removeing acylic paint
Oldcarfan27 replied to Madd Trucker's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
See if this helps answer the question of enamel vs. lacquer paint. https://www.doityourself.com/stry/enamel-paint-vs-lacquer-paint -
Don't forget, the GT500 is the big block car (428). The kit is a GT350, small block engine (289). Like AFX said, you'll have to use the engine from a donor kit. There are quite a few good choices. You may even find a few parts to scavenge from AMTs 68 GT500. Like the homemade gauge cluster and the wheels. Looks like a great subject to build. It's a good looking car!

Semper Fi, Tim. And welcome aboard! Like you I see a lot of amazing talent here and I always get inspired to stretch my skills a little more after I see what others can do! Keep building and have fun!

Needs to have a license plate that says "JAWS"

May not be factory, but it sure is eye catching. Nice paint job!

Hard to believe that is a Palmer, looks too correct. Must've come from Pyro first! Looks like it's going to be a fun build.

Wow Alan, I never knew how much trouble it is over there. That process sounds rife with corruption. Not sure how they could find a car with so much wrong with it in 60k miles, but apparently it is enough to get it scrapped. Seems to me the recycling process would create more emissions than the car did!

Vintage dwarf cars

I get what you're saying, to which, I agree. But in this case, Pete was simply being facetious - a little joke pointing out the very same subject you brought up. You guy's were both speaking from the same side of the podium! Just different presentations. I personally, enjoy a little humor in my sarcasm. Now back to our regular program. -
No, he got it right. That car is ODD!!!

Still is, you just got to know where they go. Lots of vendors specialize in procuring used, low mileage Japanese engines, transmissions and various sundry parts. Not just high perf parts, I've gotten good buys on regular, bread and butter parts with only 60k miles on them. Worked like brand new! There are a lot of used cars in Japan, it's just that they're American cars. Just like us, they like old American muscle cars and lowriders too!

Looks pretty good for a kid! I still have trouble getting paint to look that good.

How long ago was it out? -
Has anybody built this kit? I'm sure it's expensive, but I'm only seeing it on German forums. I doubt it will ever be available on these shores. I can see a musicians tour bus with it, or a fully lit with LEDs.

AMT kits with Goodyear Rally GT tires?
Oldcarfan27 replied to Fat Brian's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Try sanding down the tread to make it less prominent. Other than that, those tires look pretty good.
