I've learned to check the "junkyard lots" that show up on ebay. Sometimes some surprising things show up in those and you can score the odd gem here and there.

@Snake45. Thanks Snake. I don't have the '63 intake. But this was just on of the idea's I'm kicking around. I also have the dual quad intake from the Revell pro-street Malibu, an LM4 from the SSR, the LT5 from the AMT ZR1 kit, and a few other options. I'm leaning toward the LM4 or just using the Revell kit engine as is.

Good advice. I have another intake that might work. Normally I'd agree and use the whatever looks good, but this is for a '68 Vette I'm doing for this years Cannonball CBP and I want it to look the part.

This took me a while to track down. Turns out there's two AMT 1970 Corvette kits. The one with this intake is the older 3n1 annual. Thanks very much Jack. At least I know it was meant for a BBC. Whether it's correct for a BBC in its design is another matter. I'm probably going to use it in any case. @Ace-Garageguy, can you weigh in here?

I picked these up at a swap meet in a bag marked BBC. Now upon examination, the port spacing seems wrong for a big block. The size seems right, as well as distributor/thermostat housing locations, but I can't find a 1:1 example of this. Anyone? IDing the kit would help.

Thanks Snake. It didn't occur to me that the year on the box was the year it was raced. I've done some research on it prior. It's a pretty slick little car.

Okay. The Matador is just going to be too much work to get to the quality I'm looking for, so I'm going to change my entry. I'll be doing this Revell 68 Corvette. The kit IS a purpose built race car. Painted in a stock color, only a real Corvette fan would know it from stock. I'm back in this.

Honestly I have seen far more disgusting things done to Mustangs before. I see what he's driving at here and over all I like it. I do agree that a muscle car should have a more negative offset wheel.

Thanks Beamer. Interior is complete. I used the flat/gloss contrast on the interior. The interior goes together very nicely and fits well when assembled. A first for me - actual lenses for the dash gauges, very slick. The front seats are the custom seats from the AMT 69 Riv, trimmed down to something attractive.

Well done. I think trying to rebuild it would have turned into a bag of snakes in a real hurry.

Thanks Jim. The green is Testors One Coat Lacquer Mystic Emerald. For the sake of interest and the all-important, contrast, I painted the dash and shifter knob green as well. Interior photos soon. As far as the new parent company, I couldn't agree more. When I pass the building, I get a swell of anger that I have to quell because I know what happened isn't the fault of anyone in that building. But rather a faceless executive in Michigan, upon whom I wish a scorching case of herpes. To layoff people in this current environment shows an uncommon level of heartlessness. On a positive note, I do have a couple of possible opportunities coming this week. I've applied nearly everywhere and now it's the waiting game. There are a couple of companies that are usually hiring but I'm leaving them for a last resort because they are infamous for turnover, layoffs and working people too hard.

Cool project. I also have one waiting for some inspiration. Tom, I don't know about the '64 but many, many years ago, I used an MPC '67 Charger chassis underneath and the fit was darn near spot on. Wheelbase was perfect.

Mark I'm doing the dash like that. But I've no idea what to do on the steering wheel. I have a standard sport wheel set aside, but if something better pops up I'll go with it. Thanks for you interest.
