  1. That's a gorgeous looking car. Interesting to learn about diorama display cases. Shame they never took off.
  2. Terrific build! Looks spot-on from every angle and that interior is superb. Nice photos, too.
  3. That's a good build. The engine detail is very nicely done. The body colour looks like a proper Volvo colour, too.
  4. Proper eye-candy! I know what you mean when you see something you need to change, but until you mentioned it, the aircleaner didn't stand out as a glaring error, so don't beat yourself up mate. That's a great looking build?
  5. Awesome! looks razor sharp with the detail painting on the engine. You got a nice gleam on the body, too. I like the background...can I ask where you got it?
  6. You did this excellent kit real justice. It looks 1:1.
  7. Nice one Bob glad you got back to the bench and dusted off those skills of yours. looks like a very nice project to get your teeth into ?
  8. A great car and a great looking build! I've seen a few of these in the U.K., nearly all of them in nice condition. I sat in one last year. You gotta love Italian styling; the speedo and tachometer are obscured by your hands when you hold the steering wheel at ten-to-two. The non-essential dials are in the centre of the binnacle, where the other two should be! The car's owner thought it was quite amusing, too! He went on to say that the electrics are typical for older Italian cars. Plagued by intermittent faults. Doesn't like damp days. But, what a car!
  9. That's a handsome beast! Very nice idea. I'll be watching this one ?
  10. I wrapped foil tape around the tail lights, to look like chrome bezels. I reckon the metal muffler was worth it. I'll add a bit of heat stain before it goes under glass. couldn't resist a few shots in a diorama setting..
  11. Nearly got it finished today. Just got to fit the luggage rack on the back, to carry the suitcase.
  12. I agree, that colour really suits it. have you tried foiling the scripts before paint, then rub them with thinner on a swab to expose the highlights? It's easier than trying to hand paint them ?
  13. That's one cool ride, daddio! great wheels and colour. Looks very clean and crisp. I like this a lot ??
  14. Top model, Dale. very realistic build. Especially those headlights. I dunno why, but they look exceptionally lifelike. thumbs up all-round mate.
  15. Very nice! I'll be doing one of these soon. I have a tin top 59 with cracked roof pillars. Luckily, the kit provides a chrome windshield frame and a top-down ragtop.
  16. That came out well. The subtle reduction in height really works. I'll try and find the courage to cut up a body, like that. It looks like a challenge, but worth the effort.
  17. Got the carpet flocked and some of the interior gubbins fitted. also spent all of Saturday polishing the paint down to 8000 grit, followed by Tamiya polishing compound, waxed and polished with detailer spray. Got a wet-look finish ?
  18. Got the front sitting lower. Now it looks a bit more sporty.
  19. Fantastic! It looks like a 'Zinger'. I bet it was a white-knuckle ride, too.
  20. Got the clearcoat on, yesterday. Had to bury the flake a bit. It was a rough finish. I'm always pleased with how a clearcoat transforms paint. I do love a bit of sparkle ? I've just chopped off the lower suspension arms and taken a bit out of the upper supports. To get wheel clearance, I'll need to remove the upper section of this support. So I added styrene blocks to the insides of these and epoxied them to the arches. When I chop out the tops with a Dremel, the epoxied blocks should hold the remaining part of the support in place. Then I'll be able to sit the nose lower and tuck the wheels in, a bit.
  21. Looks like a splendid conversion. I'm very interested to see how it turns out. The reference photo looks great.
  22. You're off to a great start! That engine looks fabulous. detail painting is one of my favourite parts of a build, too. And weathering.
  23. Thanks guys the wheels arrived from Japan yesterday. I'll need to modify the front suspension to get the ride height like the mock-up photo.
  24. As soon as the candy green was touch dry, I removed the tape. I love this part! it's important to remember that it's not a case of getting a glossy finish with the candy. The clearcoat will take care of the gleam ?
  25. Thanks, Dan. It's a tricky shape to work with, but I'm getting more practice with the paint. got the candy green on, this evening..
