  1. I love these kits from Aoshima and all the options you have for building them. This one was part of the Grand Champion series with the flares and the deep dish rims but I opted for a more 'stock' looking build with just some subtle rims and a decent amount of lowering. With so many headlight, taillight, and interior options, you can buy the kit several times over and come out with a completely different looking car each time. Thanks for looking Spencer
  2. I love dune buggies and Kit Cars and all the interesting things you can do with a VW frame. I wanted to see what the old Revell VW frame and pan was like and if it had any comparison the the AMT Meyers Manx or the IMC VW Beatle are they were all kind of done around the same time. Turns out this engine is terrible and even the included corvair engine doesn't really make this a great kit but that being said, it was a blast to put it together. Some wires and some mods to the transmission mounts and you have a decent little dune buggy. Next dune buggy is going to be the AMT version but for now, this will have to do. Thanks for looking. Spencer
  3. I enjoyed this build a lot actually and while the innards are pretty much identical to the Tamiya Testarossa kit, the interior and obviously the exterior are quite unique. The finish did not quite come out as planned but good enough for me to enjoy it on my shelf. Thanks for looking! Spencer
  4. Thanks for the info. I did indeed have to paint on the badges but it would have been nice to have the decals. Ah well, I will be buying more of these old skylines, no question. What an awesome kit. Appreciate you checking.
  5. looking good.
  6. Thank you!
  7. Thank you so much for saying!
  8. Sorry to bring up such an old thread but I have a quick question for you. Those Skyline badges on the rear quarters, did those come with your kit or did you get them elsewhere? I am just starting a 4 door build of the C210 and your thread came up in an image search on Google when I was looking for reference photos. This one turned out pretty much exactly how I want my own to end up. This is beautiful. Thanks for any info.
  9. Awesome, thanks for watching. Always appreciate it.
  10. Thanks guys. I agree you can see how the firebird got its overall shape from this concept.
  11. The first gen CRX has always been one of my favorite cars and this Mugen kit by Tamiya is pretty awesome with those fender flairs that aren't seen on the standard version.
  12. Box stock set up. Had a few issues putting it together, especially the glass but overall, not bad. Considering doing it again but making the doors open.
  13. wow, love this. Exactly the kind of build I would want for my shelf.
  14. Love it. Eager to see the finished product.
  15. Hey, thanks so much for the kind words guys! everyone here is so inspiring. I have some more kits on the way but it looks like I have to move to a different Lighthouse so it will be a while before I can start to build again. Until then, thank you so much.
  16. Awesome, pretty sure the Flintstone one was the one I had. That is great but wow, that C1 looks amazing. A lot more expensive but it looks like the end result is a whole lot more. Thanks so much for the links, I really appreciate it. Anyone have one of these actually built? To see the outcome.
  17. Some time back I did have a resin body of a new Camaro done as a station wagon. I never did get to build it and the body was lost with a lot of my other kits at the time. I am wondering if anyone has any leads on who did this kit and where I might find it or maybe a corvette wagon? Actually just about any oddball wagon could work. Leads are super appreciated. Thanks guys.
  18. I recently finished the Tamiya 3000 GT and it inspired me to get this kit as well and give it a go. Your blue is stunning and you have a stellar looking model there. I think the thing that bothered me most about the Dodge is that wonky half spoiler. I can almost overlook it on your kit, the overall look is so bang on. Almost. Nice work. Loving it.
  19. That rust is legit. Amazing job and completely to scale. Love it.
  20. Completed Jan 13th 2020
  21. All Right! Going to call this one done. The silver is terrible and has scratches and scuffs and is not glossy at all but I will chalk it up to another learning experience and move on. Otherwise pretty happy with the turnout. Never used the metal stick on bits before but they look great and was not too difficult. The Tamiya kit is great on it's own and posed no issues putting together at all. I am eager to get onto the next kit but have to wait a bit for the next mail to arrive in Feb. That is OK, I will plan out everything I am going to do.
  22. Oh man, that would be awesome. There are many Skylines available in Vancouver, off and on from several import dealerships but never quite considered one myself. Now if I can get my hands on a good Honda Beat then I would be all for it. haha.
  23. That wiring is out of this world. What are you using for the wires? It is so tiny.
  24. That steering box is amazing and looks perfect in place. My 2 cents, I like the darker red, but realize this, I have zero knowledge on Ferrari colors.
  25. details, details, details. You could get lost in the amount of details you could do to a car. I am still missing some supplies and things to do everything right and next time I am in town I will go looking for more fine gauge wire that I can use for detailing as the phone wire is just too big for plug wires. Still learned a lot on this one as well. I am pretty happy for the most part but I really had to draw the line somewhere. I did see someone who had actual battery clamps on their battery with wires attached. I wish I had of asked more when I saw the photo but if anyone knows more about this and how to do it, I would love to know more. It looked great. Also what type of wire they used when doing small wires like that. I am thinking there is craft wire that works in these tiny diameters. Interior is ok, nothing too special and no real details other than painting. Didn't want to really reach here. Completely messed up the body unfortunately. Seems my compressor is set at 55 psi and there is no regulator with it so I will need to get a hold of one for certain. The paint was already pretty bad with the silver laid down but I really noticed it when I tried to go over with the pledge. It just made everything ripple and that was when I realized that I was using way too much pressure. Ah well, live and learn. Not going to strip and start over but for sure know better for next time. Going to spend some time assembling and finishing off the exterior stuff.
