I still wash 3D printed parts before prime, etc. I have had issues with primer not covering some recesses in things like wheels. A warm water soak with some dishwashing soap is all I do, a little scrub with an old tooth brush too.

Funny.. I dropped an xacto knife last week. I was wearing flip flops. I didn't even look, picked up the knife and went back to work. Then I noticed that my foot was sliding in the flip flop, and I'm on a blood thinner. The flip flop was full of blood, I had nicked my middle toe. I left a trail of blood across my kitchen floor on the way to the sink. Washed it all off... wrap the foot in a paper towel... back to work.

Send me a message, I can take a shot of the back if you want. What do you have to trade? Nothing big, or I'll just send them to you.

Plowboy 1941 Ford coupe

That is amazing. I just picked up a '37 Ford pickup and my plans are to graft a '36 nose onto it. We have the technology... -
WARNING! Not all 1/25 scale is equal.
bobss396 replied to WillyBilly's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
I like using 1/24 scale engines in 1/25 cars, if there is plenty of room. It fills the engine bay more betterer IMO. -

Moebius Wrecker Truck Announcement
bobss396 replied to Erik Solie's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
I liked working with the low side body trucks. It was easier to reach in when at a wreck site with cops breathing down my neck. Part of being on the wreck-roster was that we had to pick up the broken parts and sweep up the glass, etc. -
I have a set I have to dig out and I'll post pictures. I forget if they are resin or are from a kit. I have had them for years. Edit: I have a set of these that are resin, will need the usual clean up thing.

CarTech books. Quality issues.

I have a bunch of Motors Manuals, the oldest is from 1939. I have never bought a new one, either someone gives them to me or I find them at garage sales. When I did work on my 1964 Olds 88, it sure was a handy reference. -
I may give the acrylic lacquer a try. I used a Krylon acrylic clear... the can was fairly new but I had problems with it. I've been using a body shop 1K clear, Model Master Extreme Lacquer clear (great with their paints), a Mr. Hobby product from Hobby Lobby and of course Tamiya TS-13.

It looks like it should work. You certainly have enough to last a while. I used the silks recently. To attach the rear panel on an old MPC stock car.

The printed engine was a bad fit and I didn't want to start cutting up the chassis. I'll post more, but I have gone back to the kit engine... I made the crappy kit headers work. The next one... if I ever do one again... will be using .062" solder for headers. I have 2 of these cars in work, since they are very similar. The other is a Southern Stocker Buick.

I went to the 1994 Arca race at Daytona, it was a good race. I catch some on TV now and then, like Milwaukee. At the end there may have been something like 8 cars on the lead lap. The talent of the drivers varies quite a bit. FS1 had it on the other day, I was doing something and missed it. I'll look for it again.

Vintage 1953 AMT 3 Car Assembly Kit (first year produced).
bobss396 replied to Grisuno's topic in Model Cars
That's a new one for me. It has to be worth a mint. -

I was in NYC for a job writing car manuals in 1980, incidentally the same day that John Lennon was killed. I even stopped by the Dakota on the way to 57th street. I did well at the interview, but turned down the offer. I later found out that it was for the Haynes line of books. I bought one for a Caprice I had, one of the worst car books I have ever seen. It had random junk in it, like an exploded view of a 1964 Impala tailgate with no text to back it up anywhere. -

Shining up some Oxidized Chrome
bobss396 replied to Falcon Ranchero's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I have some 1982-ish stock cars with dull chrome, it some cases it actually looks good. It does come off easily just rubbing with a paper towel. Drop the parts in bleach, the "chrome" vanishes in seconds. -
I bought one small box of the stuff and it lasted 20 years, I bought another box recently.. it may outlast ME. I find lots of cool stuff in beauty-supply shops.

When I do something similar, on yhe hidden side, I use fingernail wrap material on the seams. It has an adhesive backing, stick it on and use a thin CA glue over it. Strong like bull 💪.

O yeah... we mixed 8 week old Ivan in with our older cat, Chloe. She despised him until the day she died. I had to feed him separate, she would eat her meal, then eat his.

Me and mist coats do not get along too well. This just may be my general problem with clears. Lately Duplicolor has been a weird line of paint for me. I have better results with hobby clears and one 1:1 car clear that I like. When in doubt, make up test samples.

Thanks, I'm hoping so. These are kits with many flaws and shortcomings. I see too many built box stock-ish on the contest tables. I grew up watching the real coupes, Pintos and Vegas race.
