Misery Machine
Jantrix replied to spencer1984's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Yes what he said. A lot of thought went into this and it shows. I spotted the Necronomicon in there and I laughed out loud. The hood sides and plastic fork used as skid plates underneath are very well done. It's no wonder that Velma survived, she was always the intellectual badass of the group. ? -
Finally back at the desk!

Welcome back to the fold! Looking forward to seeing some work. -
VERY nicely done. I dig it.

Why worry about it? No need to yell, "I'm leaving!" and slam the door, just don't come back. If you are going to get in a twist every time someone disagrees with your position and then call them "negative" or "experts", you are the problem. Hasta la vista.

tulsa oklahoma model car clubs

A local IPMS club. Looks like they do a yearly contest. https://calendar.ipmsusa3.org/chapter/ipmstulsa-modelers -
A rant from clear ignorance of the industry just makes you look bad. Not Round2. We have several members who have worked in the industry. Talking to them about the logistics of mold making would have been a good start for you. Cost is always THE issue. In ANY industry. It drives EVERY single detail. I cannot imagine that you don't comprehend that.

Lets just call it very cool, and forget about a further definition. Nice work.

Check out a band called Tragedy on YouTube. They do metal versions of old Beegees tunes. The music is fun and they don't take themselves very seriously. It's a hoot.

Why do you build models?
Jantrix replied to Oldmopars's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Modeling is both engineering and art. Which strokes both sides of my brain just right. -
That's a great looking rat. And it looks like you had fun with it. Well done.

Mo'luminum 671/T question
Jantrix replied to Jantrix's topic in Truck Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
That helps loads. The 4BT was already on my radar. I think that will be my choice and I like the look of it. Thanks. -
First off the "contact us" link on their website doesn't work, so if anyone has contact info, I'd appreciate it. I'm wondering about their 671/T turbo diesel resin engine. How long is it? Will it fit into an engine bay that originally had an inline six like the '50 Chevy 3100? Does it come with a belt for the pulleys? Any info would be helpful, thanks.

Thanks! Will do. -
Like Jim, not what I was expecting. But I like it. A very cool machine.

Looking good Scott.

Modeling for fun.....again!
Jantrix replied to GaryR's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Yes. Due to life, my building time is limited, so at some point I had to decide to limit the amount of work I was putting into each model if I wanted to finish a model in a reasonable amount of time. So now I'm trying to stay artistic, with much less scratch building (I don't finish a lot of models with lots of scratchbuilding anyway) and keeping mods simple and straighforward. -
I don't see anything, but I have before so I'll take your word for it. Working on it.
-
Lets see. My oldest surviving model circa 1987? MPC '67 Charger street freak (soooo much bad here, a real four footer) And my latest. Revell '41 Willys with a turbo'd and EFI'd slant six.

Check out the lights on the fenders. Where might I find something like this? An older semi tractor kit with top of cab marker lights? Thanks in advance.

Parts recommendations please!
Jantrix replied to Jantrix's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
So far this is the plan. I think these will be perfect. I have a set of four of these and two more tires coming in the mail from a club friend. I'll figure out the rims from the parts box. As for the engine. The blown hemi from the Revell 41 Willys hot rod is the leading contender, with the Revell BBC from the pro-street '67 Chevelle a close second, the ability to keep it under the hood will be the deciding factor. I had two other ideas but I cannot seem to find the engines that I know I had. I'm also kicking around a resin 4 cylinder turbo diesel, but that might be a little too "Welderup", for me. After studying the photo I think I'm going to move the rear axle back about 3/8 of an inch, to give it a longer look with a rake. The real truck is probbaly a 3/4 or 1 ton with a longer wheelbase and bed, but stretching the bed is more work than I want. I'll be starting this, this weekend, so stand by for a WIP thread. Thanks very much for the advice guys. It helps. -
Super Clean Okay for a Diecast?

I haven't used it in years, but this was my go to stripper when I was heavily into bicycles. -
My wife and I have a small farm now for two years. The upkeep on this homestead is taking what used to be my hobby time. In two years, I've finished ONE model. This frustration turned into a kind of depression. I'd avoid the hobby room even when I would have time, because I didn't want to get involved in a build and then have it sit for 6 months. Lately though I've had to sit back and think about my building style. The realization I've made is that I've gotta curb the cutting without the cutting the creativity. That is - less fabrication or major modifications. Do more with the kit parts, so that I can finish a build with 40 hours invested instead or 80. So I'm looking at each kit a little differently, and like you mentioned, building a little more child like.

I like it. Very sharp.

After closer examination, the tires in the photo look more like a standard tall off road tire. I'm going to check my 4x4 projects and see what fits the look. Coming up with two sets though, ugh.
