  1. Tom thanks very much for that recommendation. Those diesels look great.
  2. Very cool. I like it.
  3. Man this looks terrific. There isn't a car guy alive that wouldnt want a Jeep that cool.
  4. I had four engine ideas based on my memory of my spares, and I'm missing two of them. ? Now I have to go through all my kits and figure out where I've squirreled them away. Still need some ideas on the truck tires. This looks like a a 3/4 or 1 ton version of the truck, but I'm not sure I want to bother stretching the bed. I may just move the axle back about a half inch to give it a rake.
  5. This was a favorite when I was a kit. I built three or four of them and still have two. ?
  6. Good stuff guys. Tom, some of those engines were already on my radar. Looking forward to diving into this one.
  7. I have a club build off coming up and this is my plan. I need recommendations on a kit to supply wheels (don't need to look like the ones in the pic) and tires. I have the wheels and tires from the Revell Ford dually but the tires need better alternative. Visor perhaps? I'm going to start with the AMT '50 Chevy 3100. Also some ideas for an unusual engine choice would be appreciated. Just throw out some ideas please. Trucks usually aren't my thing but I love the look of this one. Much appreciated.
  8. I'd REALLY like to learn more about the materials that you used on the wall.
  9. Very nice work. I may have to give that a try myself.
  10. Using the data above. I purchased the 12 and 14 AWG ferules. I was able to accomplish this. These are the 14 AWG pieces. I'm pretty happy with them. I realize this intake I've created, likely has no basis in reality and/or isn't mechnically possible. This model is a slump buster and my usual requirement of mechanically "plausible" has been put on the shelf next to my empty bucket of free time. Besides this is the fourth attempt at something decent looking. Again, thanks very much for the assist gentlemen. I hope this has helped/will help someone else. BTW - the two bags of 100 pieces was less than the six bucks it took to ship. $12.25 total.
  11. How the concours crowd must have hated this guy.
  12. Very cool idea. keep er goin '
  13. Its pretty weird. Even for a 60s custom.
  14. I will be following this. I've been planning a rollback for a while, but it will end up being larger than any display case I own. Looking forward to seeing where you take this.
  15. I quite agree. It leaves a mess behind.
  16. I scratch built one. No hard at all.
  17. Pull tape slowly at 90 degrees of the tape line.
  18. "We've just rebuilt this engine! It has 0.4 miles on it so far. Lets throw it on a dyno and see what she''ll do!"
  19. Yes it does. I measured the diameters of some plastic ones I had both at the base and at the flare to determine the size I needed. I did purchase some. I believe I got 12 and 14 gauge. After the intake is mocked up for the V10, I'll post up some photos in this thread. Most any website you look at for these SHOULD post up a data sheet for the part. By comparing your measurements to the data sheet specs on the parts, should help you determine what part you need. I recommend a digital micrometer. Thanks again for the advice, gentlemen.
  20. Just a heads up. My building has ground to an absolute halt. Work on the farm sucks up most of my weekend and evening time. I'm planning on completely dismantling the hobby room and getting things set up and organized, to include an indoor spray booth and parts storage. At this time I have no plans for Cannonball 2020. I am hoping one of our usual suspects like Mike or Bruce will take the reins for next year. The last time I let a relative newcomer run it, he was a no-show for the full year and I ended up taking over. I need someone who has the time and interest, to run the whole enchilada to include choosing the theme. Please shoot me a PM, if you're interested. I will finish this run as admin, start the completed builds thread. Hopefully Mike will agree to do the poll again. Thanks guys.
  21. Well Jim I definitely think you get the "MOST UNUSUAL CANNONBALLER" award pretty much sewn up. And with guys like Mike, Bruce and Ralph in the field, that's saying something. I like what you accomplished. This is the ONLY build of this kit I have ever seen. Period. Based on that, I can imagine the quality of the kit. I think you did an admirable job. Ataboy.
  22. I'm also a fan of this car. I've got the kit and I'm planning on building it, just not sure how just yet. The dated engine, is an issue.
  23. This is an issue. We turn off a fair amount of modelers here, just by not commenting because we don't want to ataboy a deeply flawed model. Posting a model, getting 300 views and 2 comments is a real soul crusher. I have had club members tell me that this forum is full of snobs after having a bad experience with this. I've seen this many times both online and at contest. There is nothing for it sadly. I've been reported to admin for my comments.
  24. Thank you both. Incredibly helpful.
  25. I was going to add both points.
