  1. Thank you for the kind words. There are 3 other vintage Corvette kits I’d love to do again from my youth & teen years - Monogram Corvette SS (the yellow one), MPC Vette Van and the AMT Eckler’s Corvette Hatchback.
  2. I loved that show when I was a kid. Back then, I actually built it using the Bronco kit, painted the R-240 on the roof, added light bars, push bars, etc... The only thing I didn’t add was the gas cans to the back.
  3. Testors no more? Not so fast. They’re discontinuing a large portion of their MILITARY color line, not auto colors.
  4. An oldie kit my sister did when we were kids. I acquired the same kit from a batch of model car kits I bought from a fellow member in another forum I frequent at. The box cover: The finished build. I painted it using Createx Pearlized Orange.
  5. Rivet counters....... Just kidding. ? To the ordinary modeler, I think it's a moot point to worry about accuracies. These kits are old and technology was different back then. But... if it can be corrected to make it accurate, I'll leave it to the experts to achieve it.
  6. Now hey there... she’s a looker! Well done!
  7. No pics since I was on the road as a courier. I saw this Dodge sedan with a Mad Max style full bumper push bar attached to it. The most ridiculous thing I've ever seen....
  8. The Ultimate Model Paint Conversion Chart (paint4models.com) You will need to download the pdf file. I use this conversion chart often especially for military colors.
  9. 1967 Mustang Shelby GT500. That's surprising since AMT did the GT350 but not the GT500.
  10. eBay is a hassle when it comes to fees. Try something like Let Go or craigslist. Or even your local IPMS chapter. Connect with a local LHS. Maybe the owner can help take a load off your hands.
  11. Tom Daniels design kits were my favorites growing up in the 70s. Well done!!
  12. Herbie was a 1963 VW Beetle. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Herbie
  13. Yup. Even my local Michael's model kit is dismal. Not worth a trip there anymore. Heck, even their model paint selection is pathetic at best.
  14. Not being negative at all. Nor am sounding like a naysayer. Just being cautious on this news whether or not they will make good on their word. I've seen things go the opposite direction a few times. Squadron is one good example.
  15. Oh yeah... definitely a '66 Dart. I very first car for college back in '83 was a '64 Dodge Dart slant 6 push button automatic. What fun that car was.
  16. '72 Chevelle SS... '63 - '65 Dodge Dart GT hardtop, convertible, and wagon
  17. Ridiculous policy. I've never heard of any store locking up spray paint in cabinets. What about those "crafty glitter" spray paints. Are those locked on cabinets too? If not, thats racist.? Walmart self check out registers will send a red light tofront line staff that customer is buying stay paint for verification if customer is over the age of 18 to purchase it.
  18. Thats not my intention and I apologize if you assumed that. After Squadron went belly up, just concerned what these corporate raiders.... er... investment firms' real intention is whether they're doing something good for this great hobby or not. Why wait til next week for their "official" announcement. Why not now?
  19. Periodically as in how often? Doubt it will be every other week like they've been doing all along. You watch.... eliminating the 40% coupon will be their downfall. Who knows. But hey, what do I know... it's their business. I'm still curious if they're going to stock Tamiya and/or the new Revell line of paints once Model Master colors are gone for good.
  20. Good or bad depending on the product. Look What happened to several retail stores... Hess's became Kauffmann's, Kauffmann's bought out by Macy's, and now Macy's are closing it doors for good. Each of these stores has been in existence for a few years before being bought out by other corporations. In my eyes, investment firms = corporate raiders. Nothing good ever comes out of it. It doesn't matter if one person knows the hobby or not. Majority of the board of directors have the final say in decisions what direction it wants to take it. In all honesty, a company like Revell would been a better fit to buy them out, not investment firms with no knowledge of the hobby. Nobody really knows what their plans are for Round 2 as a business at the moment. Will they continue to manufacture / distributor for model kits or will they do away with it and concentrate on the collectible genre craze? The better question is why Round 2 is being bought out by another firm? Is Round 2 really in that deep financial trouble than they let on? Nobody knows. I'd rather take the wait and see route than feel all confident it will be better in the long run.
  21. In another forum I belong to have zero confidence in this news & I agree with them. You migjt as well say goodbye to them in a few years. Just stock up on kits while you can before they tank. Nothing good every comes out of it when investors have zero knowledge in the model industry.
  22. Gorgeous build and color combination. I didn’t know there was a ‘55 Bel Air Convertible kit out there.
  23. My thoughts exactly. Another investor with zero knowledge of the hobby to destroy a model kit business to the ground. You how the old saying goes... Money talks, BS walks.
  24. Wow... that's news to me. I don't get it. They close at 8 pm everyday, they close on Sundays, now they want to eliminate the 40% coupon. Here's the thing.. it's not 40% on every single item you cash out (usually the most expensive item gets the 40% off), nor it's 40% off the total bill. Can't say I don't blame the consumers but now watch Micheal's gain a huge customer base. Article claim they're going to change their prices on all their products. We'll see. You can't fix stupid business financial management. I think that's going to be their downfall. Model kits and tools won't be moving on their shelves anytime soon come March 1st. I plan on stopping at HL often as I can as well. Gotta stock up on tools, paints, kits...
