Nicely done! All three look very good together. -
Hi, I just saw this while researching Tamiya TS-89 Pearl Blue on Google. That's a beautiful color and a very nice paint job. My question is what color did you use as a base, as it looks darker and deeper than the can might suggest?
-
Looking great so far. Fantastic details!
-
Thank you Francis, I was sweating bullets the whole time ?, lol. This has always been my favorite Camaro body style.

Not really sure on that one, I don't think anyone really knows exactly what year the movie car was. I did a google search to see which years had which parking lights, and from what I could tell both parking light locations were available for each of the '70-73 years of the Camaro. I'll probably file and fill the upper parking lights, as I don't think the fog lights will cover them without looking dumb, lol.
-
Thanks! I really wanted to be as accurate as possible, so not doing the correct parking lights seemed like it would be too obvious. The parking lights next to the headlights should be covered up by the fog/driving lights that every participant car in the movie seemed to have.

Very nice work! Well done and very cleanly done!

What a beauty! Fantastic job! Love the colors!

Looks good! Great looking interior!

In for a penny, in for a pound. I decided to cut out the turn signal lights on the front valance. I was freaking out every step of the way, but I think they look o.k. Trimmed the scoop a little more and got it placed on the hood. Now I just need to sand the extra putty off and spray some primer on it and see how it looks.
-
I have heard that also, and that is definitely an option. I have gotten quite fond of Stynylrez primers sprayed through my airbrush over the last few months so I'll see how that does initially and then go from there.
-
I'll probably post a few progress pics if I'm happy with how things are going. At the moment, the plan is for some shade of blue for the body and probably a black interior, but plans may change if I can't prevent the orange from bleeding through. I will probably end up buying a can of duplicolor primer/sealer for both of these kits as I understand that will prevent any bleed through.

Thanks! I like the short track car idea, lol.

Nice! Love the color combo. Looks really good "with the top down". -
Nice! The pearl white looks great!

Thanks, I have to gauge how it sits on the movie car before I glue it on. The orange one is going to be a Pro-Touring car complete with the LS motor/trans from the Revell SSR kit, and a cowl induction hood from Lex's Scale Modeling. I have color/paint plans for it. but I'm not going to reveal them yet as it might take a while to get it done, lol. I was thinking of doing a thread for that one too, but I'll be lucky to remember to update the one thread alone?.

O.K. Thanks, I'll probably just buy the other Revell Cobra kit and build the movie car out of that. I love the Cobras anyways, so building two different versions won't really be a hardship. lol.

I debated for a week whether to post this one or not. It definitely did not turn out as good as I had hoped. The color is a bit paler than the actual car, but I can live with that. The decals did not set or stick very well even with liberal use of micro set and micro sol. What I am most disappointed with myself about is the ride height. I didn't check it at all and realized at final assembly that it was way off. I think it partially has something to do with maybe the roll cage not being installed correctly. Oh well, maybe I'll tear it apart in a few years and fix the height.

I agree, that's a great color. And the beige interior will compliment it very well!
-
Looking good so far, can't wait to see it done! Where did you get the wheels, I need a set to replicate the Gumball Rally Cobra? I have the Revell kit that has the red Cobra Boxart and it only has the wire wheels.
-
Got the scoop cut out of the Revell '67 Nickey Camaro hood. A little more filing and sanding and I'll be ready to attach it to the hood.
-
This has always been my favorite Camaro body style, and despite the mold issue on the body and excessive flash on pretty much every part, the kit is very well detailed and should build up pretty well. I might look into picking up some sealer to spray on before priming.
-
Looks really good! Those were pretty cool cars back then and you nailed the look! I've had real good success with the Rustoleum 2x sprays, Gloss White and Gloss Apple Red. I regularly use the Satin Canyon Black for interiors and chassis too, and used their white, black and gray primers without issue. It's the 2x clears that are the problem for me. They are very chemically hot and seem to like to attack the paint and decals, even after a couple of weeks to cure the paint, and this is over Rustoleum 2x paint.

Looks great! Awesome paint job and fantastic looking wheels! -
Getting started on my next project, the Yellow Camaro from Gumball Rally. I haven't really done a continuous in-progress topic yet, so hopefully I can remember to take pics and update my progress in a reasonable fashion. I also hope I can put up some decent work and not embarrass myself with shoddy work and results?. I thought about waiting a while on this build until the new full bumper Camaro kit from AMT came out for better turn signal accuracy, but I'm hearing it's going to be delayed until at least September and I really don't want to wait til then at minimum, so it'll be a test of my skills for sure. First thing I have to do is fix the shoddy mold on the passenger front fender. Thanks for looking!
