Rob. I'm sure we'd all like to see your method in a brief tutorial perhaps?
Jeff. Duplicolor lacquers are very tough stuff. 90% isopropyl alcohol does work. I recommend though, you use the old Super Clean degreaser BUT first sand through to the primer in a half a dozen spots on the body. Let the chemical attack the primer. After a week or so, the lacquer should slough off like a snake skin.
Correct. This build off runs until December 1st. Good luck finding a second kit.
Guys, I just don't think I'm gonna be participating this year. One, I'm seriously busy at work and at home. And two, and my interest in the theme this year is very low. I'll continue to moderate and cheer you guys on, but likely no plastic from me. We'll see what next year brings.
Much to my surprise, my favorite detail is the arced windscreen. Much more noticable in Chris' photos. It looks like it is channeled the width of the frame. I think with the standard 32 roadster, the 32 sedan for the engine and the '29 Model A (all from Revell) for the exhaust system & wheels/tires. You could get pretty close.
Most folks spraying Molotow are working from the refill bottles. I have seen some very good results but not from anyone who isn't fairly proficient with an airbrush.
Really great looking work. A note on electrical tape - If it was stretched at all, it will try to return to it's original shape. That's why it's so good when wrapped around something. It tightens. But on a flat surface, not so much. The adhesive isn't good enough to hold it on a flat surface.
Mark it was a real treat to see this model in person. A well deserved award. I'm fairly certain everyone who saw it realized quickly they were now competing for second place. And it was nice to meet you as well.
