David
  20. Thank you, David...... This model race car has indeed fought back at every stage of the build, and to be honest with you, at one point I came very close to throwing in the towel and giving up. Somehow I got there in the end..... 5 weeks and 4 days from printing the 16 parts to completion. I do have a great deal of patience, but this Red Bull really pushed me to the limit ! David
  21. Thanks, Rex........ Yes, that was a really satisfying win for Max Verstappen at the Zandvoort circuit in Holland, and it was quite a sight to see all those orange Dutch fans going wild !............ My favourite F1 driver is Max, and I like to see those Red Bulls beating the Mercedes, even though Lewis Hamilton is British. The 3D printed RB14 from 2018 is my only 1:20 scale build, and I don't have any plans to build a second model in that scale. Currently, I am just starting work on a vintage 1:12 scale Tamiya Lotus 49B kit from 1968, and this was a kit that I built when I was 15 years of age in 1968, so 53 years ago and I am now coming up for 68 years of age ! David
  22. Yes, I have ordered some Matt Clearcoat, which will seal in the decals and also ensure that the bodywork has the true matt finish. The Red Bull Formula 1 cars are the only ones to have a matt finish. On the subject of 3D printing my own models, although it is something that I enjoy doing, the entire process can be very time consuming and there is always this issue with the layer lines (much sanding). There are some really nice kits that I like to build, such as the Moebius Hudson Hornet for example, and currently I am just starting to build the vintage 1:12 Tamiya Lotus 49B F1 kit from 1968. David
  23. Hi Mark..... No, the driver figure is a 1:20 resin figure made in Greece, whereas the 16 parts of the car are 3D printed by myself. David
  24. Just a few photos taken outdoors, as it was such a hot, sunny day........ 19 degrees C. David
  25. Well, the Max Verstappen driver figure is now seated in the cockpit of this Red Bull RB14...... It was necessary to cut off some further resin material from around the knees area, and also I had to smear Vaseline over the sides and back of the figure to ease Max into his seat. The steering column was guided into the hole on the dashboard, and the driver's hands were persuaded to clasp the steering wheel. What a struggle, but he's in place ! There might be some additional helmet detail, which will be red markings on top of the driver's helmet. David
