of stale jokes Awesome work y'all, over 500 pages! LOL

It's hardly a normal subject for me, but good for a change. I think it's a petite size, compared to many sedans of the time. Same perception with modern F1 and Indy cars, they look like go karts in person. Thank you, that's an understatement. 100% superglue. Made just a little progress the other evening. All the louvers are opened up. Redid the back of the engine block, as I've been looking at photos and drawings, I see some details are missing, such as water pump with belt, oil pan shape is wrong, etc. I also think the transmission should be at least blocked out, not detailed with fins, but something, it's missing because it would not have been seen as normally built. Also want to make the carb intake screen. Added a steel wire for the steering shaft.

Vintage Garrett Steam Roller
89AKurt replied to traditional's topic in Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Very cool, and nice workmanship! I'm familiar with Bandai 1/48 WW2 vehicles, built many as a teen, cost about $1.50 - $2 at Kmart. So know the high quality. Prescott Antique Auto Club has some steam enthusiasts, but not this big. -
Stuff I Haven't Finished...Yet
89AKurt replied to Straightliner59's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Bigatti, started as a bagged kit of the Bugatti Royal, Replicas & Miniatures of MD resin Allison V12, GMC General transmission and axle, picture taken 2011. About the most I have drawn before building. Totally nuts, but I've destroyed the model, so better finish. -
That's KILLER! I have a few Fujimi and Tamiya 911 kits, so very interested to watch this.

but some Qs

Nice to see one built this well. I did the Heller last year, was curious to compare. Good to know these kits are rare, will keep an eye open.

I have a source for getting almost anything at wholesale cost, so I'm getting supplies and tools. Some parts for the Mercedes WIP. I can get models too, but think I have enough (famous last words).

Thanks! Sort of is, won't be a rusty Rat Rod, but will have some modern details. Such as a killer winch from Fireball Modelworks.

Just parts, from Fireball Modelworks. Also got a set of slot mags for one far-off project, this Warn 9,000 lb. winch is for the Mercedes G4.

That's a gorgeous color! You will enjoy it. I had a friend who looked for a nice example in this blue, then he trashed it doing track time. When the transmission failed, he decided to stuff a Corvette V8 in it, took 3 years. So be careful......

Came out very nice. Proper model room, very nice display cabinet. The BMW art cars, I saw a Warhol decal for the M1 somewhere on Facebook, lost track, but seller is in England, and resin parts I didn't want were part of the deal.

Tamiya Exotica - Honda NSX and Ferrari Mythos
89AKurt replied to Spottedlaurel's topic in Model Cars
I built both last century! Mythos looks good in yellow. -
Thanks for dropping by. That may have been the D version, vague recollection. Worked on getting the fairings to fit, filled the gap with styrene, but could have used Milliput putty. Also finding bubbles when I sand down to profile. There is no order of construction in the instructions, sure would be nice to glue all the body parts together, and fill gaps, before painting, but the engine needs to be painted first, so I may have to mask the interior like it's an airplane model. Got both intake scoops opened up, carefully used the smallest Dremel bits on the inside. Started opening the slots at the tail. Found a huge gap is between the engine and differential. Not sure if it's a mistake in casting, but added styrene and lots of superglue with baking soda. Some guerrilla machine work with the sanding stick made the fit good enough. One of several things that Fernando does to help out, which he really doesn't need to in this case, is glue on the valve covers with the pushrod pipes. Some flashing cleanup is required, which is tricky with the thin and delicate tubes, but one side is not glued on straight. I *could* cut apart and redo, but that's asking for trouble. This model is not for the Box Stock crowd. Will review reference photos to finish the engine block. There is no transmission part, it would not be seen if normally built. But since I opened the slots, I probably should do something like a basic block, no ribs.
