  1. This I have done before. I did the surfboards on this Lincoln. But it's not hydrographics. Hydrographics is some sort of film that is placed flat on a water surface, and an activator is sprayed on and then an object is pushed through it. It's become very popular for customizing most anything.
  2. I saw a fella on FB that did a low rider type hydrographics dip. Scantily dressed ladies. Looked terrific. It occurred to me that it could work on a current project. The builder steered me to eBay. I found lots of snake skin patterns that might work but the patterns are very large and would look great if you were dipping a guitar body or something, but would look terribly out of scale on a model car. Anyone tried this yet? Did you find vendor with stuff for scale models? So far I've come up dry on my searches.
  3. Gary Campesi has always impressed me with his imagination.
  4. Yes that's what I'd found out. They were sort of a budget bicycle company and I've heard the quality of the bikes was poor, but I liked mine and rode the wheels off it for many years.
  5. Drowned. How crass. Cranky left a few years ago due to some personal issues that he had to sort through, that kept him from working in the hobby. During that time there were a couple of these threads wondering about his absence, and there were some unkind comments calling him an attention hound or a show off. Perhaps he saw them and decided not to come back here at all. It's a real shame because he is a real passionate guy and a tremendous artist. Lots of us learned a lot from him. Others just had to tear him down.
  6. Very cool build up. Nice work. This was THE bike to have back in the 70's. There was one on our block and lots of jealous kids. Me, I had an Iverson Roadrunner. A local Queens based company I've heard.
  7. Question. If you are going to take them time to do custom work, and add detail, why wouldn't you take the time to make the work clean? A couple of sanding sticks from the nail care area of the drug store and five minutes would have made that frame alteration look real slick.
  8. I'm gonna save my response for when I finish my current build. Besides I can't post a photo without a 404 error.
  9. Man this is cool. Great stuff.
  10. That is pretty brilliant. I will be stealing that idea.
  11. So, am I seeing this right? An adapter plate over the stock intake? If I'm not mistaken, the centifugal superchangers represented here and in the Avanti kit I think, are McColloughs where the Fords used the Paxtons
  12. I've often wondered exactly how was this supposed to mate with the intake? From the kit it's just popped down on the manifold where the carbs go, but theres no clear mating surface.
  13. Just finished a trade with Philo426 - Phillip Rowe. Very prompt delivery even before we had my end of the deal sorted out. Would definitely trade with him again. @philo426
  14. Personally, I'm more interested in it now because I can make any sort of hauler I want, and not have to worry about a race truck, I'm not interesed in. Very cool.
  15. That does look terrific.
  16. Looking forward to this. Looking good.
  17. Very slick. I like it.
  18. I'm jazzed to see the GNX parts as I've always liked them over the GN wheels, which I've always found to be rather plain. This one might be a purchase for me, but I'd be very likely to do a drivetrain swap into the AMT 66 Wildcat.
  19. I've had a similar experience with a coworker who asked me what his late, father's 200+ unit, collection was worth. He was able to sell some of the rarest on ebay for some money but he's still stuck with 180 odd, toy cars. Back to the original post. As far as posting diecasts, I do appreciate the folks that post the scale,1:18 in the thread title of their post. That way I can skip it. That's not to say I have a problem with it. I've no qualms with people posting up their diecasts. I'm just not interested in something store bought. I build models, and I come here to see the models that everyone else has built. I use the Unread Content fuction so I get everything. Being able to filter past the stuff that's not my bag, is helpful.

The paint is so deep it looks like it's a molded color that's been polished. Top notch work. How about an engine shot?
  21. The AMT '37 Chevy kits come with a very nice Offenhauser? finned valve cover, dual carb intake and split headers. They definitely look like vintage aftermarket equipment if you are into straight sixes.
  22. VERY impressive. Well done.
  23. Agreed. 454 came around in 1970. Pretty well done though, I'll admit.
  24. I really like this Curt. I especially like that it looks like it's got a few power tours under it's belt. A very cool idea, well executed.
  25. Doubtful. That's custom paint.
