Sure it can be done. Cut close to the image and soak all the glue off as mentioned. Once applied and protected it’ll be fine.

How would you tackle this? (NASCAR)
Oldriginal86 replied to SgtForce's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
On surfaces that aren’t glossy it’s best to cut as close as possible to the image. I’ve never had luck with decal solutions making them stick better to these surfaces. It’s more to soften and allow the decal to lay in the contours. -

That is a sharp looking truck. Well worth building in scale. -

That is a very nice color on just about any model. With different base colors, the finished color can be manipulated. Silver or gold base makes the metal flake pop. With a dark base it will come out as a “black cherry” look. That color red is semi transparent so be sure the base coat is consistent all over. Good luck and post the results. -

Enamel has always been my go-to airbrushing paint. Little Testors jars mostly. Thinned with enamel reducer. The shine produced usually needs no clear. Light polishing to remove nibs and you’re good to go. Negative about enamel is the drying time. -
I’d like to jump on this. I have a Boyd’s truck that I wasn’t really interested in building so this might be the push I need. Like the idea of no deadline too.

I hope they include the whitewall tires like shown on the box art. Disappointed that the 64 SS Nova didn’t have them.

So much negativity on the internet these days, it’s refreshing to hear a genuine compliment.

Nicely done. Two things that caught my eye to add to the realism was the partially filled bottle on the inner fender and the reflection of the tailpipe extensions in the bumper. Well built and photographed.

Alternator case fix questions
Oldriginal86 replied to Bucket T's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
We use a local electrical shop for our alternators, starters and thruster motors. There is a large basket full of end frames for alternators. Should be a shop that rebuilds this stuff near you that can put a new housing on. -

Which issue was the subject kit? I have two in the stash, go cart one and the other is a picture of a green built up.
