Concerned about my inability to stick with one model through to the finish I am.

I am working on my first model with opening doors. Thanks to this thread I’ve pretty much got the hinges configured. I want to install 3mm magnets to keep the door closed. In order to drill a hole in the door jamb for the magnet, I used a PC board drill by hand to put in a pilot hole. Then I made this “shorty” pin vise from a really crappy one that I had no use for. I also had to cut down the drill bit so it was short enough to fit in the door opening.

Nice clean looking old Bronco!? Makes me want to get back at mine.? -
For close fitting seams I use Tamiya quick setting cement in the square green bottle. Seams with gaps I will use 5 minute epoxy or good old Testors red tube glue. Superglue (CA) in thin, medium or thick is also very popular with a lot of folks on here. Make sure to get rid of flash to get the best fit possible.

Sorry to hear about your accident Andy. Like others have said, don’t give up too soon. This can be a very therapeutic hobby, and you’ll find lots of friendly support here on this forum too. Best wishes! -

Greatly improved are my modeling skills since joining this forum!?

I have also used a pin vise with a drill bit mounted backwards in it. The drill bit has the advantage of many sizes available, but a light touch is required because they are brittle (good use for already broken ones?). I find going around corners easier, as it is not as directional as the #11 blade.

That’s a nice looking Chevy!? Maybe you had some of that bad foil that was around lately….that could make a first go real frustrating.

Is this a commercial caster, or just a fellow model builder??

Okay, those Palmer kits, from what I understand, are best left in the box.

I only spent a few minutes in it to snap some pictures. They may have stolen a socket set unless it is under the rubble somewhere. They didn’t bother to take a portable radio/cd player. It almost seems like they were looking for something in particular, since every inch of the trailer was searched…..if so, maybe they got the wrong trailer? They must have been using a large candle for light, since there is a huge puddle of wax melted into the sofa. If they did this just to get their jollies, it could have been much worse! There are security cameras and our trailer door is plainly visible on one, but the manager said they weren’t able to find the incident on it? The vandal(s) left behind something that wasn’t there before, so the police went and retrieved it to dust for prints. Hopefully they catch the #&*%§ ‘s although the consequences certainly won’t be enough to prevent future crimes I’m sure.

1) While out of the country, someone broke into our trailer in a locked storeage compound and trashed it (and others).? Not one corner or cabinet wasn’t touched…..just deliberate destruction. 2) The insurance company had unilaterally raised our deductible from $500 to $750 after our mouse claim. ? 3) The woman at the insurance company that my wife spoke to (who didn’t speak English well) asked her if we had recently visited a farm ????
