  1. Hello gang, here is my latest plastic victim. This is an original AMT T519 KW W925 I picked up at a swap meet at my local Hobbytown. I rooted thru the box and determined it was complete. Someone glued the engine block and transmission halves together and boxed it up and forgot about it. I found a receipt from Nov. 1977 in the box for $7.35 printed from an adding machine. I just had to get this kit to kinda make up for the one I built, err I mean butchered when I was 12 or so. It was the first truck model I tried building back then, I was in over my head to say the least. Anyway, built mostly box stock. Tires were toast so used the tires from a Moebius tire/wheel set. Cab and hood seemed to sit way high on the frame so lowered it a bit. Looks better like this I think. Cut a piece of aluminum tubing for exhaust stack and added convex mirrors and antennas. Colors are restoration shop Wimbeldon White and Testors light blue. Gonna be pulling an MPC end dump trailer for a load. Stretching two of them to make a 35 ft. tandem axle like is so common out here in the western US. Enough of my babbling, hope you like. Comments welcome, thanks for looking.
  2. I picked this up at Hobby Lobby not long ago. For $6 I couldn't pass it up. This is the first aircraft I did since the 70s. I like to think I'm a bit better at it by now. This is a nice kit, fairly simple but looks good when finished. It took longer to decal it than it did to build the kit. But decaling is not one of my strong points, although I am getting better at it. Was surprised I didn't destroy any of them. Colors are Metalizer Aluminum plate from a spray can and Testors red spray. Built box stock except for radio antenna since I broke off the first one. Comments welcome. Thanks for lookin'.
  3. Got the windows put in this W925 I been working on forever now. Every time I think I have the upper hand on it something goes south on me. I'm almost out of parts so can't be too bad from here I hope.
  4. Real nice job on that. I like the paint work, shiny but not show car shiny. Like you would see on an old workhorse. Looks ready for many years of use and abuse.
  5. That looks great. Looks like a close fit on the rear tires. I have never worked with resin parts before. Did you have to do a lot of filling/sanding to get that tank straight? These Moebius kits are nice.
  6. Early this morning I hear a backup alarm out front. I look out a few min. later and the city was out there to patch up the pavement where they replaced a water valve a couple months ago. This is a roughly 4X4 ft. patch. They showed up with 5 tandem axle dump trucks, a backhoe, a skid steer and a steam roller, and 12 guys. 2 guys actually working, 5 watching the 2 work, the other 5 standing at the corner visiting. Really? I mean a million dollars worth of machinery and 12 guys to patch a tiny spot. And they're bellyachin' about a budget shortfall.
  7. Looks great. Just needs a showroom diorama with a bikini clad babe leaning up against it.....
  8. Looks great. Like the street freaks from the 70's.
  9. Looks good. You're getting better at these.
  10. Nice tidy build. That color really pops in the sunshine.
  11. Thanks for the positive comments guys. Dave, this is a 125cc Monkey. Honda just came out with this last year I believe. With a price tag of $3,600 I don't see them selling in large numbers. It is a neat bike though. Same engine as a Honda Grom. I remember the old Z50 and Trail 70 and 90. I wanted one but no way mom and pop would let me get one. I likely woulda killed myself on it.
  12. I stood here and looked at this for a half hour tonight. Been working on it for 3 months or so. Just trying to decide my next move on it. Seems like I spend more time contemplating it than actually building it.
  13. The latest from my bench. Started it back in March. I am a slow builder. It did get shelved for a bit after I lost the piece that holds the horn and brake lines. Tried to contact Tamiya, no luck. West coast still closed. So improvised and made it work. I am happy with how it came out. This is the first Tamiya kit I ever built, wont be the last. Very nice kit. Was nice to not have re engineer half of it to make it work. Colors are Model Master stoplight red and Classic White.
  14. That's one you don't see every day. Haven't seen one of these on the road in many years. Good job. Looks like you could drive it away.
  15. Looks good from here. I agree we need more pics.
  16. Looks great. Love the dog yellow tagging the tire. Cool backdrop also. I still haven't got up the nerve to try rusting up a model. One of these days.
  17. That is cool. I agree rear axle is too wide. I have one of these in my pile, might have to try a day cab. Gotta get up the nerve to cut the cab down. If I may say something, it looks like the frame rails need to be cut back pretty much even with the front spring perches. That will make the cab move back a bit and center the steer tires under the wheel arches. It also helps to line up the grille in the cab opening. This is a tricky kit, at least to me. Looks like a fun project.
  18. Looks great. I saw this kit at the hobby shop before they shut the planet down. Gonna have to get one soon.
  19. Perfect. Looks like you could climb in and drive it away.
  20. Nice. Looks like something you would see driving around Denver back in the 60's. I still haven't got up the nerve to try a paint job like that. Great body and paint work. Only thing missing is a chain steering wheel.
  21. Looks great. Did you have to alter anything on the steer axle so the tires sit under the fenders? It seems like most of the AMT truck kits have the tires sticking out too far. I have 3 or 4 of these in the pile waiting for their turn at the bench. I have 2 of the trailer kits also. Hoping to put the 2 together and make a 35 ft. tandem axle out of it. That is all you see out here in the western US. Hopefully I can pull it off.
  22. Right here. These things are hard to get good photos of.
  23. Thanks for all the comments everyone. I went back this morning and brush painted in the panel lines. Much better. Thanks for the suggestions. I think I'll start using gray primer on these darker colors, so it won't stand out so much. I thought I had it sanded down well enough since this is the fourth paint job I had to do on it. Every paint job is an experiment. I don't usually have this much trouble. Guess I was overdue lol... Again, thanks for the input on this.
  24. Those were the days. And all for the paltry sum of around $3500 or so. Of course that was a fortune back in '70.
  25. Nice. Nailed the period correct look. Right down to the yellow plug wires. You just weren't cool without them.
