I haven’t been to a contest/show in a long time. I always loved it. Figuring how and where to place the builds for the best look and exposure. Even going as far as looking at how the lighting in the room shined in certain areas of the judging tables. Fun times. Some day I’ll get back into showing! My brother in law and I always went to shows together but he stopped building so we stopped going to shows. -

FANTASY PORSCHE 911 GT3 R GULF LIVERY

Beautiful Porsche Chris! Very nicely done! I love the Gulf colors. I seen a pic of someone’s build, my apologies I don’t remember who, of a Shelby Cobra that was done in Gulf colors. Very nicely done on your build! -

Very nice build and photography! A vintage F1 car is on my bucket list to build some day! Model car that is! I had my eye on the 1/20 Ebbro Lotus 49. Thought that one looked pretty cool. Now the kit you have built is right up there as well! -
No problem. Give me a little bit and I’ll dig that out. I put it on the back burner a while back.

The rims and tires are from “3D Model Specialists” Yes, very nice stuff from R&M. The blower from 3D on Shapeways as well comes with the Ardun head intake suited for their Arden head V8 or, I believe, will work with the one in the Revell 50 Ford F1 -

What a smokin, yet subtle hot rod! Looks absolutely perfect. Nice job. -
Very nice! I have one of these in the works myself from an old MPC kit. Luckily the rear deck spoiler and fender flares were separate but still had to close up the T tops and shaker hood hole. Not sure where your wheels came from but I got mine including tires from Fireball Resin. Great stuff! Your build gives me inspiration to get back on to mine!

What a cool little bug! Great choices on the power plant and frame! Interior and details are fantastic! I really like the colors of the body, chassis, and interior. They all go together very well! Nice job.

Michael, good to know on the wheels. I have them in my cart on Shapeways. I was really surprised to see the exact set of wheels for that car on there along with the tires! I also found the Arden V8 intake and SCOT blower as well on Shapeways. Did you also buy the tire set for the rims? -

Yes! That spring settup has me scratching my head on how to fab that! Possibly taller spring mounts on the front axle? Have to fab it up so there is room for the frame in between the axle and spring. Taller spring with more arc? As far as the builder, the Barrett Jackson sales page says the car was purchased through eBay by Wayne and then he took it to Andy Leach of Cal Automotive Creations. That’s who turned it into what it is now. A lot of people said it was a 32 but it is a 30. Andy Leach had grafted a 32 5 window roof to the body. After a period of time, it went through Barrett Jackson at no reserve. The speedster that Moal built for him was definitely right up there in the cool factor as well! I do like this one better! -
Very nice build! Details are fantastic!

I mixed up a paint color as best as I could get to the factory secondary color for the interior and added that to the seats, door panels and dash pad. The dash was detailed with some factory black accents and added the chrome trim with, again, the Molotov pen! That was also used to do the chrome trim on the door panels. Did I mention I love that pen! Finally before the interior assembly can begin, I added some embossing powder for carpet using Testors clear parts glue. Got that carpet tip right here on the forum! After that, I got a little foil work done getting ever so close to getting the body on. Finish foiling, install wind shield and side windows before that happens though. Progress, progress! I know I might get some flack for not modifying the door panels to portray the four door look but my talent and budget only goes so far! Lol! Enjoy. Comments always welcome.

Well, after sitting on the bench for a year I’m finally getting back to this! I’ve added a small piece of styrene to where the column shifter should be. After a little shaping I drilled a .025 hole where the lever will go. The lever was made from .025 stainless steel wire bent to the correct angle and then a small piece of .062 round stock added to the end and for the shifter knob. Chrome accents were done with a Molotov pen. I love that pen!

Your build looks fantastic! Very nice details and colors all around! The tip with the textured paint is great! I’m going to experiment with that in the future! Nice job.

Great step by step process! This is right on par for what I’m wanting to do when I tackle trying to build this little gem. Wayne Carini’s 30 Ford. Gathering the parts as well right now. -
Thanks Bob! For the most part, a fun kit to build.

I have one of these waaaay in the back corner of the bench started quite a long time ago. I believe mine is the Tamiya kit. It’s a cute little car! The Tamiya kit is very detailed with a lot of parts as well. I gotta get back to work on that one of these days! Meanwhile, I’ll follow along on yours!

Thanks for the heads up on the gloves! It might be a while before I get going on anther build. Too many on the bench now!

Depending on the parts, I put a very tiny dab of glue on the parts with a toothpick or use pieces of small gage wire and a tiny drill and pin the parts together. Hope this helps.
