  1. Still a way to go...
  2. Got more tape done. Hoping to lay down the background colour tomorrow night. then more tape!
  3. Laid down some tape for the silver pinstripes. I'm having a think about how to proceed. I've been using 3M blue tape for the first time. It sticks well and allows for repositioning. Seems to be thinner and a bit stronger than Tamiya tape.
  4. Cheers John! yeah, I've been wondering about wheels. I quite fancy painting the Daytons, but sovereigns or some Cragars might also look cool. I'm gonna dig around in my scrapyard and see if I can find any alternatives to the D's. I've got more of those modelhaus 60's thin whitewalls that I can use.
  5. Thanks for your interest, guys. I've done a couple before and I'm managing to make them slightly more complex, each time. I recently did this 70 Impala. I'm hoping to improve on this.
  6. I'm currently in love with lowriders and bombs. There's something about the detail and the colours that fascinates me. I'm trying to improve my paint skills, so lowrider paint jobs are a great way to learn new techniques and get creative. So I've got my supplies ready: tamiya tape, new #11 blades, 4 different width line knives, 6 shades of glitter nail polish and 3 solid colours. I'm going to freestyle my design. The horizontal surfaces will be patterned with shades of red with pinstripes in silver and the sides will be mica white with some subtle pinstripes in silver. The gold Daytons will either be stripped and painted red/white or red candy over the gold. I'll try and post the steps of taping and painting, as I go.
  7. Very shiny and handsome! Nice colour and great interior custom work ?
  8. I really love this shape/model year. Just gorgeous. It's plain to see how much work went into your superb build. I like the wheels. They fit the overall proportions of the car. If only the big names would produce a kit of this...
  9. That's a great looking replica! I wish I had the 1:1!
  10. Very nice indeed! I agree. That Revell kit is a peach. I built a Mk1 and slammed it on stance wheels. If it wasn't for a growing stash of unbuilt kits..I'd get another!
  11. A fine build of a real classic. I agree with some of the previous comments. Leave the white walls alone. They look good like that.
  12. Yeah, you nailed it! you crammed in a lot of details which really work well. I get to see a whole bunch of these MK1's here in the U.K. during the summer months. All of them are tuned and caged. Hardly any are 'stock'. I love these cars and you captured the feel of it very well. Despite the problems you mentioned, you got a very nice model out of this kit.
  13. Really nice looking, both of them! you definitely got a gloss on the black. Looks wet that Riv looks mean! I love it's front end.
  14. Nice one, Bruce! A great looking model! Nice scratch building skills you have there. Plenty of attitude. And it sits right, too. Looking forward to seeing more from you ?
  15. Man, that looks mean and classy in equal measure! nice job on the doors, too ?
  16. Oh boy! I DO like this! that engine is superb and I totally dig the roof. On top of all that, it's a rarely seen build here. You did it real justice ??
  17. Thanks David I thoroughly recommend this kit. I managed to get it for about 20 quid. It would also make a great barn-find, all weathered and dirty. maybe I'll do another ...?
  18. Thanks very much! I greatly appreciate your kind comments. I admire and respect your builds and many more posted on this forum. So to receive praise like this is amazing. cheers everyone
  19. That's a great looking car. I'd love to have a 1:1 version of it!
  20. Handsome and classy. Doesn't look like it needs a makeover.
  21. Extremely crisp and sharp build! I love the colour. Really suits it. nice interior detail, too ?
  22. I love this forum! I get to learn something new every time I login! It does bear a striking resemblance to the magazine cover. Very cool
  23. One more photo to show what's now covered by the rack and suitcase..
  24. A slight departure from my usual builds.. I lowered the ride height and used aftermarket BBS wheels and a metal muffler. I replace the tail lights with red bullet lenses and flocked the floor. Molotow chrome ink was airbrushed onto the parcel and luggage racks. Paint is mostly nail polish with some rattle can (& candy) paint decanted and thinned for airbrushing. This Revell kit is well made and has Tamiya fit quality. It's not often I build kits with such new tooling, so parts cleanup felt like a breeze. I hope you like it
  25. Despite your niggles about the tyres and hood fit, that's a really nice looking build. I dig the background setting. Makes it look more realistic, doesn't it?
