Body Badges, Insignias and Lettering
SCRWDRVR replied to ratherbefishin's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
No need to apologize, I personally have a hard time with them also, I seem to get my best results with the molotow pen paint on a brush but a lot of people are really good at it. -
trimming molotow chrome pen tips
SCRWDRVR replied to Paul Payne's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I tend to use the 2mm more then the 1mm, seems the 1 puts out to much paint for the size of the tip and doesn’t quite stay where you put it as well... You could have the same problem trimming the 2mm... -
I'm not sure when it started but I do know I have the kit of Tony Stewarts rookie car (1999) and it has rookie stripes.

Future furniture polish finish
SCRWDRVR replied to Greg Myers's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Pledge and Future are the same thing, Pledge bought the Future product it is currently called Pledge Revive It I usually brush it in the same fashion as listed above but I do put mine in a case to dry to keep the dust off of it. I have never done it but from what I have read there are people that dip it because it is self leveling. For what I've been told a lot of aircraft builders use it on the glass canopies and usually apply it by dipping. This is a modeled in color kit coated with Pledge Revive It -
Coca Cola Kits ?
SCRWDRVR replied to Greg Myers's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
In those cases though that was the sponsor of those real race cars.... Only one I have is the Ford delivery box truck but I got it because Coke is my drink of choice... ? -
Do you prime all pieces
SCRWDRVR replied to youpey's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I personally (and will probably be told I’m a bad boy lol) only prime the bodys part where I’m looking for that awesome shine. -
The cloudy looks like it is from humility or better known as blushing, I keep a small heater handy to point at mine when painting to help prevent that. They both look like they were to dry but the right one kind of looks like the sanding scratches are coming up like to course a paper was used.

I have always wanted a 69 Cougar Eliminator, preferably in black with a red interior... But there are a lot of 60's and 70's cars I like...

I built this kit a while back, it's a pretty nice kit. I look forward to following your build.

I will build it pretty much box stock but the Petty car is a fine example of I want it to look as much like the real car a possible built in that method, I’m sure I will sooner or later finish that Petty car

Copper/Gold Chrome ?
SCRWDRVR replied to Jon Haigwood's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I’ve gotten a similar effect using colored sharpies over chrome, try it out on some chrome trees to see if you like it -
Just had a great trade with BIGTRUCK easy to deal with and shipped right away, Thanks Ken

I'm happy with the blue just seems I can't find anything that makes me happy for the red, I think it's because I see one color and know that's not right. I've seen the Petty cars over the years (mostly late 80's and 90's) in person and those never seemed as bright as I hear it should be but definitely brighter than the pictures you see. i honestly don't need it to be perfect but I do want it to be reasonably close but that large swing in color almost makes it impossible to find something that I'm satisfied with. Yeah that is what makes it hard to make me happy with a color choice, I can't decide what makes me happy with it... It's funny that you saw it at Dover since that's were I live LOL...

There is definitely a difference looking at the two you can see it, I think I'm going to get some of the Chevy engine red when I get a chance. I was a painter for quite a while and believe me I understand about the different shades and ultimately like you said it's up to me. I want it close but I don't need it exact which is why I will use the Chevy engine red. I get it on the Petty colors, that Petty Grand Prix I started was done with what Testors called Petty blue t the time (early 90's) and isn't to bad but the Petty Red that I bought the same time wasn't even close it was more like a florescent orange and probably the reason I lost interest in the kit.... You can definitely see a difference there, it is amazing how different colors are from photos and in real life

I would think if it was the same formula it would have the same number but anything is possible, They build the same cars and just put different emblems on them LOL....
-
Thanks I will look for the Hugger Orange...
-
I will try the Chevy Engine Red first (more in my price range) I can always stripe the body if I don't like the out come. Thanks for the info, very helpful...

That would make sense from what I understanding, kind of puts it in perspective..... thanks
