Gramps46 replied to Rich Chernosky's topic in Other Racing: Road Racing, Salt Flat Racers
Another outstanding Ferrari build by Rich. Incorporates his now tradmark pins, clips, poseable wheels, and magnets. -

Sometimes it pays off to have a well stocked parts bin. Even the right offset for a spare. Now I need some scale bungee cord.

Oops, I forgot a spare tire. Back to the bench. ?

Ferrari 0846 has a storied life. Built in 1966 as a P3 and then converted by the factory to a P4 for the 1967 season. With Amon and Bandini aboard it won the 1967 Daytona 24 and went on to Le Mans with Amon and Vaccarella. Unfortunately, a tire blew and 0846 caught fire. The factory states that 0846 was stripped and disposed of and written off their books. However, it is claimed that a 3rd party retrieved the parts and rebuilt it into a working chassis which was then rebuilt into its present state. I was inspired by Helmut's find and build of his Jouef P4 spyder to take mine off the diecast shelf and sent for a set of decals on eBay. I did have to repair one of the rear deck hinges which was broken. As did Hellmut I made a few changes and additions and it has now joined my Le Mans shelves.

Philip - did you apply the decals and paint the window frames? I am just now finishing up the same car.

1964 Econoline
Gramps46 replied to Tcoat's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
I am only aware of 2 diecast Econolines. The 1/25 First Gear and the oversized Jada. Only the side doors open on the First Gear and the Jada is a terrible joke IMHO. -
1966 Porsche 906 in 1/24?
Gramps46 replied to JollySipper's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I am almost certain that we did a comparison of the 1/24 Porsche 906 but I can not find it now but I do still have the photos. I hope this is helpful. -
Welcome to the forum and sharing with us your pictures of some great models. Lots of memories there.

I am a real fan of these Corvettes and really appreciate you posting your photos. I too bought a 1964 glue bomb thinking I would restore it but decided to keep as is. It is a real slice of history.

Well done. I always enjoy seeing the old Hellers built up and yours is really fine.

Pennzoil Porsche 911 GT1
Gramps46 replied to Pierre Rivard's topic in Other Racing: Road Racing, Salt Flat Racers
Super nice build on the Porsche. Really appreciate seeing it in detail. -
You have no idea how close I was to including a description of newspapers. ?
-
Yesterday on the way to the local model club meeting I stopped off at a new diecast store that was featured in the newspaper. The store has thousands of 1/64 diecast which are out of my lane but I did find one I could not resist.

How big is your... stash?
Gramps46 replied to Pierre Rivard's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Trevor, your stash looks like a jewelry store, loaded with gems.
