Chaparral 2D
Gramps46 replied to Pierre Rivard's topic in WIP: Other Racing: Road Racing, Land Speed Racers
If you are going to use the old decals I have found the hard way that it is best to spray them with a fixative or copy them onto new plain white decal paper. Looking forward to your progress. -

Jada 1/24 '67 El Camino--Full Review and Pics Added!

Thank you kind sir for the review and photos. Very much appreciated. If I got one I would probably go for a stock look and if I went that far I might as well settle for a Danbury Mint '68. Until I saw the prices they are going for! -

I am very impressed with what you accomplished. You must have a boatload of patience to see it through to completion. Watching paint dry is not one of my strong points. -

Reference the Bartoletti transporters of this style, the ones I am familiar with are the Ferrari, Maserati, and Scarab (Lotus, Shelby, Mann, Piper, JCB, Mirage, Shoen, and Orosco) The Lola carried its spare tire up front like the GT40 MK1. -

You can note that the Bartoletti still has the single rear axle in 1961 when Lotus used it but by 1964 when Shelby and Mann started using it, it had gained a third axle. -

I had not seen the photo above so thank you. The top cars are the Scarabs and the bottom I am not sure. Here is a picture with the same load and the bottom car has the same obscured number and is more clearly not a rear engined Cooper. -

I briefly had what I believe is a DDR Lola but there was no identification. I did find these photos on my phone and the green one is the Scale Kraft and the unpainted one is the DDR if my assumption is true. As you can see the bodies look the same but the chassis and interiors are different. -
Beautifully built and detailed. Now we know why you have all the trophies in your model room.

Those are looking good. I needed an excuse for swinging by HL.

Thank you Rick for pointing that out. That was just plain careless on my part. I got them fixed. For those that don't know Rick is a hands on 1:1 expert on Cobras and GT40s. -

Did a search and found that bluerace24.com and racingkars.com have the DDP listed though it may only be on request? Both sell for 150 pounds. -

Guido had a really interesting catalog of resin kits and was quite the character. Unfortunately, while mountain climbing in Europe he fell and was seriously injured. -

Despite being house cleaning day here in the woods, I was able to get some more done. Finished off the interior by changing out the seats and adding belts and an extinguisher. Also changed out the Webers to printed ones though this is probably the last time you will see them as they will be hidden. That is my excuse for not adding plug wires. Also got the window install started. -

This is my attempt to get building again and finish this Lola GT. It is a long OOP Scale Kraft 1/24 resin kit from South Africa. I am trying to build it as accurately as possible to represent the 1963 Le Mans entry #6. The body has been modified by filling in the roof top NACA duct and opening the side ducts and lower rear ducts to match the configuration at Le Mans. The major hurdle so far has been a color photo of the interior so I am having to make guesses from black and white photos. The body has been painted with Tamiya TS 9 British Green with a Tamiya clear coat. A resin caster in Europe by the name of DDR made a few resin kits which I believe is a repop of this body but the chassis and interior are different.

Carl, I want you to know your presence here on the board and your comments and encouragement have meant a lot to many.

One of my favorite models and you did it proud. The wheel change makes a big difference.

The carbon fiber in the hood vents is a nice touch.

This is a new BBurago 1/24 release of the 2020 Porsche 911 RSR Porsche factory team commemorating the first Porsche over all win at Le Mans in 1970 with the 917. The red and white graphics are pretty amazing and incorporate the number 1970 on top and under the rear wing. Also included on the rear fender in tiny print are the details of the 1970 winning 917. This entry qualified first in GTE Pro but had electrical problems which dropped it down in the finishing order.
