Great start, Thomas. I can tell it will be a fine-looking build.
-
Looking great, Donato. I like everything about it. Hope you were able to get the decals for it. Thats one awesome looking modified.

Here is the manifold that looks fairly close to the ref pictures I have of the real manifold hidden by an air cleaner. I know that it is a single plane manifold.

Hurricane Beryl as a category 1 hurricane caused more damage than a lot of category 3 hurricanes we have had in the past. Finally got back to the build after 6 days without power. It's just too hard to do something fun in a hot house with battery powered lantern. I got more done on the manifold and found an image of a carb I will try to duplicate as best I can at 1/25 scale.

Pierre, so glad I am finally able to see the finished photos of this amazing build. I don't see what you're talking about when it comes to the paint finish. it looks perfect to me, and you really can't tell what the body is made of. All of your detailed parts and those fabulous wheels you obtained makes this a one of a kind superlative build. Anothe excellent build from your bench. -

Been without power since Monday from Hurricane Beryl. Finally got it back last night at 8:30. It has been very tough not having air conditioning especially at night when you're trying to sleep. The fuel filler and wind screens look perfect. Have i missed the final pictures? I will go check in the show room for this category. -
Found some pretty good ref pics of the manifold and trying to use them to make the engine look okay.

Totally agree about the color of the fog lamps. I guess that's what they are. That front of the car looks so real. You still have that cleanliness of build at a super high level. I don't know how you guys can do it so well. -

Ken, I can't get over how crisp and clean this build is. Its mind boggling. -

Yup. This build will never be entered in any contest, so I'm not worried about my ridiculous headers. Thanks for stopping by Ken. I really appreciate your input.

Just a little more to do on the header collectors and I can move on to completing the engine. I had to remove the stock intake and throttle body so I can add a single plane manifold and a Holley carb. I have to change the pulleys and fan belt set up and add an oil pump. I will also have to make an air cleaner if I can't find one in my stash. I also need to change the valve covers. They need to be a little bigger than the ones that come on the kit engine.

Finally came up with a collector that will work but it looks nothing like anything that was on the real car or any car for that matter. Totally off the wall.

Perfect. Dude looks like a service manager I had back in the day. Adds a ton of interest to the build. -
Brent, it looks like mission accomplished. The second picture of the car looks a lot cleaner and crisper with the new decals. However, the paint seems orangier then the first photo. Possible lighting differences or camera setup or did you edit the photo with a program like photoshop? No matter, it looks Awesome.

Excellent super clean build on the Harvick car. Looks like you got these NextGen cars figured out. Everything fits well and the stance is perfect on both of them.

Great build, Jack. Does the driver have a stogey in his mouth. Gotta love Jimmy when he was doing his crying towel routine on the hub.

Thanks, Wick. I'm looking forward to seeing it. I have a ton of old scale auto magazines, but I don't think I have the one you were talking about.

James, I used Tamiya gold in the rattle can on my Smokey Chevelle. It's not as pretty as the one in this thread but it's pretty close. I just posted it over at Short Track models in the Darkside section if you want to see how the Tamiya looks

Awesome that you got to work in his shop and speak with him. That t-bird looks great too.

Beautiful build, Dave. I don't remember seeing it at Randy's. Can't quite make out the name. Who drove this car? And thanks for giving us a build to look at. I keep trying to put Randy's in my rear-view mirror, but I keep getting pulled back like Pacino said in Godfather part 2 or maybe it was 3. I can't remember.

Try as I might I could not get those headers to fit so I had to come up with something totally off the wall and totally incorrect, but I had to figure out how to get the exhaust from the engine to the exhaust pipes, so I came up with these. Please don't laugh too hard when you see them. hardly anything else about this build is correct, so it really doesn't matter. I just need to get this thing finished. I have never not finished a build and I'm not going to start now.

I'm getting very interested with all this talk about making a 61 Catalina correct from the Bonneville kit. I always wanted to do it but never got around to it because I didn't think I could pull it off. I hope somebody gives it a try. The 61 Pontiac was a very good looking Nascar Grand National race car.
