Body and Chassis cutting?
SCRWDRVR replied to SCRWDRVR's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers

I’ve just recently gotten into modifying some kits doing rebuilds, I’m turning a mustang into a pro street style car but I need to cut the chassis to start. Of course we all know this stuff can be tough to cut with just a razor so I was curious to see what everyone else uses on projects like this to do the cutting.....

NASCAR to Drag conversion.
SCRWDRVR replied to SCRWDRVR's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Thanks I will do that... -
I have a bunch of NASCAR kits sitting around and have been thinking about converting some into drag cars of some kind. So what do you all think? 1) what type of drag car do they closest resemble? 2) what tips would you give to someone doing it?

It was no problem, as I said I was paying forward for help I got from other members most recently vintageslotcars and fomocomav both hooked me up with some decals. It's the least I could do to give back to the members and forum. I thank you for the cudo's but the great group of people here deserve it more than me....

This was my first for me to have issues like this with the dupli-color myself but I don't know why. It was kind of strange, every coat looked great when applied but after it sat for a bit it was bringing up what looked like a heavy orange peel. Very strange....

Thank you both.. Interior is Testors spray and the body is Dupli-color, why do you ask?

Nice, that would probably be real good on cars with consoles where you wouldn’t need the photo etched part to do it also...

How am I strip paint off a model car body
SCRWDRVR replied to fordlover632's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I’m betting many people don’t like it but I’ve been using brake fluid with no issues but I have heard it can be hard on the newer styrene. After I’m done stripping it I was it with spray nine then clean with prep all. I’ve been having good luck with that but I am doing older kits... -

Update: Making progress on it, Chassis is done and the Engine is drying waiting to go in. Working on the interior painting now and then on to all the detailing...

I plan to be there, it will be my first trip to one of these events...

The first one is a 68 or 69 the second is a 63 or 64 the last one is 68 to 70 I believe, they of course don’t give to much detail but if your wanting a 60’s bug I would do the middle one if it has the option of doing it stock or the original one they are the oldest ones. I have no knowledge on those actual kits though I’m just going off the pics

Looks like glass over headlights which makes it 66 or older and looks like it still has the smaller windows which makes it 64 or older and it doesn't have the Wolfsburg crest on the front which would make it 63 or newer so with the limited detail I would say 63 or 64. About the only real notable difference between 63 and 64 is if it has a sunroof the 63 would be canvas and the 64 would be steel. Needless to say I've had a few in my day lol.... Just saw the last post with the canvas sunroof makes it a 63
