The body was in the works and AMT beat them to the punch, this was how revell used it. The finishing was not done on the mold for the body so when the drag car came into play didn'tt bother finishing it and left stuff like door lines out. It is in the revell book by Thomas Graham.

Have an aero coupe needs finished, finally got the decals from Mikes!! Out of stock for awhile. Those builds look great!!

The story behind that kit is to cool. How it came to be. The build is looking cool as well.

I have an 01 with the 4.8 LS. Might swap it into my 65 F100. Just bought a 13 impala with 78 thousand miles for back and forth to work.

The real ones were 20 footers at best.

In my experience when the wrap yellows it becomes brittle as well. It will sound like a plastic shopping bag if there is any slack in the fit to the box.
-
Another thing I've noticed on original sealed kits is the wrap is more brittle, will be yellowed and I'm aware that a lot of these things are based on how the kit was stored but IMO the wrap will closely match the box's condition.

Expect a call from Humpty Dumpty. Great work seriously though!!

Turned out nice Bill!! -
Wife kept me busy but some minor updates. Lightly sanded and added some light / dark brown paints to simulate dirt and also made the tires look dirty. I know the cars marked Firestone tires and the tires are hoosiers, not all uncommon for that to happen and I could not find my tire decals so I used my hoosier powerslide ones. Thanks for the tip Alan!!

Nice job on that build to your Friend. It would be a shame if he did not continue building. Even a better job to you Christopher for the help and encouragement of your Friend.

Nice work / paint!! Now lets discuss the weather, its a balmy 14 degrees here in Michigan. The paint would freeze.

time to get rid of stuff
wrenchr replied to randyc's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Ways around that, the board could set a post minimum but I would set that high 1000 or more posts and a thread start min as well like 250 and then offer an elite member package like a subscription for a fee. Those three things combined would weed out most, nothings perfect. -
Thanks Elvin, Actually got the weekend off so plan on getting it done and into under glass which would be a personal milestone of mine as I've never accomplished that feat.

My suggestion is start a thread and basically give them away to those in need. PM basis kind of thing so its private, my priority would be Vets and retired people on fixed incomes. I would keep it to the lower 48 for cost reasons. -

Thanks Alan, I will try that with the sandpaper, never thought of it. The wash I have done on other cars and trucks and it really tones down the finish, but in this case gave more depth and grunge to the finish. On the Fairlane I did the same wash and then dullcote.
