  1. Awesome job on this!
  2. It's a great series, I picked them all up over the course of several years and am very happy with all of them.
  3. I've had mixed results using nail polish in the past, hence my hesitation on going outside of hobby colors. With my luck I'd get a perfect color, test it on a scrap piece with good results, then have the 50-year-old hood craze on me. I know there's a chance for *any* paint to go sideways, I'm just looking to minimize my risk.
  4. I want to finally get these two out of the stash and built, but I'm a little stuck on what colors/paints would be best. Officially, his is painted "Murano Gold" and hers is is painted "Hot Candy Pink," but trying to figure out what that translates to (vintage or current) has been an exercise in frustration. So I want to see if anyone here has any suggestions, especially interested to hear if anyone has attempted or completed this set already. I'm open to pretty much anything - rattle can, airbrush, Tamiya, ScaleFinishes, MCW, Mr.Hobby, Zero, etc. - but would like to keep it to hobby paints since I want to play it safe with this vintage plastic. Thanks in advance!
  5. Thanks for the close looks and comparisons, it's very helpful! I've also looked at a few of these over the years, and while I don't necessarily mind caricature cars I prefer to know that's what I'm getting before I buy.
  6. Thanks for that, your photos and description make it clear on how it's done. I've done some casting and have worked with those paints several times, now it's just a matter of putting all the pieces together!
  7. The color and finish look fantastic, nice work!
  8. As a former '84 owner, I've always liked the look of these Monte Carlos. Jevries used to do an LS conversion for the Monogram kit, not sure if he still makes them or not but might be worth dropping him a line. He's at https://www.facebook.com/Jevrieslowriders.
  9. Sharp work as always! I particularly like the way you modernized the red panels - instantly recognizable while properly fitting the lines of this car.
  10. Nice subtle work on the weathering, this looks great!
  11. Very clean work, it turned out great!
  12. Excellent save, this turned out fantastic! Can you tell us more about how you did the pleasted dash? I just happen to have one on the bench right now that needs the same treatment and I'm trying to figure out the best way to do it.
  13. Thanks, guys!
  14. Excellent work, I especially like the detail of the open wing window!
  15. Thanks, guys! I hit up eBay for these - there are a lot of sellers parting out both AMT and Monogram '57 kits, and you can get a set for less than a set of Pegasus or Aoshima aftermarkets.
  16. Thanks! It's amazing how such a relatively small change makes such a big difference.
  17. Beautiful work! I do wish these were more readily available, it's such an interesting look.
  18. Very nice!
  19. Excellent work on the weathering, that looks great!
  20. Thanks, guys! A quirky combination of impatience and bad luck - some sort of model building blind spot, I guess. This one didn't escape entirely unscathed, either. That rocker trim you mentioned? I would have sanded it off like I did with the fuel injection scripts, had I been looking at the right reference material when I was doing the parting seam cleanup. I only noticed my mistake after it was painted, and I wasn't willing to go back and redo it at that point!
  21. Awesome build, that definitely qualifies - it looks like it's going 200+ just sitting there!

    Nice looking build!
  23. For some reason, I've not had much luck trying to build '57s - from AMT or Revell. They've all ended up abandoned, parts-boxed, or technically finished but unspoken of. So I decided to give it another go with Revell's snap kit, and in an effort to keep me on track I tried to keep it as close to box stock as possible. I switched the wheels for a set from AMT's kit, which worked well since both use metal axles, but otherwise it's just paint and BMF. I'm still not 100% satisfied with the results, but I'm not outright annoyed by it either so I'm calling it a win.
