  1. LOL I figured you'd have this all figured out
  2. Jerry would have been thrilled. I really miss his photography...
  3. whoah that's sharp.
  4. This is a really nice build. It totally captures the look of the day, in the typical bland colors of the day. Not to suggest this is a bland built...its a fantastic build. Probably the best build of this kit I've ever seen. I have no opened one of thee since the 80s, and I never got one right back then due to fit issues you mention.
  5. FWIW I use a 2 part urethane clear made by Nasan, and it's very inexpensive compared to the Dupont, etc.. I am very pleased with it. I specifically asked about a reducer, as it just seemed like something seemingly this "thick" needed one. They assured me it did not, and they were right. I have to use 35 psi (real high compared to what i use for the paint), but it yields a very nice even and thin clear coat. Though the guy thought I was nits for using it on plastic...swore it'd melt it. LOL It didn't haha
  6. Norm Veber of Replicas in Miniatures of Maryland makes the Revell Chopper Parts. Last NNL east he did not bring any and told me he doesn't keep them in stock because they stopped selling. Though I am pretty sure he'd make whatever you need if you requested it. He made me a 67 Mustang kit (rear panel, non gt grill, etc) and he does not stock that either. He also has a couple tanks. This one has the RMM carb and tank. The air cleaner he has is real nice but I chose this one.
  7. Yeah Jon you are right.. and the same "real" hobby shop used to be 5 minutes from my house until the landlord raised the rent, and the hobby shop owners said %$@# you and moved to Manchester. What's worse is that the store where they used to be has been empty since they left, which has to be 3 + years now.
  8. I find I have to replace mine every year or two. Its the lower grits that start wearing out. You'll be able to tell...for me when the 3200, 3600 and 4000 all start felling like the same grit, its time to replace them. In my experience the 6, 8 and 12,000 seem to last a really long time. I guess probably because by the time you get to 6000 its already sufficiently smooth. As everyone else said, go slow and make sure its wet. Dry it off to check your progress...and to echo everyone else, be really careful on raise areas because it'll burn through in a flash. I find that using urethane 2 part clear helps to alleviate the risk of burning through the high areas, but not completely. JJ
  9. I love cars and I love to build stuff. That's about it.
  10. I built this to replicate my Uncle's wifes car, and I will give it to him soon. I got the body kit from a guy in the UK who's name escapes me, but it was good quality. The wheels are the XS Tuning wheels and the paint is Testors red bottle lacquer, cleared with 2 part urethane. This has been on and off my bench for a year and a half. I still need to make the license plate and the dual exhaust pipes.
  11. It's Duplicolor Whimbledon white
  12. Mexican Grand Prix driver Pedro Rodriguez drove this car at the SCCA national meeting in Green Valley, where he won a B-Production race beating the factory prototype of Jerry Titus. I wanted to build something different...something not seen every day. I took a few "creative liberties". I mistakenly glued the gas cap filler cover on prior to painting white...as a result I could not paint the stripes all the way down the back of the car, because I could not get the masking to fit correctly around that piece. The stripes would have been crooked. I also added a couple decals and used the numbers from the kit (98 versus 18...though I did see pics of this car in a slightly different schema with a different number). Other than the number decals, the rest were made on my inkjet. The LeMans stripes were masked off and painted. Now onto a 66 Mustang convertible that will be Emberglow in color.
  13. Tony T, you, and me... Mine, I guess, is more of a Fox body than a Fox chassis. I credit this challenge with my actually building this kit, which has been in my head for 25 years. I have a 79 pace car going, but lost interest. Community builds need to have a reasonable duration. If it goes on too long you have loss of interest. That's maybe what happened here. Thanks for starting this because its been fun to watch.
  14. We have fish. My hobby room is the kitchen even though I have plenty of space for an actual hobby area. We have a 20 gallon tank in my daughters room with a few goldfish and a couple algae eaters. she is going to set up a 10 gallon this weekend form some warm water tropical fish. If's a fun hobby. You have to make sure to do the 10% water changes and vacuum the gravel every week with goldfish or it gets nasty lol
  15. Thanks Bill ! The double redlines are actually kit supplied decals. They go on nice.
  16. I sure would like to see a nicely done Pantera kit. I know they are out there but I mean a new one with an engine. It's a pipe dream and it'll never happen, but I we can wish.
  17. I'd drive one. but if I were shopping for a car, I'd definitely not make it out of the Chevy dealer without the keys to a new Camaro. So for me the question is moot
  18. Thank you very much for the kind words Bob. I like your perspective on the Falcon too. That's on my short list of "to do's"
  19. I love the Monogram 65 Fastback...Here is mine. I have the GT 350R version going now and plan a standard GT350 to follow. Actually the 65 Mustang is probably my all time favorite model kit.
  20. It's how we parents are pal...we're put on this earth to protect our kids from harm. You will too some day
  21. LOL @ everyone's comments. I don't let me kids ride their bikes on the major roads either My wife went to Rome and traveled Italy a few years ago (with her mother). Enjoy the trip. For what its worth, I think it'd be pretty cool to visit a hobby shop in Rome... Yeah there is a lot more to see but why not fit in a hobby shop too. Whoever said seen one seen them all is on something. I've never been anywhere outside the US except the Netherlands, Bahamas and Bermuda. I've been everywhere in the US..... I LOVE NYC and Chicago... I live in (bear) Boston. I'd love to travel abroad...and I'd probably seek out hobby shops while I was there.
  22. Maybe 8 hours...all Friday and Sat nights, Maybe Sat and Sunday. Rarely if ever on a week day.
  23. not the Krylon fusion.. i am talking about regular Krylon semi gloss black.
  24. Krylon Semi Gloss Black looks great over black primer. Over bare plastic not so much. Prime it with a duplicolor or Plastikote Black primer, then shoot the semi gloss Krylon. You'll like it a lot better.
  25. That of the rarer 69 Mustang kits. Its a coupe and I'd say on ebay it't bring more than 40 bucks..I've seen them go for more than that.
