  1. Nice job! Are those wheels from another kit? I thought the ones in the Riv kit were much wider?

  4.   I suspect he meant for Round2 to retool it in 1/25, not make your own. I'd buy one in 1/25, but 1/20 puts me off.
  5. There was a feature on Big Al in an early '90s R&C. From memory, it had a homemade multi disc clutch and direct drive through a large diameter (~12 inches) torque tube into a flipped Pontiac rearend. The rear axle was mounted upside down to work with the reverse rotation of the Allison vs. an auto engine.
  6. Tom Booth. The rolling chassis is on the cover of the August '66 Car Craft, not sure if it was featured in that issue though.
  7. I added a single turbo to mine. There's not a lot of room; I had to thin down the interior tub to gain some clearance.

  9. You might want to revisit your valve cover installation - not too late to fix it.
  10. I have the original issue Revell 'Black Magic' Peterbilt 359 from the early '80s. The tyres are all rotted and it's been stored in a box for 25 years. It was only out for the time it took to build it. These have also perished; Italeri kit but the tyres were from a RoG container trailer. At least it looks like a realistic flat tyre. This one was built in 1986:
  11. I like this. There are a couple of WFT brochures showing an intake stack feeding the back of the Farr filter. I have them saved on my other computer, so I can't upload them till later... I like the look of dual cans though - that's what I'm planning for my next one. Jesse is right about clearance being tight with a turbo.   12. Cheat proof? Hardly, it's obvious what was done with the image... Why cheat though, I mean where's the fun in using a reverse image search ?
  13. That's really impressive. I'm planning to do a Vanliner, but it'll be a simple build compared with this.
  14. Something else to be aware of is the front track is too wide, so the wheels stick out past the cab. I ground down the insides of the wheels and the faces of the brake drums to get the tyres under the cab.
  15. This might not get finished, but I'll stick it in here anyway. There are no suitable donor kits for this, so it'll be all scratchbuilt apart from the tyres. This is what I'm attempting: Progress so far:
  16. I don't get the fuss over these. They're oversize for 1/25, the hubs and bolt detail look toy-like and the offset on the 5 spokes is huge. I bought some of each and offloaded them as soon as I could.
  17. The injection manifold in the AMT '55 Nomad is about the best in 1/25. It's also in the '55 Chevy Sedan street machine kit (with the ugly pink car for box art). I'm not sure if it's in the stock version of the sedan? Nobody makes angled stacks like that, AFAIK, so you'll have to make those yourself.
  18. That's one of those confused modern reinterpretations, not a gasser in the original sense of the word. 10 spokes are a recent creation to allow a five stud mounting. The original American Racing wheels were 12 spoke spindle mounts, in 15" and 18" as Jesse already pointed out.
  19. Nice work so far, I like the looks of the early ones. How's this? Unfortunately, it's on Fotki, so many of the images are MIA. At least this one with the dash is still there...
  20. I made some progress today. I've got the engine installed and the new air intake and ducting fitted. Clearance is tight, but the cab fits. I've also made up some prototypical bracing for the stack mounts, so I hope they won't keep falling off now... of course, having added the support struts, the kit exhaust no longer fits. Three steps forward, two steps back...
  21. Friday update. I painted the new engine parts, but couldn't remember how I mixed the beige before... I think it was a better match the first time, but never mind. Also primed the cab in white. It will be green & white, but I haven't settled on a stripe pattern yet. Also got the interior started, it might look the same colour as the engine, but it's not, it's darker and has some gold mixed in to give it a sheen.
  22. Slow and steady progress. The cab still needs fettling, but after several fill-sand-prime-repeat sessions it's almost there. I assembled the kit steps but wasn't happy with the fit, so I ended up filling the cab. I'll make stirrup steps. I got a bit further with the new air cleaner. It still needs bolt heads, but it's about done. I've roughed in a new intake scoop and duct, but didn't take a photo...
  23. I hope it is a myth that the tooling was destroyed. I'd really like to see it reissued in any guise.
  24. I thought it had been irreversibly modified to create the T600. Still, Round2 have restored tooling for the some of the car kits, so who knows.
