  1. Very nice! And yes it certainly is a crappy kit. I won't start mine until I get myself totally psyched up for it, lol.
  2. Over the last couple of days, I detailed the dash and wheels. I brush painted Green Stuff World Chrome on the dash to try to replicate the aluminum look. You can see a lot of brush strokes, but that's about as good as I can get it without re-painting the whole dash. I noticed that the decals were printed off-center so I tried to hand paint the gauges. The small gauges look ok, but the speedo and tach just didn't come out too well. I went ahead and punched out the decals for those and used them anyways. I think they look better than my hand painting attempt. For the wheels, I used Tamiya X-10 Gunmetal for the spokes, and Delta Black in between. I also drilled holes, and inserted and cut small pieces of wire that I painted black for valve stems. The center caps were dabbed with Tamiya Clear Blue and a toothpick was used to on the surface of the stallion to bring it out.
  3. A mixture of Decoart Jack O'lantern and Apple Barrel Red was used for the chassis.
  4. I used a slightly different mixture for the interior base color. Then I taped off the seats and door panels for the darker blue. I can't remember what colors I used for the darker blue though, lol.
  5. I had this one going on while I was building the '55 Cameo and '97 Corvette, Now that those are done, it's back on to it. I've done almost all of the painting already, so Ill start with the body. The color is a custom mixture of craft paints in an attempt to replicate the Brittany Blue factory color. I probably could/should have used a little more blue, but I really like the color anyways. I used Anita's Metallic White, and Decoart Dazzling Metallics Icy Blue, Zinc, and Shimmering Silver. The body was cleared with Decoart Duraclear Gloss Varnish. After a few days I wet-sanded from 4000 to 12000, polished with Novus #2, and waxed. The pics don't show it well, but it does have a bluer look to it in person.
  6. I like that green! I just finished a build using Createx Pearl Turquoise, and really like how it sprayed and set. I will only use their products and mixing recommendations with their paints, as everything I have sprayed that way has gone really well.
  7. That's looking mighty fine so far!
  8. Outstanding! The masking effort was well worth it!
  9. Nice job on the stripes, that's definitely the way to go as the decals are a bear to get right.
  10. Very nice!
  11. Very nice!!
  12. Well done, very nice!
  13. I'm thinking Tamiya TS-20 Metallic Green would be very close.
  14. Nice looking Charger!
  15. Well done! Great looking interior!
  16. Looks good Mike! Yes that is an iffy kit. I did the same thing with the headlights, and my door window trim was almost non-existent. I sanded down what was there and used strip styrene to make my own.
  17. Thanks everyone!
  18. Thanks Carl! These were fairly easy. I just masked off around the edges, there's a ridge that can be used as a guide for cutting the tape. It also had a frosted texture that I painted with flat black craft paint. When turned right-side up, it becomes glossy under the clear top of the glass. Hopefully that makes sense.
  19. I finished up the AMT 1955 Chevy Cameo today. What a fun build and it's instantly one of my favorites. I did a lot of customizing on this one, at least for me, including few things that I had never done before, and learned how to do them better next time. I opened the grill, cut out the engine cradle and made my own motor mounts, moved the transmission cross-member, lowered both front and rear suspensions, made the wheel tubs from a pill bottle, and made my own exhaust tips from 1/8" styrene tubing. The color is Createx Pearl Turquoise, cleared with Createx UVLS Gloss Clear. The interior is Stynylrez Gray Primer, and a custom mixture of gray craft paints. The bed was also done with craft paints and the strips with Molotow Chrome. The engine/transmission/exhaust, wheels/tires/brakes, side mirrors, and seats are from the Revell Chevy SSR kit. Everybody knows the glass doesn't really fit right on this kit, but I did manage to get it ok for the most part with just a few small gaps. I am really happy with how it turned out, and even bought another one for a future project. Thanks for looking!
