  1. One of my favorite subjects, so glad AMT did a good job making that kit. Tastefully done, patina not overdone, love the color!
  2. For some reason missed you comment earlier, thank you very much! I did not know S&S is out-of-business, I have other hex head p-e, but the phillips screw heads are few on that "sheet", so I better use judiciously. Thank you! Nail 'polish' aisle is more exciting than the Hobby Lobby model aisle for me. I have added Turbo style fender protectors, stuck the big Porsche emblems on the front fenders, worked on door and engine bonnet fitment. Here it's Friday already, where does the time go? Work. Being sociable. Sleep. Saturday is my birthday, I don't want more models for presents, just time alone to build.
  3. Wish you the best, and smoothest assembly ever! Stainless steel antenna, that's gonna poke your eye out if not careful.
  4. Moab hillclimb challenge.
  5. All I was doing this morning, was researching a detail for my PORNDY build. Rally 911: https://flatsixes.com/porsche-culture/readers-ride/kelly-moss-racing-safari-rs-2-0/
  6. Long read about Singer project. I could see building the mule, maybe with the blue tape. LOL https://www.roadandtrack.com/car-culture/a23390765/porsche-911-reimagined-by-singer-dynamics-lightweighting-study/
  7. Oh good, thank you for giving the correct info. Not A V8, but a boxer, with the cool 917 style cooling fan.
  8. I've had trouble finding that in stock. That list looks good at a glance, should take the time to read. Did not see Water Effects, which is for diorama water, but works really well for some applications.
  9. Glad you think so! I know right? I read that there was a V8 version of the 904, somewhere. Thank you. I could say it's a Toyota Pious color.
  10. After working on mine, good to see how the better kit looks.
  11. Cool, another 959 that is customized! I have that interest too. Lurking......
  12. Thank you sir! FINAL ASSEMBLY!! I've put together/taken apart at least 100 times, surprised I didn't break it, but I did reinforce with wire screen at critical points. No matter how much I tried, there was still something that did not allow complete gap reduction, during construction things went together, but the accumulation of so many tiny pieces glued together tends to exacerbate fitment issues. For the door jamb, I applied Water Effects as a filler and adhesive (besides the super glue with baking soda underneath). Will paint flat black when cured. The Fuches wheels painting took many pieces of regular masking tape, cut with a new #11 on glass. I had the third wheel partly done on the rim for the picture, forgot to finish, good thing I unmasked right away, was able to remove paint with a cedar stick. Last parts to get airbrushed! I tried for the first time Aizu masking tape on the headlights around the curve, Tamiya on the straight, with regular masking tape overall. Added the Porsche emblems, wire valve stems. It was at this point that I noticed the rim and center design front and rear are a little different, like different brands, or one is a Chinese counterfeit, but I'm sure they came from the same Fujimi Enthusiast kit. Need to hunt down lug nuts. Debating about using the big emblems on the fenders. I still need to finish the passenger door, engine bay. Think I should add an alternator to the engine, I noticed one picture of the engine with one. And of course a once over to clean up everything. But for now, it's looks done!
  13. , Beer-o-clock in Iceland
  14. Every time I read comments (above), I'm glad that I ate mac&cheese often, and jumped on getting some kits. What isn't shown here, is the Model Factory Hiro Lusso kit, talk about unobtanium! I didn't realize the Testarossa was scarce, I picked one up from Fakebook. In fact, have added an original Monogram 275P, and a Testors California, to my collection since taking this picture.
  15. This was done awhile ago, Yahoo claims it's not been seen before. Factory Outlaw, now I *need to* get a modern Porsche kit. https://news.yahoo.com/porsche-boxster-bergspyder-awesome-one-154000306.html?.tsrc=daily_mail&uh_test=1_02
  16. Too funny I made the last comment. Saw this on a SpotModel email, but no listing.
  17. That is really nice! I can believe the 500 hours, it shows. I have to ask about the headlights, they look so real, don't tell me there are aftermarket units.
  18. Thank you for checking in! Sliding door window. I've noticed a variety of windows on the 904, some without the solid divider bar, or all solid, or what looks like a vent window. I kept what exists, and discovered when making the fixed window, there was about 1 mm difference between the doors! I cut up food packaging for the plexiglass windows. I used the photo-etch bender to make the aluminum channels. What I like about using the aluminum, can bend it to make things tighter or looser after gluing on, plastic tends to spring back. The license plate, I wanted to make it moveable, so it lays down at speed to reduce drag and act as a spoiler. I used a microscopic spring that was salvaged from an electronic device. Used aluminum newspaper printing plate, and guitar string. Guess to be road legal, I better add a light. Hobby Design fire extinguisher is a really nice kit onto itself. The decals went on great. The photo-etch is crisp, and super fine. As I was working on it, wondered who would be crazy enough to make these ...... Since the decals also had the symbol for the emergency battery switch, *had to* make the switch, from brass wire, that I smashed flat in the pliers, and made washers from plastic and aluminum using the Waldon punch. Made a tow hook from salvaged electronic part, painted clear red. Need to make the other door window channels next. I'm sure there were more items than my check list showed. I know coolant hoses, and oil cooler hoses are needed in the engine bay. Debating on the lug nuts, order detail parts, or make from aluminum rod. So close..... 1. Door and interior mirrors. 2. Wing support with hydraulic mechanism for air-brake. 3. License plate, which will be mounted to the wing support, with legal light and perhaps the back-up light. Thought of the name PORNDY (only 6 characters on a special plate). 4. Front wings, which will extend/retract and also rotate, from the radiator vent openings. 5. Handbrake, a little more mechanical than the normal fare. 6. Headlights, need to fabricate the reflectors. Same for driving lights. 7. Oh yea, open other door. 8. Windows, remove wiper from windshield, add a wiper from parts box. Also sliding door windows. And rear window, decided no window. 9. 20 lug nuts. 10. Coolant and oil hoses. Need to look at real Indy engine for wiring, might not pursue. 11. Choose pattern of photo-etch grills, and cut. 12. Lots of sanding, then the best part, start painting! It's going to be a nail 'polish' color, not decided color yet. 13. Fire extinguisher, DONE! 14. Emergency battery disconnect switch, DONE!
  19. I have his first book, used maybe 5% of what I learned on my work. One of the participants at GSL-XVIII was inspired by him. Legend, will always be remembered.
  20. Thank you very much! That paint job sure looks awesome, glad you got past that point too, it's gotta be done. Talking about art, just saw the 1948 Ford F-1 Airplane Version, I'm very impressed with that for inspiration. Now it's getting to "made this teeny tiny part, so I can bump my thread up" routine. I used the photo-etch bender tool, it was something I had no clue what to get but *had to* try something to find out if I should get a different one. Bent the front grill screen, I kept some of the solid edge on and used for the top to keep that edge straight. I also modified the parts box windshield wiper, it's flipped over, drilled for a wire pin, photo-etch screw heads at the pivot points, thin plastic blade. I almost screwed up the body when the drill walked over, fixed with a grommet. LOL
