Kits Which Were Once This, Then Became That
Oldcarfan27 replied to Casey's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I'm not familiar with this kit in orange, but I did just find out the "Bed Bug" issue is the same tool as the "Rubber Duck", just molded in copper. Can you show us the box for the orange kit? Is it this one? This is a Deals Wheels" issue. Totally different tooling. -

It's, ummm....
Oldcarfan27 replied to Richard Bartrop's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I'll 2nd that. I've seen some pretty wretched "backbirths" done in the name of styling improvements! -

I like the nose. The rest - Meh. Looks like it was done back in the later 60's, when all the parts for these cars were cheap! "There's no accounting for taste". -

MPC Monza and Mustang II Questions
Oldcarfan27 replied to Erik Smith's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Not true. 74 Mustangs had a smaller, squarer hood and do not interchange with the later M2s because of the hood overbite onto the nose piece. You could possibly transfer the nose and hood from the 74 to a 75-78 or the roof part. Either way it's gonna take some crafty cutting. -
That's it!! Intimidating, huh?

1:10 Scratch Built DUEL truck
Oldcarfan27 replied to antwan1989's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Looks great. 1/10 scale is quite a shelf filler. It's also R/C standard scale. Are you planning to motorize it? -
Box Art Puzzles from Round2
Oldcarfan27 replied to Casey's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I'm really surprised they didn't capitalize on the theme and sell the ones in Coca-Cola boxes. -
Looking great so far. Only thing that really bothers me on the Revell Torino is that the C-pillar looks too big and the quarter window looks too small. I also see the rear roof angle is curved and looks to me like it's supposed to be flat. I have a Cougar build in mind, as soon as I can figure out how to round out the sides, eliminate the rear quarter styling scoops and match the bulging wheelwells front and rear. Which it looks like you've already solved.

How to pronounce Porsche
Oldcarfan27 replied to afx's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Forget that there Porch, where's my Byuck? And get that Hundee of my lawn!! Just FYI, I'm so giddy to get me one of them "Zshag-you-ars" after hearing about how to pronounce it on their pretentious commercials. -
Let's See Some Survivors!
Oldcarfan27 replied to Snake45's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I think Snake wants to see old builds, not necessarily ones YOU built. I've gotten old built-ups before, but most were so badly built or broken that I hadn't planned to save them as is. This thread is for the few that got saved since they were built. -
Go forth and prosper! ?

I have one of those kits. I've always had plans to make a Ferris Bueller replica from it. I know it wasn't a real Ferrari, but it was SUPPOSED to be one in the movie, so why not? Yours shows how close it looks to the movie car!
-
Yes, it IS a crime. And as soon as you pull the engine out of the kit, the plastic police will come to your house, check the VINs of the engine and the car you put it in to see if they match. If they don't, they will arrest you and confiscate the kits in question and impound them and sell them on Ebay as a penance for your nefarious and evil deeds! I see a lot of them on Ebay and I'm sure that's how they got there! ?? Well, that's my story anyway. Enjoy your criminal activity. We've all done it.

Was it just this car or was there an event going on? Pretty cool to see it get that kind of exposure.

Lindberg 66 chevelle SS. Any good?
Oldcarfan27 replied to Dragline's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
My comments were regarding the Monogram/Revell 66. I haven't built the Lindberg/AMT kit. -
I really don't understand the ruffled feathers over a topic that's just meant to be fun and conversational. Folks here were just having a light-hearted talk about some ideas and thoughts about what we'd like to see. Nobody had any delusions that any of this stuff would ever come to market, it's just fun to share our dreams. Why does that have to be criticized? It happens every time a "what if" topic comes up. Sorry guys, don't bother bringing up suggestions - other members already have all the answers! Rant over.
