That color looks perfect Michelle. Spot on. Nice looking build.

The body was painted when I bought it and I stripped it in the purple pond. Then washed. Primered. Waited 3 weeks before spraying the first coat. Waited about 2 weeks before adding the second coat. My hobby room is in the basement but it's heated and maintains the heat around 70 degrees. I shook it for quite a while. But I did notice that it didn't spray as heavy as say Testors canned paint. And it wasn't really covering well but pooling around the handles, side trim. Like it was really thin paint.

Thanks for the input Randy. The can does't really give much info as to what's in it. It's a special order Duplicolor paint. The can says enamel, acrylic, lacquer and poly. I asked what poly meant and they told me it meant metallic. My first spray was light because as I was applying the first coat. I could see it begin to pool around the trim, door handles. emblems and the curves in the body. So I thought I was doing the right thing by stopping and then putting a second coat on later. Like I said. It looked beautiful for about 30 seconds. LOL

Yes I was Carl. I emailed the guy after he refunded my money to tell him I wanted to pay him for the kit. But he refused.

I never knew they buried cars there. Interesting.
-
That is awesome.

Thanks for the input. And Snake. I didn't even notice that the paint on the can crinkled also. So I would assume the paint is bad? I just bought it for $25 at O'Reilly's auto parts store 2 weeks ago. I have looked for light green paint at all the auto parts stores and there isn't any. Mostly dark colors except for silver and gold tones.

No. Not at all. ?
-
I responded earlier. Were you able to salvage any of them? Such a shame.

Oh Steve. He refunded everything! Cost of the kit. Shipping and tax. I told him that wasn't fair to him. That all I wanted was a steering wheel if he had another one. He said in the ad he had a couple of these kits he was listing. So I thought if one didn't sell. He could just send me the steering wheel. He reply "I'm just going to give you a full refund and have fun with the model". I was shocked as that was not my intent at all.
-
Maybe. I'm not in my model room so I thought it was a 66.. The Grand Slam Pontiac. Sprayed it. Some spots only on the hood. So I removed the hood to soak and repaint it and that pulled a bit of paint off the top of one front fender. Tried to touch it up but then the paint ran down the side of the fender. Back into the pond. LOL I like to spray the hood in place so the color matches. I've done them separately before and they always look a bit off.

Nice. Like the flair side a lot and I have the car lift. Unfortunately I lost the little airgun that goes to it.

Most of my interaction with eBay have been positive with just a few negative experiences such as the incident with the Trumpeter Falcon. And a dishwasher rack that was damaged and the seller tried to claim I did it on purpose. Whatever. Both times PayPal got a refund for me. So I got my Johan Studebaker convertible in the mail today. So excited to finally score one at a reasonable price. It was described as being new, unopened and in original wrap with a section of the wrap slightly cut on the left side. Well the left side cut clearly showed that the kit had been opened. The flap made it possible to open the end of the box and get all the parts out. I was a little worried that it would be a mess. Well some of the parts were loose but it was complete. Yay! No! The steering wheel is broken. So I contacted the ebay seller and he immediately gave me a full refund and told me to keep the kit. Yay again. So. Next question. Does anyone have a spare blue steering wheel? Pretty please. LOL

Seeing my last 2 paint jobs went bust. I felt I needed to get out of the house. All the talk lead me to traveling to our nearest Ollies and Hobby Lobby. Ollies had air planes and ships. Spoke to one of the managers and he explained they really have no idea what was shipped to them until the box is opened because they only have boxes with a word on them like "toys" or "Electronics" on them. He showed the boxes to me. I check Hobby Lobbys website quite often because the one girl who was in charge told me that usually the websites show ne items before the stores even know. I saw this morning they had something like 15 - 20 new items in the model section. They were all diecasts. But that made me think they would have to clear some new space for these items. So maybe my HL marked the kits down, No luck. But I did manage to get a few items on my venture today which also include stops at 2 Micheals as I had 2 50% off coupons. I got new tweezers and a small clamp at HL. Then the Camaro and the Oldsmoble at Micheals. Each under $10 including sales tax. The Studebarker Lark I won on eBay and was waiting patiently at my door for me to get home. With the Studebaker i went from happy to get it. Unhappy once I opened it. Then back to happy. The rest of the studebaker story will be on the "What pleased you today" posts.

If I remember correctly Snake. The last time you had to frequent the stores pretty regularly as the kits changed on and off. So who knows. Maybe try calling? I asked the manager about that and he said they could only tell you what they had on the floor. Not what was in the warehouse as the box are not marked. I could see what he was talking about buy looking at the boxes on the floor being unloaded. A lot of the boxes had things like"toys" to "remote". Stuff like tat on them.

Well my 1966 Grand Prix went back into the purple pond also. I might better stick to the pre painted models like the pro shop kits. LOL
-
Went to Ollies in Colonie, NY today. Just ships and planes. And the manager could answer if they will get cars or trucks because they don't know what is in each box until they open them. While there I went to Hobby Lobby seeing their website listed about 15 new items in the model section and they have about 15 -20 new items listed day. All diecast. So I was hoping they had marked the other kidts down. No such luck.

Too funny. I was going buy a blast whistle lol.

Another call. Same message. Different number.
-
I always had a problem of spraying too heavy. So the first coat was light. I thought being the same brand primer and paint. It wouldn't be an issue.
-
When does the sale start. Did it have the sales flyers running dates in the ad.
-
I get 4 5 or more a day. I’m alway in NoMoRoBo and the Fed do not call list websites. We can send a man to the moon but not stop these annoying calls. One call had my own number as the calling number. Who can figure that out?
-
Ok. Thanks Steve. Thanks Bruce. In it goes.

This was a kit I bought that was started. Stripped it. Primed it with Duplicolor sandable primer. Painted one coat of special order Duplicolor GM Cascade Green Poly ($25 plus tax a can). My grandmother’s 1966 Delta 88 was that color. Loved it. First spray looked OK but I didn’t spray it too heavy figuring to light sand and spray on a second coat. Wait aa week and spray on second coat. Disaster hits. Don’t know why. It’s a mess. I should have been happy with the first coat. Now. How long do I wait before it goes back into then purple pond? A week so it’s totally dry first?

This phone call I just received from phone number 518-901-8114. A robo call which said... "HI, I'm from your mortgage company and want to know, can you hear me ok? I said "no". I've heard about these calls where they want to record you saying "yes". Then they use that recorded "yes" fraudulently. Just putting the word out there. Be ware.
