  1. Very nicely done. More pics would be nice.
  2. Well done! Especially the engine!
  3. I cannot find any with 3 parking spots and the hand railing. Do you have a link you could cut and paste here?
  4. I mostly concur with this methodology. I use Testors rattle can decal bonder #9200. (though I am running low and have not been successful tracking down any more) The key is to give the decal some resilient strength before it has to be separated from the backing paper. Warm water and one drop of dish soap is the PERFECT formula. It keeps the decal slippery enough to move it into place. I have had some decals I messed with for an extraordinary amount of time until the were perfectly aligned. I let mine soak fully submerged, then tease it with a toothpick in the dish, until I can just get it to move from the decal paper. I am sure other techniques work just as well. I use white vinegar on the surface and a cotton swab soaked in it to push the applied decal in place. The combination of the acid in the vinegar and the dried detergent molecules make for a very good bond when dried. Once perfectly aligned, use dry cotton swabs to lightly tamp it down and chase out the bubbles while simultaneously absorbing the excess water.
  5. I must have gotten the last of the good batches. All mine spray just fine. But then again, they are only for chassis plates and suspension pieces.
  6. I am in. I am doing a Revel KW W900 Aerodyne with the AMT Doubles trailers. I will attempt to add the lift gate from the Ford Coke box truck.
  7. Very nice result. The paint color and finish is excellent.
  8. Other than the holes in the rims being too small, they look like they build up very nicely.
  9. Thank you for hosting. To me the prize is simply getting it done in under a year.
  10. Very nicely done. I have one of these. Nice to see it goes together well.
  11. Nice models all. The Fairlane is WICKED!
  12. You definitely captured the authentic look for something that was never kitted. Well done.
  13. Interesting question. I would tend to think not. I am soon to attempt decals over BMF as I need a silver, chrome underlay on my Rocket 455 air cleaner decal.
  14. I have been working on all my Pontiacs the week. This one is the odd man out. Earlier I found some seats that were a closer match to the correct upholstery pattern, so I have them prepped. Today I tackled the rear seat. I had this 62 Pontiac rear seat in my parts box which does not have the exact pattern but it is much closer than the kit seat. An hour of hacking and filing has it fitting pretty good. I also finally decided on the interior color(s). White seats and door panels with black carpet, dash and package shelf. Officially known as Parchment and Black.
  15. Gee, I would find this just as I finished installing the plug wires on my Rocket 455.
  16. Finished up the consoles for the 65s. They turned out better than could have hoped. The spray on chrome is nice (and durable), the real wood inserts came out ok and the shifters look natural. Too bad they will be hard to see in the finished product.
  17. Since I am about to assemble the engines for my Pontiacs, I figured I would try to get my Rocket 455 put together as well. I detail painted everything so assembly begins. I will try to accompany as many the bits as I can to simulate a smog era engine compartment.
  18. Myself, I am inspired by his 68 Coronet. I may never obtain enough skills to get to that level but I think 80% is possible. I just wish I had more bench time.
  19. Thanks Gareth. I wanted a pretty Turquoise. This was slightly darker than I wanted but it is still pretty. Robert. Me too, though I do not remember seeing very many growing up. I was born is 61.
  20. Quite impressive quantity and quality.
  21. I would love to jump into 3D rendering and printing. I have the attention to detail and enough computer savvy to hit the ground running. I have the cash too but alas, I have too small of a house with no basement to set up a printer. Heck, I do not have a space for a dehydrator (though my wife has one for food in the main bathroom). Nonetheless, I have PLENTY of kits to build to last a lifetime without one. As more guys get printers, I will likely get to the point where I will make files and contract someone else to print them for me. I have purchased a number of 3D printed items and have generally been pleased with the results.
  22. I have built models of one of my cars and two of my best friends cars (both of which I had driven a number of times). 1st up, my first Grand Prix circa 1983-84. Models: Modified Johnny Lightning, 1972 MPC annual and all wood replica commissioned by my best friend. 2nd up, a good friend in HS 1970 SS 396 4-speed. The only thing I did not do was the black vinyl top. 3rd up. my BFF in the Navy Jeff's 1970 R/T SE (built up) 383 Magnum 4-speed.
  23. Looks great, cannot wait to see it in color.
  24. Thanks, If I am going to cut on some sandpaper anyways, I just make a dozen or so squares and tuck them in a little ziplock baggy. At the rate I build, one sheet will last me years.
