Dale....I will give it a try with my next Mclaren project. A friend of mine wanted a 1/43 version of this car built and he provided me a sample bottle of paint that was alleged matched to the nose of a real Mclaren. Mr Color 109 Character Yellow matched this sample spot on. So I used it and it looked good to me.

Very cool picture Gary, its similar to the box art. The windshield was vacuum formed in clear green plastic. No need to color it.

On a roll with resin kits. This one is also a Fisher and represents the Mclaren M6A that Bruce and Denny Hulme drove in the 1967 Can Am series. Colour is Mr Color 109 Character Yellow. This is a semi gloss colour and had to be clear coated. This particular colour was the closest match to a sample taken off the nose cone of an early F1 Mclaren. There has always been a huge debate over the orange colour used by Mclaren. But this was my choice. Other features include steering wheels, wired and plumbed engine insert, handmade roll bar and seat belts. This kit was by no means a walk in the park. Much grinding and fitting has to be done to get the chassis and wheels to sit right in the body. But in the end it was worth it as i am fairly pleased with the results. Comments appreciated as always.I have a pet peeve about non steering wheels on a model. This was my solution. Plastruct rectangular tubing, brass rod and the stock axle. The roll bar was made from a steel paper clip. I got lucky when one end of it was just the right size.

The color was a personal choice. I had no intention of making this a "scale replica" Its a model car and just has to look good to the eye. It also had to match the other cars in my collection, in particular the 312 spyder. I have had great results with Tamiya TS49 so I stuck with that. Hope you understand better.

My first resin in a while. This is a Paul Fisher Ferrari 312P coupe. Paint is Tamiya TS49 Bright red. Some extra features include steering wheels (my pet peeve) seatblets, and some extra photo etch. Build was pretty straight forward but with all resin kits it is the time spent preparing parts. Body in particular. Not my first trip with a Fisher kit as you can see I have it also as a 312P spyder. They make a nice dispaly in my Ferrari section. Thanks for looking.

Thank you for the compliment. I have the Tamiya kit completed as well. The working door hinges that Tamiya supplied were very clever. They pulled out and then up. And the door fit when closed was superb.

Mike...not to my knowledge. I soaked the decals in very warm water then applied them with some solvent. Then a hair dryer on low and worked them with a wet brush. Didn't do that the first time around and probably used too much solvent. If you have ever used the heat trick with decals you should be OK

Been a while since I posted here but I am back to building. This is a UT Models 1/24 Opel Calibra that was driven in the German Touring Car division by Keke Rosberg and Klaus Ludwig in 1995. UT Models is more well known for their diecast and I also have the 1/18 version of this car. Kit was by no means a walk in the park. Three tone paint job consists of Pactra acrylic pearl white, Tamiya TS47 chrome yellow and Tamiya TS55 Dk blue metallic. Decals proved to be the hardest challenge as they were the stiffest I have ever encountered. Much heat and solvent were required to get them to lay down. Some extras added were seatbelts, steering wheels and some photo etch. Rest of the kit was box stock and quite detailed. These hood decals proved to be the most problematic. They eventually wrinkled and have to be buried in clear. Then sanded smooth after the a few months of curing. It was several years before I returned to this because of that. I really enjoy haveing different sizes of the same car. I also have a Microchamps 1/64 version of the same car on its way.

Great looking job. Like you, mine has languished in the box for years. Have this and the clear one all decalled and ready to go. You beat me to it and now i am inspired to finish mine too. Thanks

Nice job on a tough kit. You did well.

Nice build and the pictures are great.

Nice looking build and great progress so far. Wish I had done some of that detailing to mine and wasn't in such a hurry to get it to a show.

Nicely done. Having done this kit myself I know how difficult those decals are. You have done it justice.

Here is the kit and the diecast. Saw him race at Watkins Glen more than once. He was definetly a cut above the race. Nice guy too, I understand.

I have two others in my stash too. What really helps is what you learn on the first one makes the last two go a lot easier. The others I have are the Scott Sharp Rain-X and the Ron Fellows Sunoco. I just bought a 1/18 Diecast of the Fellows car and they will look nice together.

I found another set on Ebay and when I opend the package there were two sets in there. If you want my extra set let me know. I have no use for it.
